Ant Hill Ease

Behind the door and remnants of a wall to what is probably one of the countless redundant office rooms, a voice calls out.  "Who's there?  We need help!"

Inarra goes over to the first rodent and makes sure its dead with a laser tool across the throat.  It doesn't move, indicating that it was already dead.  Inarra puts her tools away and shoves on the thing a couple of times, unsuccessful in her attempt to move it.  "Give me a hand?"

He looks over at Ronan. "Got a free hand, big guy?"

Ronan tucks away his grenade launcher on his back and walks over to the rodent.  With two hands, he grips the skin of its belly, and lifts.  With a grunt he tosses it a few feet back.  "That what you need?"

The sound of all movement in the room confounds Tump's ability to hear anything of importance. Instead, he takes a few shallow steps into the dark void beyond the gap in the wall. Using the night vision setting on his visor, he scans the area.

19:08, Today: Tump rolled 7 using 1d20+5.  Listen check, take 2.

Almost like he's moving in slow motion, Tump's backside slowly reappears from the gap as he gingerly takes tiny steps backward.

He whispers quietly. "Nobody make any sudden moves or noises. I think those thing's mother is inside there, and she doesn't look too happy."

Inarra drops down behind the wall outside the gaping hole.  "Polerin, this is Inarra.  Do you read?"

She pauses for a few moments, then interrupts whatever Polerin was saying.  "I know.  Move away from the door.  We...we've got a plan."  She almost kept the question mark out of that last word.

Polerin can be heard yelling from her receiver and from behind the door, before Inarra shuts him out.  She yells out to Django.  "They're clear!"

"Let's shed a little light on things."  There is a thump from Ronan's launcher, and a huge orange flare ignites as it arcs across the huge room.  It reaches the top of the ceiling about eight stories above and hovers there, revealing the monster sitting atop the office building.

The whole layout is hard to catch in a glance, but it looks like some kind of arboretum.  It may have had walkways every story to the ceiling at one time, but those have all fallen long ago.  Now it looks more like a warehouse with glass panes for walls and ceiling, with almost all the glass gone.

Sitting atop the office, rearing to its full five story height, is the large rodent monster.  It has two writhing tails with 'o' shaped bumps as big as a fist all along them.  Two pair of eyes, one in front of the other, sit on either side of an arrow-like head.  Two incisors in the front are overshadowed by two shovel-like tusks jutting out beside them.  It's black claws each have six fingers, including two opposable thumbs, which would indicate it is very good at climbing.

It does not seem to like the flare and takes a swat at it.  It misses, being that the light is too high even for it.

Give his retreat, Tump is no longer in a flanking position. He pulls out a medium sized canister and shouts over the gunfire "Watch your eyes!"

He lobs the canister toward the giant rat beast and tips his hat to shield his eyes. A deep thwump goes off accompanied by an intense flash of light.

The rat needs to made a couple saves.
Fort save vs DC 18 or be deafened for 2d4 phases;
Reflex save vs DC 19 or be blinded for 2d4 phases
