Chapter One: The Ashes of Defeat
A group of adventurers banded together to kill the Lord of a Dungeon. Seven ventured into the depths, six perished before the hands of the Lord. Yet one was stronger than the other, a magic swordsman wielding an ancient blade was captured instead. The Dungeon Lord found his will to live fascinating and has decided to keep him as one of his many "pets" in said dungeon. The young flaming red haired man is now being dragged off by Trolls to the cells in the bottom of the dungeon....

Chapter One: The Ashes of Defeat
Two large trolls carry him by his feet. Too tired to move Cress found himself tossed into one of the random cavernous prisons cells of the dungeon. "You sure dis gud place?" one troll says to the other as they leave. "Yes! Me make sure not to lock up with cute monster ladies! Me think?" the other states as they walk away.

"No matter, boss give us rewards!"
"Yes! Maybe whole leg of lamb meat this time!"

As the trolls fade into the darkness the red haired magic warrior lays upon the floor. His heart heavy Cress hardly finds the energy to move. Within the darkened room a purple flame engulfs the sword in his sheath. "What are you doing you fool? Get up!" the sword grumbles loudly.

"Regaltz...I can't...I...I-I lost..." he replied feeling tears form in his eyes. "On top of that everyone is dead! Dead Regaltz! D.E.A.D! How am I supposed to face another day knowing I failed to protect my companions!" he sobbed obviously taking it all to heart.

"Oh please, stop blubbering. Everyone falls down into the pit. Those fools had it coming, trudging around and mucking about like they were heroes or something! Pah!" the British speaking sword grumbles. Regalz lets out a sigh hearing nothing but sobs from his companion. "Hey...come on Cresstus. You need to pull yourself together, you aren't the only one who failed. Here I am a sword that can cut into anything and I couldn't pierce his magic barrier! That man was strong, no wonder he was the Dungeon Lord. You just have to keep moving and bury their memories in your heart. Come on man, you're much stronger than this!"

Sitting up Cress wipes his eyes taking a few moments to stop himself from crying anymore. Regaltz was right, he needed to press on. How many people had he seen live and die during his travels? His companions knew the price and fought to the bitter end. "I know, I just...hate eating dirt. It's not your fault either Regaltz, I knew you would have torn that man to ribbons if you could. Ugh, w-where are we?" he asked slowly standing to his feet. Catching himself on a wall Cress places his free hand on his forehead to stop the room from spinning.

[Private to Nisa Unamara: You can make an intro post, then after I will have Cress free your character! :3]
[Private to Sachiko Mori: Go ahead and make an intro post then I'll have Cress free you both in my next post!]

Chapter One: The Ashes of Defeat
As the magical swordsman looks about the small room he finds a small glowing pylon in the center. Softly glowing two chains, connected to it, seem to inch off to the darker parts of the cell.

Cress is not alone it would seem.

Chapter One: The Ashes of Defeat
Nisa heard the trolls drag someone into the cavernous prison cell and lifted her head of azure blue hair up so as to get a better look at the poor soul. She was more then a little surprised to see that this other poor soul was a human man. How long had it been since she's seen a human of any kind, well a live one anyway. Far too long she thinks. She wished she could get a better look at him, but the shackles around her wrists, ankles and neck prevented her moving very much. She hung her head and sighed softly to herself.

Nisa supposed this was the price she paid for refusing to kill an innocent that she was forced to fight some time back. Not that it mattered that she didn't cause her lord just took it upon himself to off the poor guy when anyway. Even now the sight of that poor man's death haunted her thoughts and dreams. He didn't deserve to die that way, he was far too nice of a man to die such a sad horrendous death. Nevertheless ever since that day she refused to kill him, she's been chained up in here. She hated it, it was like being stuck in a cage in which the only escape was death. But no...Nisa wouldn't allow herself to die in such a place, not before she got back at the one that left her and countless others down here in these cells to rot.

When the trolls finally left her and the new prisoner alone, Nisa lifted her head once more and gazed in the direction she heard the man's voice coming from. She then spoke out to him in a soft, but immensely sad voice. "You're in one of the dungeon lord's prison cells stranger. But unlike me here..." She struggled against the chains that bound her. "You have much more freedom then I. Although to be honest the word freedom is used very lightly. As there's no such thing down here in these depths."

