Re: OOC: Redeux

I'd be willing to try it. I've joined PF2 games twice on here, and neither of them took off. It's got ton of character creation choices, which is as much a con as it is a pro in my book, as that many options is bound to present the illusion of choice. I'm more interested in 5E, but I'd give PF2 a shot.

I've never done pathfinder but I'm willing to learn! I've been on here a million trillion years too and I'm not going anywhere so I'm up for whatever!

Re: OOC: Redeux

The game has been purged. It's just us four. I have to say that I think sticking to 5e is a better idea. At least we are familiar with it.

As for the game, if we restart, It will be from scratch with just the people currently here. I will archive the rest of the threads for posterities sake, but we will start afresh.

Thoughts?

Re: OOC: Redeux

Threads have been purged. I'll wait for Griswold before we continue. I want to know if he is in.

I would also like to point out that my life has significantly eased since we last played. I am retired from the military and working from home, for the most part. I do have time to post. I have also learned a lot from running in-person games and that will hopefully make the stories more enjoyable.

Re: OOC: Redeux

I'm still here and interested in playing :)

What do you mean by start afresh though?  If you mean from level 1, I probably will make an entirely new character.  Griswold already got knighted.  Would feel weird to start over with him as a squire again.

Re: OOC: Redeux

My homebrew world has gone a lot of changes since we started. I think we should start from scratch. New characters. New storyline. New setting(if wanted).

Re: OOC: Redeux

Sounds good to me, though I don't think we need to change the setting - you have put so much effort into the world building.  Unless you mean moving our attention to a different country within the same world?  If so, I'm definitely interested in exploring one of the other cultures.

Re: OOC: Redeux

How about this for a prompt?

Located on a small island, nestled between the Empire of Krieghold and the lands of the Savannah Queens in the the middle of the sea, lies the former kingdom of Amur. A city-state that played neutral party between the traders of all kingdoms, it was the hub that would rival even Sirai’s massive port. But like so many fallen kingdoms, it fell prey to the greed of a dragon.

Valketh the Stormbringer, an ancient black wyrm, used a mighty spell to batter Amur with wind and waves. Using the storm as cover, Valketh raided the main keep of the massive city and claimed it as his own. Now, centuries later, the ruins of Amur stand as testament to the power of an ancient dragon.

The city of Amur, the surrounding jungles and towns, plus a small port are still occupied. Gatorfolk, kobolds, and dragon cultists guard the ruins and pay homage to Valketh as he slumbers in the now sunken keep. Treasures abound in the ruins, waiting to be claimed, if you can get out alive.

Re: OOC: Redeux

I thought something a little old school might set us on the right path. Plus, you can be from anywhere in the world. Backstory, class, and race are all on the table. No restrictions as long as you can put a good story to it.

The only thing I'm not really playing right now is a wizard, so I might make another one. I'll give it some thought, though.

Re: OOC: Redeux

Obviously it would help if the party has a shared backstory, but it is not required.

Re: OOC: Redeux

I'm fine with you playing a wizard again, if you like, Wrenn.

I've come up with a concept for a somewhat unusual (and a little edgy) character.  More for story than min-maxing, the best fit for them would be:

Race:
Changeling/Kalashtar

They wouldn't actually be either of these, but the concept best fits with the themes presented by their racial rules.  At the moment I am leaning more towards Kalashtar.

Class:
Twilight Domain Cleric / Shadow Magic Sorcerer / Hex-Blade Warlock / The Undying Warlock

The Twilight Domain Cleric is the least appropriate, but I thought I'd offer it up in case we need a healer of some sort and I am interested in playing one.  I've played grave domain clerics before so I'd rather not do that and though death domain would also fit, it is considered a 'villainous' option and (imo at least) is a little overpowered.

Point is, with this character, I am happy to customise them to fit whatever we need.  Though they'd make for a weak 'tank'.

Re: OOC: Redeux

Undying Warlock is so incredibly bad, it's not even funny. Unless you're in an undead-heavy campaign, you might as well not have a subclass at all. I've been playing one now for 4 years in a PotA game, which is undead-lite, and I regret taking that subclass every time I think about it.

Here are all of the things that I'm considering, all of which I've just not had a chance to play yet, in no order at all.

Echo Knight Fighter
Fathomless Warlock
Stars Druid
Shephard Druid
Bladesinger Wizard
Scribes Wizard
Swarmkeeper Ranger

Re: OOC: Redeux

Well, I’ll leave the final choices to y’all. Remember that the races don’t have the same background as listed in the books, so you can come up with whatever. Kharash did it for dragonborn and made them a nomadic tribe people.

Re: OOC: Redeux

While you mull on character stuff, discuss if you want to start knowing each other or not. You’ll be starting in Sirai no matter what. It’s the closest launch point to Amur.

Re: OOC: Redeux

Having an established relationship certainly smooths out the introduction. Working an escort job for our starting gold can work for any race/class/backstory combination.

For a lot of other things, I'd need to nail down which character I'm going to play before I would know the best way to tie them to another.
