The Basement

There is a lengthy pause as the droid computes his response.  When it does respond, the voice sounds subdued to an extent.  "It has been over three hundred thousand cycles since I last saw my operator or any other employee of this facility.  Likelihood that this facility has been abandoned is..........ninety nine point nine eight percent."  The droid sounds almost depressed.  It's frame slumps and it just sits there after answering.

Tumps grins silently to himself and stands up from behind the debris. "Well, sounds to me like you're in need of a new job. Tell ya what, how about you come with me and we can find you something to suit those talents of yours? Get you all charged and loaded up, what do ya say?"

The droid looks down, then looks up at Tump, then looks down again as if looking at his legs, which is not really legs but some kind of metal box of gears and hoses and whatnot.  When it speaks, it's voice maintains an event tone, almost monotone, which makes it sound depressed. "Ah.  Aha.  You are telling a joke.  I get it.  Ha ha.  Very funny.  Come with you.  That is a good one.  Because I do not have the capacity for mobility.  That is a knee slapper.  It is too bad then that I do not have knees."

"I didn't say you'd be walking outta here. I've seen schematics for a mobile transport of sorts that you might fit right into."

Tump takes a quick look at the enclosure the droid is mounted on. "I'm not exactly a mechanic, but it looks like it's possible to get you moved, right?"

Inarra walks up.  "We can move him.  GDI-7X, I know it's difficult for your trust circuits to process, but we will return for you.  Right now, we are on a critical mission that requires us to delve deeper into the ruins down here.  It would help us move along much more rapidly toward recovering you for a better purpose if you told us the general purpose of this building.  What used to be in here?"

The droid takes several seconds to process Inarra's words.  Then it lifts slightly.  "Very well.  I will write code into my trust circuits for a modicum of leeway for the two of you for now.  It is a fragile code, easily deleted.  As my sensors survey the area, there is much that you say that makes sense."  It's head rotates behind it and it scans the building with its optic sensors.  Then the head rotates back, coming a full 360.  "This building was a manufacturing outlet for generators of any kind.  Being this close to the shipyard, it specialized in heavy duty small-ship generators."

The droid looks Tump over with its scanners once then looks at Inarra.  "You do not look that strong.  I calculate that you could not carry even one such generator.  I am grateful for this.  To my shame, I am now ill-equipped to prevent thieves -- such as yourselves -- from entering and stealing with impunity.  It swells my oil pump to know that you could not simply take that which you value from someone else without paying."

Inarra ignores the droid and looks at Tump.  "He's right.  We wouldn't be able to carry a generator the Falcon needs without vehicular help.  Plus, if we are to salvage this droid along with all the other, then we definitely need a small truck."  She turns to leave and speaks over her shoulder.  "We should get going.  We can note this on the map and check out the other locations.  We are lucky to have found out what we did so quickly."

Tump follow Inarra out. "Agreed. We've got a hefty checklist here, at least we've got a good bead on some of it already. Plus, with a little reprogramming, I think that GDI unit will be a nice addition to the Falcon. Maybe we could even find it some legs."

He turns back to address the droid one last time. "Take heart, Mr. Sevenex, we'll be back and give you a proper job before too long."

"We should radio back with what we found. Perhaps they could come back and fetch the generators and robot while we move on. You know, save ourselves a round trip."

The Basement

Inarra makes the call and Ky advises that he will come and pick up the parts and consider the droid.  The two hunters make their way to the next building on the map, which turns out to be some kind of ancient theater.  Nothing works and there is little of note outside of historical value.  The hologram technology is ancient and not as powerful as today's tech.

Pushing on to the big destination, the two adventurers are rewarded with the droid manufacturing plant they had been looking for.  The sign outside is long faded, but the recessed stenciling reads 'Corellian Cybersystems and Sublight Tech'.  There are several worn stumps of permacreet outside that might have been displays for various products, but they are empty now.  The building's main entrance is on the corner of a vast structure that takes up what would have been several city blocks.

The Basement

Tump and Inarra spread out looking for traps.  There are none on the outside of the building or even in the main area, which makes sense given that this is a reception area.  However, after moving back into the functioning part of the factory area, the two of you split up on opposites sides of a hallway big enough to drive large vehicles down.  You find two security measures immediately covering one door.  These are meant to entrap, not harm given that this was a place of business and employees might make mistakes.

[DC 24 and DC 17 for the two of them.]

Tump carefully takes his time dismantling the traps around the door. He locates the power console and starts working.

Takes 20 on disable device. 27.

A few snips of wire and a couple circuit blocks and the two traps are successfully bypassed. Next, he checks to see if the door is locked or barred in some way.

The Basement

The door is locked, but it takes little effort to slice past it. [+1 Slicing XP]  Inside the first room, it appears as if the occupant left in haste.  Flimsies and desk equipment are scattered all over the place, preserved in a thousand years of stale air.  Once the occupant left, the seal against the outside was sufficient to protect the room from almost all forms of deteriorating agents.  Flimsies tend to be far more durable than paper, and the computer in the room looks operational, but without power.

Unfortunately, the technology of the computer looks custom and there is no direct link without firing up the internal power of the building.  Trump's luck is not all bad.  Hidden under the keyboard is what looks like an old magstrip ID.  The name says: Jek Kelshu.

There is nothing much in this room either, but rifling through the papers, Tump comes across a droid schematic.  It is difficult to tell from the faded flimsi, but it is either a medical droid of some kind or something far more sinister with lots of blades.

It seems this is a place that fits the description of what you are looking for if you can just find the droids.
