Re: Intro
"You 'ave an 'eadache?" said an overly cheerful voice from behind Nikolai, "I think I might 'ave something for that!"
Allie rummaged through a bright pink backpack covered with sickly cute cartoon characters, and after dropping a number of things without comment she pulled out a bottle of alarmingly strong painkillers, and shook them in the Russian's direction with a twinkling smile.

Re: Intro
"Kakogo chyorta!" Nikolai exclaimed in shock as the girl suddenly spoke, jumping visibly. He turned a haggard gaze towards her, meeting her innocent, smiling countenance with furrowed brows and a very perturbed expression.
"Vat do you vant, leetle girl? I vas talking to myself, not you!" He said, giving her a scathing glare. He had his suspicions about her sneaking up on him on purpose. Some children were innocent creatures, but the vast majority were devils with excellent acting skills, nothing more.
"I do not need pills. Please go away, I am not in mood for child's antics." He continued, hoping she was the sort of child to take a hint and go with it, rather than the devil kind.

Re: Intro
"Me neither!" she said with the tone of someone blissfully unaware that they're being anything other than pleasant, "I'm very mature for my age." she proudly reassured him as she began repacking her bag.

"I am Allie." a hand poked out happily towards Nikolai, once again accompanied by a beaming smile filled with expensive teeth.

Re: Intro
He was struck speechless. A hundred different reaction to this child, whether she was truly naive or just precocious, went through his head. Most of them were rude, unpleasant or both. Anything to get rid of this unforeseen nuisance.
"I... You..." He muttered, trying once more in vain to simply glare her away.
Finally he sighed deeply enough to make any martyr proud, and took her hand, shaking it cordially before letting go.
"Nikolai." He retorted in a defeated tone.

"Well, no I, I know, and I do appreciate it. I was just wondering where the rooms are is all."

Mary said, rubbing her hands together in a self comforting gesture. She didn't know who these people were,  but she felt as though she was blowing her first impression. It wasn't long before Mary felt a familiar weight on her back,  she looked up for a moment to find a man starring at her. She held his gaze for less than a second before looking back down again. Mary wondered briefly if enrolling here was a mistake.

Allie positively glowed as Nikolai shook her hand, she had begun to think he didn't want her around due to his terseness, but surely this was a sign of his desire to be closer!
"Oh Nikolai!  It iz a pleasure to meet you, I 'ope we can be good friends!" without asking permission and without hesitation she turned the handshake into a holding of hands, which she swung with great affection and enthusiasm.
"So, did you win ze competition too?"

Daniel looked on confusedly at what was happening. "Ah, yes, welcome Nikolai. I, uh..." he started, before the brusque Russian stormed off.

"...Alright then," he said. "Not really the friendly sort, is he?" Daniel wondered out loud.

Re: Intro
A tall girl sat dozing against a tree. She had been napping on and off for the trip, more off than on. A car trip, a plane ride, a van ride... why couldn't they wait a night and give folks a chance to acclimate? Honestly, the jet lag was worse than the other pain in the neck at this point.

When she was diagnosed, it was almost like a movie. If it were, that would be the moment for an iconic line, like 'She'll never dance again...' Waiting for that line terrified her, yet the scary part was, a tiny part of her would have been relieved. Nope, instead they were off to another stuffy, authoritarian, 'so much better than thou we sent Double O secret agents to make sure you don't jump out of the car' school. She rubbed her eyes and forced herself up once the yelling of children drowned out the sounds of her dreams.

She glanced around, then spoke the first thought that came to mind. "Oy, why's everyone wearin' them fancy neck patches? Don't tell me another bleedin' Hollywood vamp movie came out this month."She joked with a kidding smirk, then yawned as she walked forward.

Re: Intro
"Well, you all seem relatively sunny." called a sarcastic voice. A figure leaned off one of the columns of the balcony, and emerged from the shadows.

It was a boy, who couldn't be older than 20. He was tall with teasing dark blue eyes, and a shock of shining silver hair was rumpled like he'd slept on it the wrong way. He was wearing casual jeans, a T-shirt, a bomber jacket, and a grin as wide as the sun. Not vicious, just eerie.

