THe republic of American States creates the world's first Space Navy in 3038. They claim to control earth space with twelve carriers and twice as many battleships. Many countries soon follow. A cold war for space begins, not lasting long as terrorists blow up the Utah orbit shipyard.

A Republic of American States mining colony was established on Mars in 2039. It was abandoned again in 2040, the planet not deemed suitable for terraforming. remaininf facilities were designated to be suitable for refugees.

A global convention assembled for the first time in 2041, finally uniting all nations in trying to find a solution to the earth core overheating. Several programs were started, none had any results yet when we lost contact.

In 2037 the Asteroid Galloper 7 was nuked to prevent it hitting the moon. The attempt failed, and the collision caused it to start a slow rotation. It did however destabilise its orbit, and calculations showed it would collide with earth in 38000 years. in 2039 calculations were redone, setting that time to 36000 years.

Ship AI has managed to gather some intelligence on 2043, filtered from messages drifting through the vast expanse of space. Officially CS-8 lost contact with earth in 2042, so reliability of these news items might be sketchy, and it is pieced together from various sources.

january 2043. Sad news reaches the entire world as the death of the last Rolling Stone is announced. Keith Richerds has died after a night of heavy partying, being hit in a head-on collision on the interstate. His Pagani Patrese crashed head-on into a road train at 310 mph. The driver of the road train has stated the Pagani purposely swerved into oncoming traffic, crossing 10 lanes to do so. Keith Richards was 100 years old. His 101st Birthday festival in Darthford has been cancelled.
His great-grandchildren would like people to donate some money to charity instead of sending gifts for the funeral.

Rock band PlasticParadise is the first band to perform on an off-world colony. Their concert on Mars had a whooping 10.000 people audience. That would be the entire colony. In February a rift tears up a large part of the Pacific ocean, causing world-wide tsunamis. Deaths are numbered in the millions across the globe.

In June 2043 a research group from Libia publishes a report indicating Terra's core is losing turning speed. Days are expected to last three hours longer.

August sees the birth of a new nation, as Mars colony declares its independence from Terra. GNA and US fleets both dispatch to Mars.

Also in august Fukushima powerplant explodes. Impact is gigantic as Japan experiences this global disaster. Fallout is enormous.

In September 2043, United States president Dwayne johnson releases a press statement, stating the USA has established a colony on a previously unknown planet in the Proximo Centauri region. US Space fleet sends a convoy there, using the upgraded Fushida-Jordan space drive. Convoy will reach Proximo Centauri in 4 years. On board nearly 25000 american citizens, mostly scientist, politicians and Upper class industrials. USA also upgrades its Lunar docks, tripling their output of new spaceships.

In october GNA officially accepts the three new hours of the Terran day.

Japanese Islands are evacuated. Surviving population is granted an enclave in Namibia.

In early December Taurus 1 is launched. This vessel carries a highly experimental drive, in theory capable of faster than light travel. The experiment is a failure when Taurus 1 explodes upon drive activation.

December 31st US declares they have launched the first colony ship of their won purposely designed for colonising remote planets with civilians of all classes and backgrounds. Equipped with the still experimental FTLAC faster than light engine, the vessel is launched from Lunar orbit. Named ARC-43 Clinton, the vessel makes a succesfull jump... and is never heard from again.

In January 2044 Taurus 2 is launched. Again the GNA faster than light drive is tested, and once again the vessel is lost. This time it does not explode, but rather it actually does reach a speed faster than light. Unfortunately, most parts of Taurus 2 cannot withstand the stresses of faster than light travel, leaving bits and peaces scattered across the Tarra system from Terra to Pluto.

In March joint efforts by GNA and USA to speed up the earth core fail. Due to earthcakes across the globe the earth spins ever slower, the core temperature ever dropping. It rains for seven days in the Sahara desert. Religious fanatics once again declare the end of days is upon mankind.

Also in March Gambia elects the first ever transgender President. President Maria Enkwele is extatic and declares it a victory for the world. To celebrate Mattel launches Transgender Barbie, with both high heels and combat boots, a purse and a machinegun. She is mostly sold in Texas.

In May another effert by GNA and USA scientists manages to heat up the earth core with nuclear bombs. Earth is once again at a stable temperature, and days are shortened back to just 25 hours. Some 100.000 people die from the fallout.
