Episode Three: The Spectral Faults

Apache's target isn't paying attention, instead being fixated on Beloc, as the Fildegarian Shepard topples in to it and locks his jaws down.

Grapple successful

It struggles against Apache's weight but can't right itself.

Shiaran's turn

Episode Three: The Spectral Faults

Shiaran draws her pistols and takes aim at one of the unengaged pumpkin hounds.  "I got this one.  You take the big guy."  She starts unloading her clips into it.

Episode Three: The Spectral Faults

The pumpkin hound wounded by Shiaran rushes towards her and lunges, but Shiaran is too quick and side steps.

The other rushes Rebort.

Its jaws don't even register a scratch against the Warforged's mithril plates.

The Pumpkin King opens a maw around his bulbous gut, and belches forth a jet of fire at Beloc. As the flames lick and sway, the warrior elf is completely unphased, and unharmed.

"Well well well. That's an interesting shell. I think I'll....CRUSH IT" bellows the Pumpkin King, as he stomps in Beloc's direction.

Episode Three: The Spectral Faults

Sypher purses his lips and practically leaps across the space between himself and the Kingpin's leg crushing Beloc.  His movement and actions are silent except for the fiery whisper of his sword as it arcs through the air aimed directly at the monster's knee joint.

Episode Three: The Spectral Faults

The damage Sypher manages to inflict on the Kingpin's leg gives Beloc enough wiggle room to roll to the side and stand back up. The creature swings a massive forearm down to try and catch him off guard, but Beloc is too quick and the attack smashes the ground next to him.

"A little too big for your breeches, I'd say. Let's try on a different size, shall we?" Beloc places an open hand on the ground and dozens of tiny black tendrils start to race across the field. As each one spreads across the ground, they reach up and wrap around various forms of vegetation, including the hounds and Kingpin. The entangled entities rapidly begin to shift and contort as the magic takes hold and shrink its victims.

All vegetation within a 100 ft radius has its size reduced by 1/3. The hounds reduce from Medium to Small and the Kingpin reduces from Huge to Large.

Pumpkin Hound (1) already wounded and now shrunken, darts away from Shiaran's location, especially given the introduction of Sypher. It orients itself to run away into the fog, provoking an AoO from both Shiaran and Sypher should they so choose.

Episode Three: The Spectral Faults

Sypher also takes advantage of the hound's retreat, spinning clockwise so that his sword meets the thing's side rather than chasing its tail.  The thin blade slashes an equally thin line down the monster's side while white flame licks along the edges of the wound.  It appears as if the thing is bleeding white fire.

Yet Sypher has not finished yet.  His sword arcs up through the thing's gut, slashing through one of the pumpkins that make up its body.

The Pumpkin Hound falls apart into neat, sauteed slices like the artistry of a chef during the feast days.

Sypher flicks pumpkin juice from his sword, looks at the Pumpkin Kingpin with a grin, and winks.

Episode Three: The Spectral Faults

The Pumpkin King turns to face Beloc. "You seem to like playing with nature? Here then! Have some more!". The Pumpkin King grabs one of the dead fruit bearing trees next to him. It, along with others, has shrunken to two thirds size as well. He effortlessly severes the rotted wood at its base, and flings it at Beloc full force like a massive javelin tumbling through the air. Dead branches shear off from the sudden jolting, and a 10 foot intact segment a foot wide sails towards Beloc.

Beloc, reflex save DC 15 to avoid being hit by a flying tree

Episode Three: The Spectral Faults

With heightened awareness and adrenaline pumping, Beloc watches the Pumpkin King's actions intently. Time almost seems to slow down as the tree is hurled his way, but rather than sidestep it, he instead squares up and readies his blade. At the precise moment of impact, he lunges forward in a flurry of metal and splits the tree in twain. Each half passes harmlessly by Beloc as he glances up defiantly at the Kingpin.

Sypher uses the Pumpkin Kingpin's focus on Beloc to close back with him.  This time, it isn't just the sword that glows, but Sypher himself.  He channels his faith against all evil into the sword and strikes again at the same leg as before, attempting to sheer through it with steel and fire and holy might.

The Pumpkin King slumps a little bit unevenly as the lower part of his right leg hits the ground. "Tsk tsk. I guess we'll just have to even that up a bit." Beloc says, goading the large festival dessert.

He rears back and strikes at the knee joint of the left leg [20 DMG].

Episode Three: The Spectral Faults

Hound 2 struggles in vain against Apache, but it's reduced size has taken a toll on its ability to fight back against the military trained Sheppard.

Hound 3 is reduced to a slurry of plant mush, with a ghostly wisp left behind. It immediately starts to retreat, apparating to the ethereal plane to escape the sure shorted Rebort.

The Pumpkin King opens the fiery mouth on his stomach and makes a one legged hop towards Sypher, intent on biting him in two. Sypher reacts with only a split second to spare as the large bodied monster flies past him. He lands prone with a mouth full of earth, and starts to pick himself back up.

Episode Three: The Spectral Faults

The massive gourd body of the Pumpkin King starts to split and rupture. It lets out a loud snap and violently cracks open, sending out small jets of fire. The glowing, teal blue apparition of Zahkrif takes form, hovering above Sypher and Beloc, while the remaining pumpkin hound falls to pieces; its occupant fading away like the rest.

Zahkrif hovers safely out of melee range from the warrior monk and druid, and looks down on the pair standing in the ruined and smoldering mush of his former vessel. "The lot of you, are the first to beat me since I fell in battle some hundred years ago. This... irritates me, and yet I can't help but admire such worthy foes. Tell me, why have you come to this place of restless souls who are beyond eternal slumber?". His tone is still loud and boisterous, but the edge and venom he once carried is gone.

Shiaran, for her part, visibly untenses after Beloc speaks.