Chapter One: The Ashes of Defeat
Sachiko's misery was interminable and profound. She swayed a bit as she dangled from the ceiling from the thick bonds of ice the Dungeon Lord had bound her with. His cruelty was inspired as she had to keep using her powers over her fiery passion to keep the icy shackles from spreading down her arms and entombing her in ice. This naturally had her deplete her energies until she collapsed from the effort from exhaustion. Then the ice would sear her flesh making her scream and writhe in agony until the pain inspired hate which fueled her passion and the cycle began anew. She had no concept of how long she endured this torture and she was so out of her mind with rage and pain she lost touch with her surroundings. She didn't care where she was or that she had no hope of freeing herself, she had only one desire really, which was to nurse a bit of her hate into something that burned brighter than the sun and was more pure then diamonds. When that was accomplished, she'd be ready to burst free and destroy the architect of her agonies.

Sachiko didn't really hear the trolls as they brought in the newcomer to her cell. She didn't even try to look their way to see what they were up to. Such trivialities matter naught when compared to her singular focus. She would explode like a supernova and claim her vengeance should it take a year, a century or a millennia to achieve. Her face was a mask of grim determination hidden behind the curtain of her golden, sweat matted hair.

Chapter One: The Ashes of Defeat
He jumped as a sullen voice called out to him. Turning he could see two figures illuminated slightly by the pylon in the center of the room. Did one of them have wings? Curious. Though he could hear the pain in her words and it tore into his heart. Any normal adventurer would take the opportunity to slay both Monster Girls that resided within the prison. Their bodies would be harvested and used to fuel potions, weapons, and rituals. Cresstus was different.

Growing up on the streets alone as a child he learned how precious life was. How fragile it was, after seeing so many of the other orphans die or be killed. Where he grew up was cruel, and it was something that always burned within his mind. Closing his eyes he moved over to the pylon and gently gripped the chain. He could feel it's weight, much too heavy for even him to lift. Yet it seemed to follow the voice of the woman who had spoken to him. The other chain started to grow colder as he curiously followed finding another woman dangling among chains of powerful ice magic.

The golden haired woman seemed too gone for reality, perhaps she had perished long ago? No matter both chains were connected to the pylon. Turning to face it Cress frowned. "...so you intend to break their chains?" Regaltz asked, his tone very serious. "They could have murderous intentions. Fore these are no ordinary women Cresstus. They're Monsters! Possibly flunkies of the Dungeon Lord himself! Are you sure you want to do what I think you're thinking right now?"

Cress glanced back at the woman who had spoken to him. "Yes I do. Regaltz you should know I don't really care. I've already made up my mind to escape this place. If I free some Monsters in the process then so be it!" he replied with boldness as he gripped the hilt of his sword. "Besides...I can't...leave them to die here buddy. For now I could maybe be their only chance at freedom. I don't care what happens to me as long as I save someone. Are you able to cut through this pylon?" he asked bringing Regaltz closer to it.

A dark flame surrounded the finely dwarven runed blade. "Hmmmm...yes. The magic in this pylon is powerful, but not as powerful as the Dungeon Lord himself! It's slowly grown weaker I can sense. Very well if that is your wish, I will help you Master. I hope you haven't dug your own grave." grumbled the sword. Obviously he was going to help, knowing that Cress had already made up his mind to free them. Regaltz often tested the boy to make sure he would not waver in his heart.

Closing his eyes Cress lifted Regaltz over his head. "I do not know who you are, but I will give you freedom. My companions were murdered before my eyes as I lay there helpless. Even if this won't bring them back, I can still give you the hope of another day. Embrace yourself!" he called out one last time to Nisa before swinging downward with all of his might.

The pylon split, melting like hot butter as the sword hit the magic. It groaned and creaked before bursting with light, causing the chains around both of them to instantly vanish. Opening his eyes Cress swiftly moved over to where the woman hanging from the ceiling was, hoping to catch her in his arms so she wouldn't get hurt upon the ground. Hopefully he hadn't made a mistake.

Re: Chapter One: The Ashes of Defeat
It wasn't the sound of the pylon splitting that brought Sachiko back to the present. Nor was it the bursting of her bonds and the end of the dolorous cold that tormented her so. She fell through the air, dropping towards the ground like a sack of potatoes. She didn't twist or turn in an attempt to save herself from damage from the fall so catching her was an easy feat. The intense cold still clung to her as Cress saved her from the fall.

Thump thump... Thump thump... Thump thump...

Sachiko felt more then heard the beating of Cress' heart. The rhythm of it called to her as a reminder there was something other then agony in the world. Instinctively, she nestled in close to him and the heat of his body. Greater still was the siren call of his hope and determination, his desire to see that she not suffer the fate his friends had. Her eyelids fluttered and then cracked open slowly. Cress could see the pain etched into them from her timeless torture but he also saw something akin to gratitude.

