Chapter Two: Dark Sun Rising

Goltinder: The Dockmaster seems to have given you all the information he has, you're no stranger to bribes and it is likely that someone is throwing around alot of money if information is this lacking. However you have an address which is more than you came here with.

Nyenna and Co: As you make your way towards the warehouse/temple a boice calls out to you "Hey! State your business, don't you know there's a curfew?" turning to face the speaker you spot a group of six heavily armed and armoured gaurds bearing a house insignia on their armour.

You guys can roll History to determin the insignia.

Balasar: Although you make little coin with the games you do learn a thing or two about a rumour surronding the dissaperences in the docks, apprently an eye witness spotted a humanoid fish like creature dragging away their victim intonthe waters of the docks itself.

Chapter Two: Dark Sun Rising

Nyenna's eyes widen slightly at the sight of the insignia. She quickly composes herself, squaring her shoulders and placing her hands on her hips as the guards approach. Glancing across their faces, she picks one out and grins wolfishly. "Ricart! Haven't seen you in a good ten years. Do you still grab the slaves and hold them down while Mathias Arllen takes them from behind, or does he want to fight them for it now?"

As the others try to process what she said, the half-elf flicks her wrists, producing a pair of flintlock pistols as if out of thin air. Two shots ring out, and the guard to Ricart's left reels as his right eye explodes, while the guard to his right clutches at his knee.

00:00, Today: Nyenna rolled 22 using 2d20+5.  Shoot a guard (surprise).
Forgot to drop lowest. Raw rolls were 14 and 3, so that's actually a 19. Still pretty sure that hits.
Let's make that a Called Shot to the head. This guy gets disadvantage on his first Int or Wis check within the next minute and must make a Strength save or be stunned.
00:07, Today: Nyenna rolled 13 using 1d10+3.  Flintlock pistol damage.

00:08, Today: Nyenna rolled 21 using 2d20+5, dropping the lowest dice only.  Shoot a guard (surprise).
Remembered the drop this time! Let's make it a called shot to the leg. This guy moves at half speed next move action and must make a Con save or fall prone.
00:11, Today: Nyenna rolled 13 using 1d10+3.  Flintlock pistol damage.

WHAT THE FUCK. Apparently the dice love Nyenna.

Nyenna's eyes flash at the sight of blood. "Now run home to yer pathetic lord 'n' tell 'im he shouldn't just be watchin' 'is back fer Costan and Quintin!"

00:19, Today: Nyenna rolled 23 using 2d20+4, dropping the lowest dice only.  Intimidate (with some serious fucking advantage holy shit that was double max damage wtf).

Chapter Two: Dark Sun Rising

Orson: The men you are tailing seem to have either bot spotted you or they do not care that you are there. After several more minutes of walaking they stop at a warehouse, it looks well kept from the outside and a few  seconds one of them knocks on the door. You assume there is an exchange of some passphrase as you overhear the words "Lord and Lady's light guide us."

Almost immediately after they enter you hear a pair of gun shots ring out and as the sound is as loud as it is you can tell that they cam from realitivly close by.
___________________________________________________________

The guards have little time tonreact as Nyenna unleashes two shots into a pair, the one who took a bullet to the face recoils with a cry of anguish as he clutches his face. The visor of his helm partialy protecting him but with bllod pourong from under it is claer that the sharpnel will probally stop him from being able to use his eye permentally.

The other falls prone as his leg is torn open from the bullet wound, he to cries out in pain from the attack vlearly standing up will be an issue for this one.

The remaining four guards take a few steps back and their hands go to their swords and their leader Ricart draws his own sword "Maybe you'll see yourself once I'm through with you."

The 3 still standing are frightend of Nyenna, Ricart is fine, the one on the ground is prone and has reduced speed and the one who took the eye shot has disadvantage to hit and advantage on being hit.

Chapter Two: Dark Sun Rising

Lilith looks stunned for just a moment as Nyenna unloads on the guards, the leader of which she obviously knows.

Blood has been spilled and violence is afoot so she draws her two swords, curved and elegant in the manner of Drow weapons. She whispers a word and ice flows from the crossguards and up the blades with a cracking sound as freezing mist surrounds the swords. She looks at the guards and her eyes are crimson flame, her fangs fully extended and whispers again as she looks at the leader of the group. The sibilant word hangs in the air and the frost on her blade turns reddish as if filled with blood (Blood Curse of the Fallen Puppet). She doesn't hiss in the assumed manner of Vampires but roars, the sound primal, vicious, and monstrously loud.

