"Ah, miss Musashi," Jan VanderBeek looks up, seeing Lee grabbing a plate. He gestures to an empty chair at the table he is sitting at. The jovial morale officer seems halfway through his meal, checking out something on a handheld computer device. "Care to join me? It's always better to dine with a bit of company."

Nothing really just possibilities for the future. I expect anyone left on Earth would be dead in a few years from now, considering the condition when we left.

"If they are not already yeah..." Jan replies solemn. "On the other hand, 115 years is a long time, who knows, they may have found a way to save the planet. Maybe establish colonies somewhere. There were after all seven ships before the Marco Polo. Some of them at least should have completed their mission..."

"Who knows. With a thousand colonists per ship there are bound to be idiots on them sure. I'd expect them to be screened though, like we were."
He shrugs.
"As long as we don't know what happened its useless to speculate. All we know now is we woke up late, some guys sabotaged Marco, and bailed... Nothing homicidal there..."

Possibly, however only a few aboard this ship are privy to what surprises these mongrels purps left us. I can envisage some pretty horrid scenarios.

"Agreed. We might be killed by something unseen, unheard of yet. Or we might fall in the shower and break our neck. That is why we should all try to make the most of life. ARe you going to eat that dessert?" He prods his spoon towards the small pack of vanilla pudding.

Lee thought VanderBeek's question about the pudding a tad pushy. If she wasn't going to eat it she wouldn't have it on her tray Too right Sport; there's nothing like a pudding ta round things up she declared setting to with her spoon.

He turned his face into a mocked pout before laughing aloud.
"One must always try to see the joys in life Lee Jay. A positive outlook goes a look way. Try to laugh every day, even when life is no laughing matter!"
He placed his spoon back on his tray and stood up. Putting it all in the collecting cart he turned and faced her once more.
"Now if you'll excuse me. I have some marines to educate in the fine arts of cleaning a kitchen. Perhaps we can laugh some more later."

Blake will enter the barracks, late at night be his body clock, although that's no guarantee that nobody will be around. Finding a suitable place to eat, he sets down, ordering up a "fix me up" meal, heavy on the meat and protein, with potatoes, gravy and vegetables.

Late afternoon is a busy time, the mess hall crew of three marines swamped in work feeding all those on a break. VanderBeek supervises it all from a seat behind the counter, eyeing up the soldiers, workers and medical staff that come in to have a bite. Noticing Colt Jordan coming in he stands up to greet him personally.
"Good afternoon young man. It's nice to see they are waking civilians too. Welcome to the mess hall. It's nothing fancy, and will not beat the restaurants on the recreations deck, but untill those will be opened up, there is not much else we can do."
He quickly taps away at a personal notepad. Then he swipes it past Colt's wrist.
"Ah yes, Colt Jordan. It is good I we speak now. It saves either of us from finding the other later. The appartment assigned to you is at deck 22, appartment 36. You will find it has all the essentials for a single man to live comfortably. If you require anything you can always come and see me, as Chief Morale officer I'm assigned to the Polo to make all civilians as comfortable as possible. Unfortunately not enough are awake to justify depressurising Recreational yet. But no worries, we are but a day awake. It will all change soon, I assume."

Jen got a tray and began to put a little of each of the various offerings on her plate.  She added a few cheese cubes for the calcium and a cup of coffee for the stimulation it offered to her selections.  The Detective looked around for a place to sit.

From: Medical Facilities

"After such a long nap, food is food. I'm sure I'll get a chance to sample some of the rec deck food when the time comes." Colt said with a smile at the man. He stuck his hand out in introduction, though having it scanned instead of swiped was one way to meet someone. "Well nice to meet you. I'll check out my room after I get done eating. I'm sure everything will be fine. I just can't wait to get down on the ground and get to start driving." Colt said with a smile before he went off to grab some food.

After Colt filled up his plate with all of the essentials, he sat down at an empty table and began to try out the different foods. His stomach had been waiting for this meal for a long time. He noticed Jennifer looking for a spot to eat and gestured at the seat next to him, "Hey you were down in Medical earlier right?" Colt asked, feeling like he recognized her.

Lt. Maxwell looked at the man gesturing to her to sit down.  Usually, the black security jumpsuit kept people as far away from her as possible.  "Yes, I was at the Medical Section earlier.  I was checking on the status of one of the people assigned to my section."

Jen put her tray on the table at the indicated position, then sat down.  "My name is Lt. Maxwell."

"Was that Troy?" Colt asked, an understanding expression donning his face. "I talked with him for a little bit before he was sedated. He seems like a really good guy. And we all have him to thank for the fact that we're alive right now."

"Colt Jordan." Colt introduced with a bright smile. "So how did you get signed up for this gig? I'm assuming the whole lieutenant thing, the black jumpsuit, and the looking like you eat nails for breakfast means you aren't here just for grins and giggles?" Colt assumes with a chuckle.

Lt. Maxwell was about to take a bite of something that appeared to be some kind of hash.  "Yes, he is and yes, we do."  She left it at that, not adding anything else.

Jenni looked at Jordan with a strange look on her face.  "Get signed up?  This is an assignment.  I received orders at my last duty station assigning me to the Marco Polo.  I pared my belongings down to the allowed quantity and reported for duty."  She set her fork down.  "I'm ship security.  I should think that the badge, sidearm, and handcuffs would have given it away.  What is it that you do, Colt Jordan?"

Looking over  , what passes  for  food here, he'll take  what looks like 'snack food,  and a hot  cup of  coffee. There is a grin and a nod of his head to whomever is working the food line,..Thank Ya, Mate

He looks around the room for Ascott , either  heading to his table..or selecting one there is no one else seated. There is a nod of greeting to Maxwell and the other fellow as he walks past.
