Episode Three: The Spectral Faults

"As a matter of fact, they don't. Fallen Wardens are absolved of their duties after all. Lithuanwe Meliam steps from in between a few passers bye. He smiles warmly at Beloc. "I suppose we'll have to remove the statue now too, wont we?".

In a panic, Gheillyn snaps to attention and renders a salute.

Episode Three: The Spectral Faults

"I don't know, chief.  Beloc's making a new name for himself after his...resurrection.  Might want to leave it up a little bit longer.  Just in case."  Shiaran beams Lithuanwe a smile.  "I don't think we actually met back then, but I remember you from the airship."  Shiaran holds out a hand in greeting.  "Shiaran Whiteraven."

"A pleasure, Miss Whiteraven" he says as he takes her hand. "Speaking of ravens.." he says, as a black raven lands on his shoulder. "Porthos sent word of your return, though the details are scant. I believe we all have much to discuss. "

"Oh, yes, you there" he says motioning to Gheillyn. "As you were my dear". Gheillyn is finally able to drop her salute.

Episode Three: The Spectral Faults

Beloc turns around to see his old charge. "Much to discuss, indeed." He walks over clasps forearms with him. "Glad to see you made it back safely, but it would seem much has changed since then."

He looks over to Gheillyn. "Thank you for the escort. Oh, and if Quentillus ever gives you or your unit any trouble, ask him about the Canopy Dive maneuver. Even an officer of the Glen needs to reminded of humility from time to time." He says as he glances over to the large statue of himself.

Episode Three: The Spectral Faults

Gheillyn smiles. "Thank you, Warden". She salutes again, and steps off to rejoin her unit.

The walk to the Warden's Tree is brief. Krem elects to stay behind with Darius, as the climb upwards would be a challenge to him.

The actual stairs though, take the wind out of everyone but Rebort. By the time the party reaches Lithuanwe's private quarters, the view down is dizzying.

Once everyone is inside, a private attendee serves refreshments. The couches and easy chairs are over-sized and comfortable, but don't appear to be elvish made. The air is crisp and cool, and a light breeze snakes its way in through the vine lattice windows.

"Now then, let's get down to business. First and foremost my old comrade, thank you for seeking me out. It brings my heart great joy to know that you still walk among the living, and I'm sure the news is spreading like a wild fire throughout the populous by now". Lithuanwe muses to himself - "They'll be calling you 'Beloc the Undying' now, of course. But enough of my trivial prattling. Porthos sent word of more than your coming. He spoke to me of Kallium, and his sacrifice. Though the fact you were in the right place at the right time to meet him, as well as the foresight of Admirals Glen and Drigs to pair him to you, is astounding. Obad-hai's providence see's us through yet again. I take it then, that you are aware of his mission.. and I venture to ask that since you are here, you've taken up the mission in his stead?"

Episode Three: The Spectral Faults

Beloc stifles a grin at the new moniker, as it's significantly more intimidating, but nods solemnly at Lithuanwe's question. "He was meant to be our guide through this journey. Sadly, we lost him before it even started. I, we, will continue to see it through. The details he left in his journal will hopefully provide what we need to move forward, although, some details are a little hazy."

He sets his copy of the journal on the table and begins to walk Lithuanwe through some of it.

Episode Three: The Spectral Faults

Lithuanwe listens intently, and is genuinely fascinated by the discoveries. "Who would have thought, a gateway to the afterlife, and in our own backyard for who knows how many centuries, if not millennia. I was aware of some, if not most of the work Kallium did. Though his journal is far more intricate than conversations he and I had. For good reason too. Even among the good natured folk of our forest, corruption constantly looms in the shadows. He was wise to keep this a secret. And so too should you be. If word gets out what you're doing, the Palm will no doubt increase their guard on future Spectral Faults, though I wager that they aren't guarded too lightly as it stands. Still though, the act of closing them is a curious one. How do you intend to achieve this?".

Episode Three: The Spectral Faults

"Best we keep that to ourselves, chief.  The fewer who know, the less opportunity the bad guys have of stopping us."  Shiaran has her arms crossed and she is leaning casually against the doorframe, a cat pretending disinterest, but coiled to act should the need arise.  Something is missing of her usual charm.  Her tone is not curt, but formal, military - a tone she has not used before except when she is distrustful of who she is ostensibly showing difference to.

