Mechis III - Surface

Django's voice buzzes in over the com systems. "Zzzz... Aight, I know a few rapid response drills we used to run when I was a beat cop, so I'll try to modify em' best I can to suit a three dimensional environment zzzzZzzZz just remember port is your left and starboard is your right, and I think we can get through thizzZZzzZ".

Django arranges the team in a diamond formation, with Tump's X-Wing taking point, the Falcon on the right (starboard) to maximize his visibility given the cockpit location, Vyctor's B-Wing taking the port side, and Inarra in her A-Wing covering the rear flank - flying at a lower elevation as both a concealment tactic and to give her the ability to break away while maintain visual lock of targets.

Over the next hour, the group practices forming up and splitting off, with Tump leading out ahead and breaking to the direction of his choosing (presumably towards the nearest threat), Django aligning himself into Tumps previous flight path (to provide overwatch fire support), Vyctor swinging wide to the left for a potential flank or diversion, and Innara dipping low to flank from "under" a target. He has Irin sit in the co-pilot seat as a navigator and additional weapons operator, while RX-79 mans a turret.

"zzZzZz'everyone gettin' nice an' comfy with their roleszZzz?"

"Vyctor here.  I found mine.  Deploying.  I can select about twenty different routines to run through it seems.  Sending them over, Django."  The combat simulations upload on the Falcon's computer and Irin acknowledges receipt.  "Also, we should probably choose a squadron name.  Eventually."

{Vyctor dials his energy weapons down to practice mode and waits for instructions.}

"Initiating training sequence A1."  A soft tone indicates the beginning of the training and the four probes streak away.  They are still lit up on the tactical grid aboard each ship.

"I'll focus on T3 which took off to the right...to starboard.  That's an idiotic unmeaningful name, by the way."  Vyctor engages his thrusters and peels off slowly after the probe.

Inarra, better than the other two starfighter pilots, darts off after the probe designated T1 which went straight ahead at a dead run.  She does not comm, but her weapons register as low power.

T2 has swung out to port and T4 went straight down.

Vyctor closes with the training probe as best he can.  "This thing is fast.  Beginning my attack run now."  He fires too soon and the shot goes way wide.  Suddenly the probe jukes and evades and Vyctor's larger ship cannot keep up.  "I lost him.  Watch out."

Inarra's A-wing fires, but the probe rolls and the depowered bolts miss.  Inarra attempts to keep up with the probe, but it outmaneuvers her.  The only thing to come over the comm at that point is some choice words.

T1 attempts to roll and juke, but continues in a general pattern back toward the original beginning of the battle.  {CASE 3 with Inarra in position}

T2 does much the same with Tump.  {Case 3 with Tump in position}

T3 is able to move faster without having to avoid blaster fire from the B-wing.  It heads towards and then veers down through the starting point of the combat on the same trajectory as T4.  {Not engaged.}

T4 continues to loop and dodge as it attempts to gain advantage over the much slower, more massive falcon.  The only benefit is that it seems to be programmed to mimic the physics of a ship larger than itself, perhaps one that has to carry a human pilot.  It does not move like a tiny probe could if it pulled out all the limitations.  {CASE 2 engaged with Django}

The A-wing fires off it's blasters and catch the T1 Probe with two direct hits. {20 DMG}  The T1 Probe registers the damage as direct hits, meaning whatever protocol it follows, shields are not part of it.  It is not certain if the probes actually have real shields, or if the programming is complex enough to simulate them if not.

Though the damage is virtual, the T1 probe registers total destruction and powers down.

Inarra whoops through the comm channel.  "I got it!  I got it!"

Tump hoots over the comms. "Nice shot, Inarra! Alright Aice, show me what you got." He uses Aice's targeting protocols to lock in on the target and fire the canons. Three direct hits and the fourth sails wide right. [65 DMG] The probe shimmers a bit as each shot that lands when finally, on the third, it slows to a halt and shuts down.

A loud "Wooo!" echoes over the comms.