"You... you saved me..." Sachiko mumbled softly and shifted her arms gingerly and tried to wrap them behind his neck. "Tha... thank you," she added gratefully then slumped a bit, as if the effort of speaking cost to greatly. As she clung to him she basked in the warmth of his body and the passion for nobility in his soul.

Chapter One: The Ashes of Defeat
Nisa didn't have much time to react to the stranger's words before he used his sword to smash the pylon which in turn caused the chains that were once binding Nisa and Sachiko to completely disappear. More then a little impressed by his strength and skill, Nisa instinctively walked up to press a light little kiss on his cheek. She then leaned back and placed her hands on her hips "You have my thanks stranger. But do tell me how did a man with skill such as yours end up with the likes of us down here? It doesn't make any sense." Nisa dropped her hands away from her hips then. "Bah never mind it doesn't matter, regardless I'm still thankful to you for freeing me and other companion here." She tilted her head then and gave the man the most tenderest of smiles. "I'm Nisa by the way. I'm happy to meet you."

Chapter One: The Ashes of Defeat
Cress shifted his weight to allow the woman to relax in his arms with comfort. She felt so cold, and looked so weak. He smiled warmly as their eyes met and gave her a soft nod. "You're welcome. Don't worry I won't let you get hurt. Just rest alright?" he softly cooed blushing a little. She was pretty cute, well for a woman with horns. Cresstus felt a kiss upon his cheek and that caused his blush to darken a little.

"I'm Cresstus Edge, but please call me Cress. You're welcome Nisa." she seemed curious as to why he was here but he was glad she didn't press. It wasn't something he wanted to talk about. "I won't say much, but I'm the sole survivor of my group. I have no clue where I am to be honest but right now that doesn't matter." he sighed.

"Oh sure, ignore introducing me you fop! One kiss and you've gone all googly eyed!" the sword grumbled.

"This is Regaltz, don't mind him he's...got a mouth on him."

"Oh wow great introduction! Well I suppose it will do. Now then, everyone is rescued, perhaps it's time to rest up and figure out a way of escaping? Cutting that pylon in half really took out of me..."

Cress nodded. "Yeah that's probably a great idea. Sorry to kind of just cut your chains and rest. Yet for now I guess we could gather our strength. I doubt the guards will care, for now anyway." he mused with a wink.

Slowly Cress sat upon the floor, allowing Sachiko to rest in his lap. She felt so cold still. Taking a moment he pulled his blanket from his bag and wrapped it around them. Allowing her to be concealed in warmth. Looking up to Nisa he tilted his head out of curiosity. "I hate to sound rude, but who or what are you? I've never seen a woman with wings before." Cress asked his innocent eyes sparkling with interest.

Re: Chapter One: The Ashes of Defeat
Sachiko settled into Cress' arms as he shifted to make her welcome within them. She inadvertently ran her long nails across the back of his neck as he nodded and promised to keep her safe. Her eyes sparkled with wonder at his kindness and generosity after so so much pain. In fact, as he told her to rest she found it hard to believe he was real and this wasn't just torture inspired madness claiming her mind. She couldn't help but giggle when she spied his cheek flush darkly as he cooed at her tenderly while being kissed. "No... not Mad... I've never seen that color before... so nice," she mumbled accidentally speaking her thoughts aloud as Cress and Nisa speak to each other.

"Cress... Regaltz... Nisa... Sachiko me," the demon girl whispers weakly as Cress expressed his need to rest. As he sank to the ground, Sachiko snuggled in closer to him her breasts brushing against his muscular chest with every breath she took. She cooed up at him gratefully as he settled her on his lap then wrapped his blanket around them. The extra warmth of. It was appreciated, but not as much as his gentle, caring nature. She nestled her head into the crook of his neck and played her cheek against the curve where his collarbone met his throat in an affection laden caress as her thigh shifted and brushed against his lap lightly. As much as her body needed warming her soul needed to stir up his passions in order to truly feed.

Chapter One: The Ashes of Defeat
Nisa simply shook her head before taking a seat beside Cresstus and Sachiko. "No it's all right to ask questions. After all it's obviously your first time seeing girls that looked like us right?" She leaned back against the cold dungeon wall and sighed softly. "I am a bird tengu or to be more exact a raven tengu. The Japanese used to revere us as Shinto gods and supernatural beings back in ancient times, but nowadays it seems they consider us nothing more then legendary creatures that exist only in their old folkloric tales. Which suits me just fine. After all I have no desire to be a god or a supernatural being of any kind anyway. I am me, nothing more, nothing less."