Chapter Two: Dark Sun Rising

Makaria flinched as the sounds of the two pistols detonated in the crisp night air, dropping into a crouch.  Her right hand instinctively shot over her shoulder for the cloak that rested over her wings, and in a motion that looked to have been practiced a thousand times, drew it up and over her body to hurl it into the dirt at her side.   Before it had touched the ground her arm had reversed itself, drawing the black featureless mask that was holstered at her right hip and placing it over her face.  Hooked grooves within the mask caught the edges of her horns, locking it into place over her features.  Her wings took one huge scoop out of the air, and with a single powerful leap she hurled herself into the night sky.

She held the glaive clear of her wings with her left hand, blade pointed towards the ground.  The gauntleted fingers of her right hand clutched at the air in front of her armored breastplate.   Behind her featureless mask, she spoke three words in a voice that mingled the softness of an ocean wave breaking on a sandy shore with the buzzing of an angry hornet's nest.  Her fingers seemed to tear at the very fabric of reality itself, condensing it into a flickering tendril of inky blackness that she practically crushed within her hand.  She flung her hand out, and with a deep thrumming pulse the orb of darkness streaked out towards their foes.

Chapter Two: Dark Sun Rising

Nyenna's eyes narrow. "Oh, yeh really shouldn've said that."

Assuming Ricart's going to go for Nyenna...

She steps deftly away from Ricart, reloading her pistols with the serene, practiced ease of an artist painting a curve. Still grinning, she levels one pistol at his gut and fires. The bullet hits him in a rather... uncomfortable... place.

Bonus action: reload pistols.
Move action: five-foot step.
22:00, Today: Nyenna rolled 23 using 1d20+5.  Shoot Ricart.
Yes, this is a called shot to the dick. Mechanical effects should probably be similar to a called shot to the leg (i.e. decreased movement, must make a Con save or fall prone).
22:01, Today: Nyenna rolled 13 using 1d10+3.  Damage.
...THE FUCK, AGAIN???

Her grin turns to a smirk as he doubles over in pain. "I mean, fer one thing, yeh don't 'ave the balls fer it." Cackling at her own joke, she takes another step back and fires the other pistol.

Shoot and Scoot: when Nyenna makes an attack with a firearm, she can move 5 feet in any direction.
22:06, Today: Nyenna rolled 9 using 1d20+5.  Shoot again.

The bullet whizzes past his ear, and Nyenna cocks her head, obviously unconcerned. "Next one goes between yer eyes if yeh try anythin' else, yeh rat bastard."

The lizardman didn't even flinch when the small meat drew her weapons and unloaded into the group, in fact he seemed to react not at all to the drawn weapons and continued assault upon these lack luster meats. Reluctantly he reached over his shoulder to pull a vicious club-like weapon from his back, gripping the wooden handle he stalked forward steadily giving the vicious looking weapon a few practice swings, gauging the weight in his scaled fists. "Don't know what curfew is but from small meats reaction I guess you insulted her. Well before we get where we need to go no harm breaking in my new weapon..."

Ricart eyes Nyenna before his gaze falls upon Makaria and Lilith"Take the women alive, kill the rest." he says to rest of the guards "Lord Mathias will be thrilled with the gift after all." he then makes a swing for Nyenna, however her elven heritage is obvisally not just for show as she just nimbly sidesteps without any effort.

In response she plants a shot directly into his crotch and although his armour absorbs some of the blast he doubles over in pain as the bullet tears into him "KILL THAT BITCH!" he cries out while doing his best to try and stand back up again.

Chapter Two: Dark Sun Rising

Lilith snarls at the man, "Yes, take me alive." and moves in, her swords a blur. The japes, the mockery, and mischief she has displayed are gone, replaced by a deadly, methodical, silent, and precise swordswoman.

She moves in on one of the guards, her swords an arc around her, never still, trailing the crimson mist as she moves in a circular fashion, almost dancing, feet barely touching the ground. Her eyes are crimson portals to a horrific place of endless agony, fangs bared, and utterly silent. The change in her is almost enough to make wary her own team.

02:23, Today: Lilith Darkmoore rolled 4 using 1d4 ((4)). Crimson Rite Damage - Cold

Assuming everything hit she just did 27 damage to the guard. The GM is applying my critical hit damage to the second Crimson Rite so he took 33 damage.

OOC: If anyone dies or goes unconscious within 30 feet of her they immediately make a final attack on someone of her choice before falling dead or unconscious again (Curse of the Fallen Puppet). Ricart shall be her target for this.

