Re: Chapter 4 A New Direction

Jenouise noted the new wonderful things Ligeia was wearing. She got close...very close. Her wide eyed stare was one of clear fascination. Finally she spoke, ”I love what you’ve done with your hair.”

Rubus tries to explain. Others went directly west at the blight. Maybe approach from a different direction...?

"They did so to avoid a divigation into EastWilde March," chides the priestess. "We could track southwest through the woods until we reached the Fayflower River. But what of the wagon?"

She smiles at the fawning clown:

"'If you're going to Blackwell Manor
Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
If you're going to Blackwell Manor
You're gonna meet some gentle people there.'"

Re: Chapter 4 A New Direction

I am for the direct approach and I will ride in the wagon as I can be of use at range more.
However,to gain your support in arms, I will accept any plan that has us going to the Manor.

Re: Chapter 4 A New Direction

Rubus is ready to follow. He'll walk; perhaps it would be slothful or prideful to ride while others walked.

Re: Chapter 4 A New Direction

"Since time is of the essence, I think we should take the road west until we can see the mist." as he listened to the comments of the others. "I also think we should appear to be of little threat as we travel on the road." as he looked around the group.

"I think we should tether Alaric goat to the wagon, with Afamrail, Ligeia, Alaric, and Rubus riding inside." as he looked at Jenouise. "Do you think there is room for the four of them to ride comfortably? I will ride up front with Jenouise."

He paused for a second, "When we reach the mist, we will reevaluate our options as far as route and modes of travel."

Re: Chapter 4 A New Direction

Jenouise shrugged, "Most everything folds up so yea, they'll all fit. Whether or not it is comfortable is for them to decide." She turned her attention fully from Ligeia to Gorn, "I think you and I will be fine up front. You can even drive if you want. My mule is very nice and tame. He likes you I am sure of it."

Ligeia hops aboard the good clown's wagon and ensconces herself within a cushioned spot that also affords access to fresh air and scenery.

There are little flaps that can be opened with pull chains. They provide a 1’square to look out of, all are about center height. There are sliding bolts that lock them closed, and clearly havn’t been opened in a loooong time. ;-)

Re:Rubus obediently climbs in Chapter 4 A New Direction

Once everyone is inside the wagon and ready to travel, Gorn climbs into the seat next to Jenouise. "I'll let you drive, that will leave my hands free if we are attacked." Pointing at the streets, he gives Jenouise instructions on how to leave town and head west on the road to Blackwell Manor.

Once they are out of town, Gorn eyes scan their surroundings constantly, wary of situations like they encountered on the road to the monastery.

Nay I will take up the rear with the goat, he is a good steed and if tethered cannot be of use.  I will be of better use free on him.

Alaric rides behind the wagon with his goat. About 10' behind.

To the Manor

The group together in Jenousie's wagon ride unimpeded if not cramped through the streets of Blackwell Village with Alaric trailing behind.  There seems to be nobody about, or if they are they are pretending not to be about.  A couple of shut doors and drawn shades make it clear the village residents are not fans of strangers or would be heroes, not matter your intent.  There seems a definite general fear over this village.  Passing over the Fayflower Bridge it is easy to  see where the Fayflower river turns brackish as it joins the ocean.  The Eastwilde Marsh sprawls out to the West.  There are no encounters of note, save a starving cat or dogs running away from the mule and wagon as it ends up at the crossroads of the Coast Road and the Manor Road heading west. Here is an aging statue of a Messiahn Knight
As you turn the corner you are greeted by the large statue of Matinus Blackwell, "Giant Slayer", "Founder of Blackwell Estate" The statue seems carved out of solid stone but is smeared with years of mold streaking it with black stains here and there. It is hard to not notice these streaks almost seem to make it look like the statue is crying.  The Manor Road appears to have been well maintained at one time lined with manicured trees on the North side by the marsh and picturesque farms to the South.  The farms are now abandoned and lay dormant and the trees seem to be struggling to survive.  The Manor Road itself seems long unused and what once was well maintained gravel seems strewn about and buried by years of rain and storms.

 The Monument reads:

Martinus Blackwell - Giant Slayer
Founder of Blackwell Village
 404 AA
In service to King Childebert I

Gorn motions to Jenouise to head down the Manor Road, not giving much attention to the statue. He maintains his focus ahead of them watching for anything that may be out of the ordinary.

To the Manor

The group travels along to the west where the road runs along the marsh to one side and the remains of abandoned farms on the left.  Despite the many years of being unused, nothing seems to be growing here at all including weeds or scrub.  The air is very quiet and the water in the marsh and the Fayflower River rolls along very slowly.

After about 2 miles, ahead on the road there are a group of large crab's almost the size of a Furfoot. They are crawling on the road 100' ahead of you. ( map forthcoming)

 All roll for Initiative.
 All roll a Wisdom check

Rubus is slumped, dozing, unnoticing. However, it is quite possible he knows something about the creatures ahead.
