Mechis III
The gel pack does what it's supposed to. Irin finds her feet trapped, but she is able to hold the cable still as Inarra continues to 'fall' toward her.
Django, with his gear, catches up rapidly and is able to move Inarra down the cable toward the other side. A bolt of energy blasts the ground right next to Irin, but does little more than singe the gel pack. Django and Inarra arrive on the other side, Inarra declipping almost as soon as she is past the lip of the tunnel. She rolls to her feet and moves over to Irin, trying to help her get free of the gel.
Out of the dark lumber four large droids. Each is taller than any man by several decimeters. Their legs, two per droid, are bent backwards which gives them an ungainly gait at this speed, though it's likely at higher speeds the legs would benefit. Atop the legs is a square head and no body. Two rhomboid eyes, red like lava run across the wide face. There is a single turret on the face of the droid, and below that, an open rectangle at least pretending to be a mouth. Out of the side of the head are two arms with a host of manipulators of various kinds where hands should be. The arms reach almost down to the ground and would if not for being bent in all five of its joints to a small degree.
The turrets can rotate and do so with a randomness that indicates these droids are either corrupted in their programming or perhaps not actually trying to hit anyone. The fact that they hit the grapple weighs against the latter option.