Chapter Two: Dark Sun Rising

After Nyenna's initial salvo, everyone else takes the cue to engage the soldiers of House Arllen. As Markus steps forward the soldier wildly swings his sword at the Paladin, his blade just hits against the mace and the weapons just make a loud clanging noise as they do so. Another guard barely has time to react as Lilith strides up to him, her twin swords a fluid dance that promises death at her hands and a promise she can definitely keep as the first cuts through the armour quickly followed by the other that just runs him through; a gout of blood splashes up Lilith's body before the wound freezes over after she pulls the weapon free.

After he falls an odd thing occurs, the soldier stands back up; his gaze blank and staring off into the distance and as if pulled by invisible strings he turns and slams his sword into Ricart's back, breaching his armour and drawing a sizeable amount of blood before his death truely comes and claims him.

The blinded guard staggers up behind Lilith, however his swing goes wide as his one good eye is giving him poor depth perception. The one Nyenna shot in the leg stands back up and moves up behind Markus but the Paladin spins around and brings his shield to bear against the blow.

The remaining guard rushes Xul but not knowing the toughness of Lizardfolk scales his blade just scuffs them leaving his target unharmed by the blow.

Ricart stands up and moves toward Nyenna preparing to strike her, as he does so a blast of energy from the air above him strikes him centre mass and knocks him off his feet and flying backwards and onto the ground once more.

Goltinder arrives on the scene in a flashy way as a streak of fire collides with a guard, burning the cloak but otherwise just singing the man as he tears the cloak off his back.

Xul still has their turn.

You can use your Reaction to Pistol Whip Ricart.

WTF CRITICAL?
12:37, Today: Nyenna rolled 6 using 1d4+4.  Pistolwhip Damage (Critical).

As Ricart stumbles, Nyenna takes the opportunity to smash the butt of her pistol into his face, crushing his nose as her uncanny speed more than makes up for her obvious lack of muscle. "Pathetic," she spits.

If that downs him, I'll make it an attack to incapacitate. Nyenna wants to torment this one a bit.

Overlord Edit Ricart hits the ground hard and the sheer amount of pain he is in overcomes him and he passes out with the last glimpse of Nyenna's fury in his vision.

Dancing back once more, she reloads her pistols and flings out her arms to aim at two of the other guards. The first shot goes wide, but the second hits the guard attacking Markus as he recovers from his deflected initial blow.

Move action: back another ten feet or so.
Bonus action: reload.
12:46, Today: Nyenna rolled 7 using 1d20+5.  Shoot a guard.
12:47, Today: Nyenna rolled 17 using 1d20+5.  Shoot a guard.
I assume that's enough to hit, so...
12:50, Today: Nyenna rolled 4 using 1d10+3.  Flintlock pistol damage.
Aaaand there's that regression to the mean. Eh, the streak was fun while it lasted. Let's make it a bit more effective by having it be a called shot to the arm: half damage on next melee attack, and he's gotta make a Con save or drop his weapon.

Overlord Edit The Guard cries out in pain as the bullet digs into and through his armour forcing him to drop his sword in the process.

Feeling an itch the lizardman returned his gaze to the guard that had gotten close enough to take a swing... that had not even penetrated his scales. They were helpless as babes.

No one had thought to so much equip a single guard with a bow or crossbow, leaving them utterly defenseless against the Tiefling.  Her wing beats carried her far over their heads, raining down magic and fury upon.  In her winged glory, what did it matter if her craft found more pavement stones then mortal flesh?

Chapter Two: Dark Sun Rising

Parrying another blow with his Ram-faced shield the paladin brings his heavy mace to bear against his assailant. As his iron smashes through the guards armor he felt the man's soft body give way. The rush of combat heightened his senses and Markus felt Asmodeus' power surging within him. The mace glows white hot for a moment as Markus's hand lingers, savoring the impact from the heavy weapon before a gout of black hellfire envelopes the paladin's target. The Aasimar laughs loudly and pulls his mace back as the guard's body becomes wreathed in flame.

Action: Attack with WarMace [21] Damage: [7]
Bonus Action: Cast Searing Smite Fire Damage:[6] DC: 12

Spoiler text: (Highlight or hover over the text to view)
The next time you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack during the spell’s duration, your weapon flares with white-hot intensitity, and the attack deals an extra 1d6 fire damage to the target and causes the target to ignite in flames.
At the start of each of its turns until the spell ends, the target must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, it takes 1d6 fire damage. On a successful save, the spells ends. If the target or a creature within 5 feet of it uses an action to put out the flames, or if some other effect douses the flames (such as the target being submerged in water), the spell ends.

Nyenna brings her pistols to bare once again and sound of gunfire rings out again as both shots connect; the one between Lilith and Xul is just barely able to stand before Lilith runs a blade through his torso and sending a streak of blood onto Xul. The other bullet strikes one of the soldiers attacking Markus and the blow sends him staggering backwards breathing heavily.Markus can use his reaction to make a Opportunity Attack.

