Hey Gecko, I figured maybe there's fridge brilliance here.
I'm thinking that while your weapons might have those safety features in them, the enemy wasn't so cautious and designed their weapons to be more hazardous. For humans, this would be absolutely insane. Depending on how these creatures are set up, though, death and pain might not be concerns - merely inconvenient.
That said, the one that I left in their cockpit certainly is averse to their current situation. My character is supersmart, but I am not. My wife has noted that I am bad at "hints."
Whoops.
Ah, well. Greater good and whatnot. Building collapse delay takes precedence over saving someone who is the reason we have damage to reverse at all. Maybe he'll come back, if I'm correct in what they are.
Focus: the point is that maybe their explosives were actually altered by someone who considered them completely expendable, and thus theirs would detonate at close ranges. Like battleshorting, but more insane and reckless.