Beloc's posture stiffens as stares right back at Shiaran. "I have known Master Meliam for most of my military career, of which the last couple years of that was spent directly by his side. If there was any question as to who is loyal to our cause, there is no such person standing in this room. I trust this man with my life, so if there are any assumptions being made in error, perhaps they are yours."

Episode Three: The Spectral Faults

Lithuanwe holds up a hand, gently. "It's quite alright Beloc, I think Ms. Whiteraven may be misunderstanding my intentions by asking. I only mean to help you in whatever ways you ask, not in ways that I impose upon you. Perhaps my questions were too forthright. I haven't the means to aide you in the spiritual department after all, and my curiosity has gotten the best of me. I see in this venture much the same way Kallium did; know this. I want our lands back. I want our homes back, and for the constant threat looming over our heads to shrivel and die and rot in whatever self manifested hell they've created for themselves. But I'll not dare stray from my chosen path, because I understand where I am needed and where I am not. So let me rephrase myself, to you especially, Ms. Whiteraven. Is there anything I can do to assist you with your journey, or your preparations? I believe I've let my curiosities run amok too far, and for that, you have my apologies.".

A black raven comes hopping in across the floor, and looks curiously up at Shiaran. It makes a slight gurgling sound, almost like it's purring.

Episode Three: The Spectral Faults

Shiaran stands up straight off the wall now.  She glares at Beloc for a few more seconds than is comfortable for anyone before she turns to Lithuanwe.  With a tilt to her head, she takes in the bird first then looks at its 'master' - or whatever he is to the creature.  "Apology accepted, sir.  I meant no personal disrespect to you, but what Beloc fails to realize is that while only a few days seemed to pass for us, years have passed in reality.  A lot can change in that time, even those we knew as the closest friends from...before.  War does that to people.  The loss of home and family and friends, especially to this kind of evil?  For Beloc to just go blabbing everything to anyone not directly associated with our mission is foolish.  Were it anyone but you, I'd seriously be reconsidering our arrangement.  At this point, he just needs to be reminded."  Her hands are animated, punctuating her remarks with a slap to the hand or fingers in the air to count where necessary.

She pauses only for a breath, not giving Beloc or anyone else time to retort.  "We appreciate the offer of help and will have a short list after we've had time to decompress.  My first request would be for you to take our largest cargo off our hands temporarily and protect him.  Darius can explain more fully, but traipsing about in the trees with something like that is just dumb.  We can pick him back up and take him to where Darius thinks he needs to go after we finish with this Fault.  Beyond that, dinner would be nice, and maybe somewhere to wash up.  We'll talk about our other needs at the meal."

Shiaran folds her arms again and leans back, refusing to look at Beloc.

Beloc fumes at the implications. "I've been on the battlefield since before your elders were in diapers. I am well versed on the effects of war. Every man lost under my command serves as a daily reminder to me, so don't, for a minute, presume to lecture me on how one should proceed in times of war!"

Whether she decides to look at him or not, Beloc maintains his focus on her.

Shiaran stands up and flings her hands in the air as she shouts at Beloc.  "Then start acting like it, you anoetoi onos!"  She storms out and starts tromping down the stairs before getting winded about half-way down.  There she slows to a less angry pace until she reaches the bottom, then looks around fuming, completely at a loss as to where to go with no target for her anger down here.

Lithuanwe struggles to keep his composure as he looks at Beloc. "Well then, I'll certainly say you have your hands full". He waves a hand as his attendee, who rushes off to grab others to assist with gathering the needs and wants of everyone. "Is there anything else any of you will need? If not I should like to speak with Beloc in private".

Down below, Shiaran finds the Badger with Krem and Darius looking over everything, and shifting gear around to make offloading the stasis chrysalis easier. While Krem works with muscle, Darius works with unseen force to levitate objects around.

"Oy love, you look loik ya just been beatin' the snot outta someone".

A slight flutter of wings is heard as the raven from earlier lands on top of the Badger's turret gun, still eye balling Shiaran and purring.
