I skipped forward. If there's anything you want to have done the previous night, go ahead with it.

Sadly, Santiago knows about Church matters, Tactics and Psychic powers. He'll also be insistent upon respectfully burning the bodies with a proper prayer, although he's happy enough to see them searched first in case that results in Clues.

You get the bonus for your specialty, but you can still roll normally for other matters.

I assumed either Augustus would reply or we would arrive at our destination. If it's appropriate, Horace can get up to some trouble or something en route.

My thoughts exactly gents!

Sorry for the lack of posting folks, I've been playing single dad to a six month old who is being a pain (what's sleep?!).  The wife is on a business trip (hence the single dad thing), and it's midterms time, so I'm just trying to keep my head above water here.

Re: OOC Thread:
Okay, Augustus' player has some RL stuff going on, and won't be around for the next month or two.

This gives me a bit of a dilemma, the group isn't large enough that I can write around this, and it would feel pretty unnatural if I did, considering the stage the story is at.

What I'm leaning towards is putting this game on hold for a month or two and when / if Augustus' player is ready to rejoin, get in touch with you to pick things up again. But how does that sound to you?

Re: OOC Thread:
I'm open to that. If you're up for it, I'd also do some side quest stuff for us commoners in this town while the noble folk chat. Just a thought.

Either way, I'll be around!

I've contacted him through rmail, but no response. I'll try again in a week or two, and fold the game (and maybe start something else) if there's no response.

Re: OOC Thread:
I thought about it, since this is a story I've had in mind for a while and which I was looking forward to running, but it's always harder to get someone to pick up an existing character, and we're far enough along that I don't want to restart the whole thing. I can try asking around with some people I know are reliable.

They're a friend of a friend, so I'll reach out and see what I can find out.

Hopefully things don't fold, I really enjoy the setting/you fine folks!

Re: OOC Thread:

Hmmm, truth be told, we could easily fit any character into the slot - all they'd need to be is 'noble' and 'more or less compatible with the minimal inter-party story we've developed to this point'.

I'll give it another few days, try to contact them both again, and see what happens.

I have had a dropout from my Savage Rifts game, so a vacancy has opened there, if anyone's interested? :)

I'm a fan of Rifts (though the system is absolute bollocks), and Savage Worlds, so yeah, I'd be amenable to things!

I had the same stance, but the Savage Worlds conversion did a lot to improve things and actually make it feel fast and action-packed.

I did introduce two houserules, one is that if your Armour isn't cancelled by an attack, you can take a maximum of one wound from it and the other is that for each Hero's Journey / Fortune & Glory roll, you can roll twice and choose one of the two results.

Well, the game's here: link to another game if you want to see for yourself. :)

I've resisted going over 5 characters so far, but since I know you're reliable, that's worth a lot. The PC's so far are a Mystic, Leyline Walker, and two MARS characters (a power armour pilot and Rogue Scholar). There was a Cyber-Knight (player switched characters), and a Psi-Tech (player had to leave).

So far the group has had two full stories, the third is just starting:

--Escaped Tolkeen as it was being invaded by the Coalition, finding a mage who was about to embark upon a reckless plan to destroy the Coalition. He was being led by a Mystic Knight into summoning something that would have destroyed everyone in the city, friend or foe. He was stopped, and the group escaped through a Rift.

--They emerged in the middle of the countryside, several months in the future. Encountering Lord Coake, they aided a township that was being raided by the Apocalyptic Cavalry, and encountered a dragon-worshipping cult (and the dragon herself). They escorted their refugees to the founding of the Tomorrow Legion.

--A month later, they are part of an embassy heading to the city-state of Kingsdale to negotiate an alliance with both the dictator and (under the table) the local black market and survivors of the Juicer Uprising, but one of the group has also received word that her mother is there, hunting a necromancer. They're about to head off.

Re: OOC Thread:
Right now, there isn't anything that absolutely wouldn't work (apart from Glitter Boys, I've excluded that class since it's too hard to challenge them without trivialising other characters, and I'd also be cautious about Crazies, depending on their background). The group has two dedicated "powered" characters, so things are mostly covered in that area, also having one front-line fighter and one knowledge / wilderness-focused character. Right now, all the characters are human, three female and one male. Characters are currently at 10xp / 2 advances.

Possible origins for new characters could include:

--A member of the Tomorrow Legion, who is part of the Kingsdale mission. Someone with Black Market connections could be useful here.

--One of the Tolkeen refugees, who has stepped up in the downtime to become a member of the Legion. This also includes a couple of Coalition soldiers (possibly including at least one Psi-Stalker or Dog Boy) who were rescued from Tolkeen by the group and may have decided to hang out with the Legion.

--A resident of Kingsdale (a kingdom with nonhumans and mages, as well as a thriving line in augmented humans), who could have just about any profession. If you're looking for suggestions, a Juicer would be an especially good fit for the upcoming plot.

Re: OOC Thread:

A juicer would be good, but you have to appreciate that there's a slot into which someone playing a dragon might actually fit... And that would be amazing, even though my experience with Savage Rifts tells me that a dragon PC is actually complete crap. ^_^