Markus slams his mace into the solider he has been fighting this entire time and as it connects the man bursts into flame, before he can even try to put out the fire he screams as the flames burn him to death. The last remaining soldier catches his breath and seeing how he is the last one left alive he instead decides to run.

The last Soldier is now 40 feet away from you all.

If she drops him she buries her muzzle in his throat and softly growls as she rips open the soft flesh and begins drinking the blood that spurts from the ruin of his neck.

Removing her foot, she crouches beside him and tears off his breastplate, then pulls a dagger. Makaria landed in front of Nyenna, her armored boots slamming down hard upon the pavement as she folded her winds behind her back.  Tendrils of whatever thrumming magic she employed still dripped between the fingers of her right hand, while the left still held the haft of her battle glaive low and to the ground.  At the very least, she had removed the mirrored black battle mask and placed it back in its hoslter.  Her features bore no anger, but neither did they look particularly pleased.

"What in the infinite layers of the abyss was that?"

She looked over her shoulder at the Blackguard busily looting.

Lilith frowns, quite put out at having her attempt at vampiric hypnosis so casually slapped aside but quickly recovers.

"What do you mean, 'vampire thing'? I simply asked a question. Shall we get moving as we are standing in the midst of something of a mess."

"Had I 'fucked off,' I would have deprived the Empire of one more agent to do the Emperor's will.  You are still a stranger to me, and you are asking me to put quite a bit of faith in your words.  That is not a small thing that you ask.  Yet Asmodeus's servant speaks true.  We have a mission, let's get to it.  We will see where the truth falls in the end."

With that she knelt, sweeping up the pouch Markus had thrown at her feet along with all of its spilled treasures.

"Well, there are two main entrances to the warehouse. One is the main door, which is guarded and takes a password to get in. There's also a side door that's locked, but they probably won't have much guarding it. I was hoping the dragonborn could get us in there, but I cant tell where he's gone. Then, the other idea I have is above. Must of these warehouses have a skylight, so we could have Wings fly herself up there and give us some low-risk supporting fire. Markus or Xul can tank the front, supported by Nyenna or lilith, while the rest of us go in the side and cut them down from behind. Any questions?" Orson finishes and takes a breath.

If Makaria took umbrage at being referred to as "Wings," while the other's had their proper names employed, it didn't show on her abyssal features.  There was little enough insult in being named for flight, when the other's were bound to trod the earth with heavy foot falls.

Between Nyenna and Orson, getting to the warehouse and setting up takes little time at all, espically with no active guards on the outside.

It does appear to be a general warehouse on the docks and has no markings to dictate ownership to any particular family or house, but the quietness of the night and the cold air make things seem far more peculiar.

On the roof there is a skylight that is currently closed but with a bit of effort could be opened from this side or even broken through if need be. Looking through it, those that have made their way up can see the a group of cultists in the middle of some sort of ritual and in the center of the ritual circle is a creature made entirely of fire.

There do not appear to be any sentries outside but a faint chanting can be heard from the other side of the door and the temperature rises the closer you fet towards the building itself now.

The cultists reach for their weapons and prepare to attack.

Chapter Two: Dark Sun Rising

The sound Nyenna's guns signals the start of yet another fight as she quickly ducks behind a shelving unit, the first cultist falls prone grasping his leg while the other fights through the pain as he keeps a hold of his gun, although before he can retaliate he is also struck by a crossbow bolt as Orson dodges back out of sight.

Dodgeing his way through Xul comes close to two other Cultists, however his thick scales shrug off the blows leaving him unharmed but being of fire seems to ignore the Lizardman but not before it raises a hand and plants a Sphere of Fire near to him and moves it towards Xul.
Xul takes 9 Fire damage, DC 15 Dexterity Save for half (4)

The being then focuses on Markus [Language unknown: "Our cape Sahiad thunt! Tr atneai traillove alou sta ho ro Manativen!"] It then draws a flaming sword and calsually walks closer to the Hellknight.

Makaria's blast shatter's the Skylight, sending shards of glass falling down into the room, two cultists dive out the way as the glass lands taking superfical cuts, but one is showered in glass and had several large shards digging into their skin.

The Cultist that took the brunt of the glass places a hand on himself and chants a spell of healing, while some of his wounds heal he is still quite hurt.

The Cultist that Nyenna knocked to the ground stands up and hobbles his way behind a barrel and aims his rifle at her, but the bullet just smashes a jar on the shelf instead. His partner however throws a bolt of pure light towards the Half-Elf but the Guiding Bolt goes just as wide and dissapates harmlessly against the wall.

