"Alright.  We need to get topside to get a signal through.  These walls are shielded.  And we still need to find those droids you are looking for.  Won't these in the schematic on the flimsi work?  If we could find one of these, wouldn't it do what you need it to?"  Inarra grabs several pieces of loot from the table tops, flimsies and other valuable bits of information.  Once done, she moves back over to the door to the observation theater.

"Yeah, assuming we can find one that's operational. There's no getting through those doors. Maybe there is a backup generator around here somewhere."

Tump follows Inarra out. "Let's finish checking these other rooms."

The Basement

It is not a problem for two relic hunters to climb back out of the hole Inarra made.  Eventually, a door into that section should be found, but for now the hole suffices.

Tump uses the key card but only manages to find more offices and some kind of large access door to the hallway at the end.  It leads out of the back of the building.  It's key pad is non-functional so the card does nothing when slid through.  There is a noise on the other side, but it is brief and not heard again in the few minutes the two relic hunters work at the door.

Tump steps back and looks over the door. "There's gotta be a way past all this nonsense. Maybe an air vent or something."

Inarra starts looking around as well.  After a few minutes, and a couple more muffled sounds from the other side, she calls out.  "Tump!  Over here.  I found what looks like a manual release.  Good thing we are on the inside wanting out."

When Tump comes over, she tries to pull the lever, but there is no success.  "Give me a hand.  This is stubborn."

[Roll STR check.]

With a groan of protest, the lever inches up until it finally gives.  There is a scrape of metal as the internal locks release and then a crack appears in the door accompanied by the sound of lots of scurrying.  There is just enough room to squeeze through to the other side.

Tump lowers his visor, and with his side against the unopened part of the door, he pokes his head in. Cycling through the various optic modes, he looks for signs of activity. Thermal first, then low light.

Provided neither of those yield anything, he raises his spotlight into the room.

"Dongo-rats mostly.  I don't think it's a sealed cave.  Look."  Inarra has poked her head around the door as well, and after some adjustment to the dark, the extent of the cavern beyond becomes clear.  This is some kind of external loading dock at the back of the building.  The ceiling is several stories above, and the walls are well beyond the light, but this looks like a vast warehouse type dock for unloading.  There is no back wall opposite the door the two relic hunters are peeking through.

"We should close this if we can.  I don't know that anything of value is going to be out here."

He holsters his weapon and helps put the heavy doors back in their place. "Onward then?"

"Don't you mean 'backward'?"  She grins mischeviously, obviously coming to enjoy Tump's company.  On the way back down the corridor, Inarra spots something in one of the walls.  "Tump, come take a look at this.  Does this look like a concealed panel to you?"

[Roll Search DC 25 to see what she is talking about.  She won't give you enough time to take 20.]

The Basement

Tump not only sees exactly what Inarra is looking at, but also finds a hidden power coupling that would allows a small charge to operate the inactive panel.  After some quick relic-hunter magic, he has the thing powered up and cycling through its settings.  When all the lights are green, the floor in front of them hisses and a thousand years worth of sealed air begins to mix with the outside.  The whole section of the hallway floor lowers as another section lifts up.  It would enable a large transport down below, one big enough to fit through the partially shut gates to the outside unloading area with the rats.

Tump covers his face as the stale air of a millennia assaults them. He lowers his arm when it finally dies down. "Quite a keen eye, Inarra. This may be the way in we've been looking for."

He gestures inward. "Shall we?"

Tump ducks in and starts looking around.

The Basement

The two hunters walk down the cavernous ramp into darkness that swallowshe their directional beams.  At the bottom is a huge routing dock with lanes marked off by slightly raised bumps.  Delivery vehicles that would come down this way might not even feel such small things, but computer sensors would.  It takes time, but the two relic hunters determine that the dock goes on for kilometers from the ramp.  Even to either side there is half a klick and the walls have a new door equal in size to the one leading to the outside dock every kilometer or so.  There is no power down here and, without a generator, no way to close that ramp back up.

Two hours of exploration - an overwhelming experience that makes them feel like they've barely done anything - leave them exhausted.  "I'm tired, Tump.  Let's set up a camp.  Any place you think is safe?  Maybe one of those offices up on the first floor?"

"I have an idea, but you may not like it." He turns and starts walking back the way they came. "That room I found you in, it's probably the most defensible room I recall seeing. Strong, lockable door. Only one exit, since the other door is jammed shut and with the floor trap disabled, it should be pretty safe to rest for the night."

Inarra looks a little uneasy at the mention of the room, but Tump tries to reassure her. "After all, lightning never strike the same place twice, right?"

"You.  Are.  Hilarious."  Inarra rolls her eyes and starts back for the ramp.

An hour later, the two relic hunters have made it safely to the room in question and set up camp.  A portable stove and cans of chili provide dinner.

"So, we really need a generator.  We might find one or two that meet our needs back at that place with the fixed droid sentry.  I'm not sure how we'd carry them though without going all the way back for a vehicle.  Maybe we should check that back dock to see if one is operational after all these years?"  Her last suggestion is flippant, not really expecting Tump to take her up on it.  She rubs the back of her neck, probably still smarting from the trap she triggered earlier.

"Yep, a generator would be ideal. With that bay we opened up, Ky and Irin ought to be able to get a transport down there if they pick one up from the generator warehouse."

He fiddles with his datapad, updating notes and such. "Did you ever hear back from them when we radio'd them about the sentry and generator store?"

The next morning, several vermin have sniffed their way to the hidey hole.  Nothing the two experienced relic hunters can't shoo or barbecue.  After a swift breakfast, Inarra and Tump find their way to the front of the building and contact Kerr.  Arrangements are made to transport a generator here first, then pick up several others and the old droid on the way back.

Irin is driving along with the loud meathead, Ronan Bunderslaw.  Turns out, he's a wicked good engineer.
