Shiaran rolls her eyes and shakes her head.  "I really don't think we have time for an expository monologue.  He died.  It's a spectral fault.  One he tried to close before but did it wrong.  Now he needs our help to do it right.  You in?"

Episode Three: The Spectral Faults

From Rebort's point of view, the entire exchange is both fascinating and ludicrous. A surge of spectral energy unseen to the naked eye forms around Shiaran like an aura, and leeches over to Sypher. For a brief second, the warforged can see what appears to be a faint image of his former comrade in arms, Kallium.

Sypher's eyes suddenly emit a soft whitish-yellow light. As he opens his mouth to speak, it too has a mild glow. "Firstly, let's get this sigil removed and a proper one in its place. There will be time for all the unpleasantries later. And hello Beloc. You're looking well. Ah, and you too Rebort, my mechanical friend".

Episode Three: The Spectral Faults

Kallium speaks through Sypher again. "Initially it will just be me, acting through Sypher. The sigils are a powerful and old magic. Only the original caster of a sigil has been been proven to be able to break it. Once I've completed that portion of the task at hand, we can begin to set a new one. A new one that will have not one, but five casters, and will require all five to break. The Palm won't be able to put a scratch in this even on their best of days".

Episode Three: The Spectral Faults

"Yes Beloc. Though I should remind you, this is Kallium speaking, not Sypher. The sigil was designed to cap off the rift in the fault. Unfortunately, as I've eluded to, I made a mistake. The sigil was my work, and what was recorded in the journal. The sigils, or wards as Rebort refers to them, aren't naturally occurring. And to my knowledge, there is only this one, for now. I originally thought the fault rifts were an unnatural phenomena as well, but being in my current state, and receiving the tutelage of beings who have been long since passed before me, I discovered they are like gates. Gates to the afterlife, where the spirit is ferried to the great beyond to await their judgement and so on. By placing a functioning sigil over the "gate", if done properly, we can assure the deceased can still pass on, but the necromancers of the PCA can't use them to fish out specific or powerful souls to stuff into their abominations. If done right, they are protected from this sort of violation permanently. And that's precisely what I still intend to help you all do. For each of the faults".

Shiaran shakes off the odd feeling of having a mental passenger along for the ride.  She peers into the gate, attempting to discern all she can before the duration of her spell wanes.  "If we are going to do this, let's get started.  The PCA are all around and no doubt have some warning of what we're trying to do here.  That Zangief pumpkin guy told them for all we know."

Episode Three: The Spectral Faults

Over the course of the next hour, Sypher, under the guidance, or at times control of Kallium, works tirelessly. He weaves geometric shapes in the air, traces unknown symbols, and chants words that are not his own. Just as it seems to everyone else that the process is going to take forever, a stiff breeze blows from the directions Sypher is facing. It increases in strength until the heavy layers of fog start to become wispy white tendrils, billowing along and outward from the epicenter of magic. The fog doesn't recede completely, but it backs off substantially. A hole above opens, and allows what sunlight is available to trickle through the cloudy overcast high up over the orchard.

The winds die out, and the scene is still and serene. Rows of trees in various states of decay or withering can be seen, and they stretch for what looks like it could be a mile.

Kallium speaks through Sypher to everyone. "The Dead Orchard. It used to be a resting ground for the bodies of wood elves who have passed. A fruit bearing tree would be planted over where the deceased were laid. It was symbolic of us giving back, even after we've gone. Though, no one ever actually ate the fruits. Now, it has a blight. When the first PCA necromancers came here some seven years ago, they brought with them a foul taint. But even in death, our ancestors refused the sirens call of the necromancers, and instead passed on entirely. What last living connections they had to this mortal coil, they severed from beyond the grave. The Orchard used to be called the "Orchard of the Dead", but for obvious reasons it's taken on this moniker. Now then, I can feel Sypher is experiencing some fatigue after this event, so I'll give him a moment to rest before we five begin our work. It should take less time than my removing of my sigil, as we have the work split five ways. Are there any questions in the mean time?".
