Chapter Two: Dark Sun Rising

Nyenna stands up from behind her cover with a loose twirl, like a child playing at being a dancer. Her smile, rather than being wolfish, is eerily serene as she takes in the full extent of the destruction. This is true art, she thinks as she finishes her twirl, leveling her freshly-reloaded guns at the celestial. A pity there's only one target left...

13:39, Today: Nyenna rolled 10 using 1d20+5.  Bang.

The first shot flies past the thing's shoulder as it is pushed out of the way by Makaria's blast. Nyenna blinks, adjusts her aim, and fires again...

13:39, Today: Nyenna rolled 25 using 1d20+5.  Bang.
CRIIIIIIIIIIIT!
13:42, Today: Nyenna rolled 21 using 1d10+13.  Flintlock pistol damage (critical).

...hitting it right between the eyes.

Chapter Two: Dark Sun Rising

The next few seconds becomes a rather brutal dance as blow after blow rains down upon the Flaming Celestial, between being knocked down and sent flying it has barely any time to even react.

As it lies on the ground, it waits for Markus to walk over to it [Language unknown: "Osus ri Ac ni acwaon... Cewhe Oflo o Anul atiatiatence li notoulout ta herur. Ntol il whe som no, rutre ainsta'setill man: Na ent teion any ithbe saal ad butameiou unek."] As Markus slams the head of his mace into it there is a burst of flame and after it subsides all that is left is a small bright red glowing gemstone.

The lizardman saw the form of the celestial constrict in death and his body slumped as he let the rage slip from his battered body. Looking around at the devestated warehouse, "Any left?"

Lilith wipes her swords off and looks at the red gemstone. "I think Nyenna made sure there aren't any left. That was impressive, Red."

"Anyone know if this gem is worth anything?" She asks, sheathing her weapons.

Chapter Two: Dark Sun Rising

Markus bashes his mailed gauntlet against his chest twice and yells a rallying cry after completing his prayer to Asmodeus. He nods to the group and says, "The inquisitors chose well, behold we have found another heretic's stone." The bulky paladin kneels in the ashes of his enemy and examines the smoldering stone.

I'll bend down and grab the stone. Is it similar to the one we found before?

"I'm guessing we should turn this into the lich as proof of our success. Is it safe to handle?" She asks.

"In the meantime we should try and find any intelligence that wasn't blown up and be ready for city guardsmen who I'm sure are on their way here in numbers."

Chapter Two: Dark Sun Rising

You recall the Lich asking for a corpse suitable for questioning, presumeably this means meeting the requirements for a Speak with Dead spell.

As Markus's hand clasps the jewel, there is another eruption of flame that engulfs the warrior of Asmodeus.

Chapter Two: Dark Sun Rising

Lilith leaps back almost half the length of the warehouse as she is once again reminded that fire and vampires don't mix.

"I am very, very happy that I was not the one to pick that up," she says in a wry tone whilst waiting to see if they would have to carry the body home in a sealed box to make sure no important ashes were lost.

"Not his cock and balls though as he obviously hasn't used them in ages."

Nyenna twirls her guns as she steps lightly across the warehouse floor. "Ahh... the smell of burnin' black powder. Most beautiful thing in the world." She inhales deeply, then puts her guns away and stretches. "Let's take that one; he looks intact enough for the Skeleton-Man to posthumously interrogate."

"That was... not particularly impressive."

Makaria said as she swept down from the roof, her battle armor unmarred by flame or bolts.  Indeed, she didn't have a scratch on her.

"I'll admit I expected more of a fight from a cousin, even one so far removed."

She unhitched the smooth black surface of her battle mask, sheathing it in its cradle.

"Let us see if there is anything else worth confiscating."

"We'll need to move fast. As badass as that was, the explosion almost definitely got some heat on us. The guards may already be in their way here. Unless ya want to tank some more fools we should haul ass." Orson says, moving to the hole blasted in the wall to look for anyone that may have been alerted.

Chapter Two: Dark Sun Rising

Markus stands with a deep and disturbing laugh. He holds the gem in his left hand , the mace loosely in his right. The flames erupting around the blackgaurd seem to ungulate and circle him, almost as though he in a vortex. Before subsiding completely, the flames appear to form two huge wings on the blackgaurd and they withdraw within the Aasimar's core. The embers circling the mace seem to glow even brighterer and swirl with ferocity. "We must bring one of the dead. This creature's behavior is most strange, we should report back to the citadel at once." He nods to Orson, he advice prudent.

"Didn't I just say almost the exact same thing about the explosion and guards? I'm fairly certain I did." She grumbles as they group collects themselves before heading out.

Xul would move to the indicated corpse and sling it over its shoulder. With his club resting on the opposite he prepared to move out when the others lead the way. Big lizardfolk walking out first into a crowd with bbq cultist in hand would not be received well.

"We are chosen, blessed by our Lord of Darkness and Flame! Go back to your homes and remember to defy Asmodeus is to incur the wrath of the Inquisition! Here, you see heretics BURN!"

Makaria's quick scan of the building doesn't turn up anything new, although she does spot an item on the floor near the only none charred corpse.

At Markus's words, the crowd that has shown up disperses relatively quickly giving you plenty of room to leave the scene and return to the Lich in a timely fashion.

Chapter Two: Dark Sun Rising

Lilith follows, hands on her swords and watching their backs as they return from their first mission as a team, successfully and without losing anyone or any real injuries. Wealth and power would be theirs for the taking as long as they continued producing results.

Something she fully intended on doing.
