"Tump!  Good to see you again!  Where am I taking this?"  He hefts a generator up on one shoulder as if its a sack of potatoes.

Irin rolls her eyes and Inarra stifles a giggle.

"You? I remember you, but you fell. How in the world did you survive that?"

He thinks back a moment then rolls his eyes. "Ky, I suppose. Well, it's a good thing then, we could use your help. That generator, we'll need to get that down below. I'll show you."

Tump leads him down to the bay that lead to the routing dock.

Tump glances over to Irin and then back to Ronan. "Has he not met him yet? I thought for sure he'd be the only reason he survived that fall."

He shrugs. "Either way, I reckon you'll meet him soon enough. Did you manage to salvage the GDI unit at the warehouse? Seemed like it might be pretty useful."

Ronan grins.  "I survived the fall on my own, relic hunter."  It's not quite contempt that he says the job title with, more like amused competition.  Like something the FRD style speeder bikes and the CVY swoops might garner in their respective aficionados.  "Yeah, we got the GDY.  That's the first thing Vyctor told us to grab."

The Basement

After Tump leads Ronan and the women down to the appropriate room, Ronan is swift to figure out that the door won't open with the generator hooked up there.  He fiddles with the door controls for a moment, while the generator makes that operational at least, and finds out where to connect the generator itself.  The best place is down in the hidden hall Tump and Inarra found yesterday.

Hours later, the door slides open to reveal stairs leading down into the main room that should have been viewable from the main observation deck above.  It is a droid factory spanning several miles of underground space.  Thousands of inactive droids are in various stages of production that looked like it was shut down in mid operation...or maybe just lost power.  The closest area is a finishing and presentation area and it is filled with a thousand of the droids.

The droids themselves are sleek and articulate.  Their human form looks like it needs a coat of paint or some other finishing touch, but otherwise they are likely fully functional, just not powered.

"I've got the primary operations computer."  Irin's voice is excited, hopeful.  It grows even more energetic in the next sentence.  "I've got power!"  Her fingers fly furiously over the controls.  Then she jams a bulky data spike into the appropriate slot and types some more.  After nearly destroying the execution button with her final keystroke, she turns to the rest, triumphant.  "We'll know everything about this place in about...eight hours."

Inarra whistles.  "Tump, come look at this."  She guides him over to a bay that is set underneath the observation windows and recessed into the wall.  Inside is an array of unique constructs that could possibly be droids.  Some of them are a bit too lean on the mass and look like they might function more along the lines of some kind of exoskeleton.

The largest, by far, is some kind of four legged brute of a machine.

"You find something?", he shouts over his shoulder. With all the tech lying around, Tump is a little slow to respond. Like a kid in a candy store, he takes a look at just about everything while on his way over to Inarra.

He lets out an appreciative whistle when he catches sight of the four-legged "machine". "Well now, that is something." Tump circles it several times, inspecting it.

Inarra goes to a terminal near Irin and starts slicing in.  "Yeah, this place and that generator factory will have everything we need to get up and running.  It's just a matter of getting it all loaded and installed.  There's even stuff here to rebuild that A-wing!"

She sounds excited and still a little tired all at the same time.  "Tump, what about you?  You see what you were looking for here?"

Tump grins as Irin dives into her working, enjoying herself way too much. When he finishes inspecting this four-legged thing, he wanders over to Inarra.

"In all this excitement, I almost forgot...", as he search through his various pockets. Finding the data drive he pulled from the droid head days before, he pops it into one of the ancient terminals. "Now that we have power, these old terminals ought to be able to decrypt whatever was on that old drive I found."

He stands and waits while it analyzes.

[Roll Reflex DC 15 to get there before her.  DC 20 to ensure no damage to the drive taking it out.  You can also beat DC 15 to prevent her from doing anything to the drive and leave it in.]

Tump stands there stupified for a moment, given Irin's sudden reaction. Quickly, he snaps into action and yanks the drive out of the termination. There is a slight scraping sound as the drive slides out, but fortunately the damage was only to the exterior case and not the disk itself.

Irin crouches down, head between her hands.  "As soon as you put that data drive in, the files I was looking at started disappearing.  There's some kind of aggressive AI on that thing and it was attacking all that information."  She stands and sucks in her breath then rushes back over to the terminal.  As soon as she gets there she lets out the air and hangs her head in profound relief.  "That stopped it."  She taps a few more keys assessing the damage and ignores everyone.

Irin pauses what she is doing, then furrows her brows in thought.  "I-"  She taps a few more keystrokes.  "I can't tell.  It's possible.  Computer slicing is not really my thing.  I deal better with the information itself than all the acrobatics of the software associated with it."

Tump takes a 20 on slicing. Total of 27.

From what Tump can tell, the AI on the stick was absorbing the data.  The information is not lost, but it is temporarily not accessible until the program is in a droid.

Tump relaxes when we heads the diagnostics. "Whew!" He looks over at Irin. "We're good. It was somehow pulling in the data from the network, not destroying it. Once we get this plugged into a proper droid, we should be able to get access to the data."

He pockets the data drive and starts to gaze out over the area. "Now, to figure out what sort of robot this needs to go into. Irin, you ever come across something in your archives that could process data at an extraordinary rate?"

She relies without hesitation. "Astromech.  They had to process navigation data throughout the galaxy and caccurate an insane amount of variables.  They were also historically considered almost or completely sentient by many of ancient times, especially the later models."