The remaing Cultist launches a Bolt of Fire upwards towards Makaria but it just shoots pasy the winged Tiefling and fades out as it reaches the extent of its range.

Makaria remained perched on the roof, comfortable with the aerial superiority she had over their foes.  The Cultist with the flame magic would need to go, though.  Her mirrored battle mask was already on her face, and so none could see her lips when they began to chant.  Her right arm came up to touch the crystal implanted in the armor at her chest, and as she did it began to glow with a sickly green light.  She closed her eyes and whispered under her breath, the barely audible words both guttural and flowing.  When her eyes opened, they were filled with the same radiance.  She raised her right hand, which was bathed in concentric rings of twisted symbols, and pointed towards the man who had dared to craft flame at her.

"Aggra'kezos!"

She intoned, laying the First Curse upon him.  Then her hand formed a wicked claw, her lips uttering three words of roiling power that crashed upon the ears of those who heard them.

"Hazthresh'koth'arrandzi!"

Once more she tore an orb of pure void from the very fabric of reality and hurled it at the man she had cursed. It thrummed through the air as it struck, sending the fool sprawling backwards.

The paper fully disintegrates and the embers of burning parchment swirl in the air.

Picking his mace back in his free hand, Markus sticks the end of the iron weapon in the floating cloud of embers, the weapon now glows with a sinister force. Smashing the weapon against his shield and cocking his neck Markus channels his own reserves of power and calls upon the strength of the Citadel itself to strengthen his armor. Xul and Orson's attacks do little to deter the celestial's advance towards Markus, it however makes every effort to disengage with the lizardman leaving no openings for Xul to take advantage of. As it reaches Markus it moves the ball of fire at Xul again.
Same again Xul 8 Fire Damage DC 14 Dex save for Half.

The two cultists that tried to attack Xul before run after him and try again, one fumbles at the fearsome fury of the Lizardman but the other strikes a powerful blow against him.
Xul 7  piercing damage, already halved due to rage.

The other blade wielding cultists make their way towards the rest of you, one tries to flank Nyenna as she is behind cover while the other tries to attack Lilith but only manages to slap her ass with the flat of his blade.

The Rifleman that Makaria blasted returns fire after righting himself, knowing that cover is usless agianst an airborn target he first places a Hunter's Mark on her in return for the Hex. The bullet strikes her in the air, while it doesn't penetrate the force still hurts.
Makaria you take 14 pireceing damage.

Chapter Two: Dark Sun Rising

Well hindsight is a lovely thing is it not? I need to interrupt the action to deal with Nyenna's... carnage shall we say.

As the cultist trying to flank Nyenna makes his way around, the Half-Elf Gunslinger lets fly another volley. Her target has no time to react as the surprise knocks him backwards and into a barrel, which his flaming sword manages to pierce.

A chain reaction of explosions begins as the cultist at the centre of the inital explsion is incinerated instantly. Fortunetly none of you are near the secondary explsions, however Xul and Lilith feel the heat of them and are struck by small debris but it is a only a minor nuisance.

The same can not be said for the cultists however as the two that were trying to delay Xul are roasted, the one that had placed a Hunters Mark on Makaria has been burnt black and the one that Nyenna shot recently is charred; the only one to be sparred from this fate is the one combating Lilith.

One wall is almost completly blown out and is nothing more than rubble with bits of the ceiling collapsing in on itself as well, Makaria has a birds eye view of the destruction and it is terriyfing what this blackpowder can do in large quanitites.

Makaria and Orson have their full turns still this round and Lilith can apply her damage beforw anyone else posts.

A bright disk of glowing purple runes flickered into existence, catching the force of the projectile and sending it hurtling away into the sky.  She smiled down at him, though behind her mirrored battlemask nothing of her smile showed, and began to rip and tear another hole in reality to hurl at him.

"Hazthresh'koth'arrandzi."

The Celestial lashes out with two swings of the flaming sword it carries, the first clangs off of Markus's shield while the other bites into Xul. However the Sphere of Fire that was created dissipates into nothing as its concentration upon the spell falters.
Xul you take 3 Slashing damage that has been halved for rage and 4 Fire damage.

Between Lilith and Makaria the remaining cultist is removed from play, leaving the Celestial as the only creature left standing at this point. It seems to shrug off most of the damage it takes from Xul and Orson, although the Crimsion Rite seems to be getting past this defence. However there is a shriek of pain as Markus's Mace strikes true, the enchantment he put upon it giving him an edge now.