The boy spoke again, this time leaning over the balcony. "Welcome, children!" He seemed to consider this for a moment, then added "Well, I guess I shouldn't call you children, seeing how old some of you are. No matter," He clapped his hands twice, and the doors underneath the balcony opened in sync. "Come in! Come in! I'll meet you downstairs and we can have a chat."

And with that, he left the balcony.

Not letting go of Nikolai she began tugging at his hand, it was like watching a Yorkshire Terrier pulling at a Great Dane.

Arthur was surprised at the paranoia some of his peers were expressing. Sure, things were a bit unusual, but this was a school event, run by Lacaille, who'd been basically running the educational system for most of the world for as long as he could remember. Arthur would be able to prove his worth here, and once more people would like him!

He quietly walked forward, sparing a few glances for Adrian who he hoped he hadn't offended.

"Do you not see the oddness of all this, mature girl?" Nikolai asked the child incredulously, as if it should be obvious. "He appears out of nowhere, gives no name and expects us to follow. All of this reeks of suspicious doings."
For the moment he did not let her pull him along, wanting first to see whether even the other older youths would simply follow this stranger blindly. A small part of him hoped that impatience would cause Allie to let go of his hand and move ahead.

"'Mature'?" She repeated the word questioningly. It was the catch 22 of words, if you're old enough for it to be true, it's usually an insult, if you're young enough to want it to be true, it's probably not. Angie was still in the later camp, she grinned happily.

Her train of thought was derailed again, what were they talking about again? "Odd? Yeah, I guess. Most fancy chaps like to make a scene though. If I know anything about top schools, the kid probably wants a microphone and a podium before he graces the rabble with a name." She mimed a monocle and tophat as she stepped forward, winking to the cute kid tugging at the suspicious man. "Either way, I'm not camping, and probably won't make much headway hitching for a plane at this hour, might as well head in?" She spun gracefully and stepped in after the others.

Re: Intro
The moment Mary made eye contact with Adrian, he looked away and down, wincing. He turned, watching along with everyone else as the strange man came it of nowhere. Weighing the wisdom of following everyone into the building vs staying outside alone, there was no question about it, he wanted to be inside the school. So he followed the others, keeping what distance he could from them. Arthur's glances were met with a heavily guilty look, as if Adrian was apologizing for his very existence disturbing the other boy.

"Vas not talking to you." Nikolai retorted to the older girl who rudely forced her way into his conversation. "But... I suppose there is sense in vat you say." He admitted grudgingly. As he moved to follow the others, he once more leveled a heavy gaze on Allie. "Is coming along like the rest. You can let go of hand." He said, trying to carefully extract himself from the child's vice grip. He could have simply forced her to let go, but he didn't. He may not like the brat much, but that was no reason to risk harming her. He wasn't made of stone, after all. Much though he wished to be at times.

Allie let go of Nikolai but still orbited around him like an eager puppy, though there seemed to be genuine conflict in her eyes as she wondered if she should follow Angie, she seemed nice too!  But ultimately the grumpy Slav won out (or lost out).

"Oh... Well, my name's Angie if you or anyone else do decide t' 'ave a little chat." She rubbed to sleep from her eyes with her sleeve. She obviously wasn't paying quite enough attention to who was doing what given her mistake, but didn't seem to care as glanced back with a smile at the Russian and the girl circling him.

Re: Intro
As they went inside, Nikolai doing so only grudgingly, he mused on the two women that had adressed him. The little french one seemd to have, for some inexplicable reason, latched herself to him like some more invasive kind of parasite. He was leaning more and more towards her not being an innocent, but a small engine of turmoil that could sense where it was least wanted. i.e. the more common sort of child.
This "angie", however, seemed to also take some kind of weird interest in conversing with him, despite him clearly indicating with both words and facial expressions that he was not interested. Although she should feasibly be more aware and mature than Allie, she seemed to also conveniently ignore his cues.
If this was the norm for women from outside Russia, he could not fathom why his father had not prepared him better for such circumstances.
He had always been led to believe that his demeanor and appearance was considered disconcerting, if not downright unpleasant by most people. But if these two girls, and God forbid perhaps others in the group as well, were somehow attracted to things that were outside the norm, Nikolai feared for his future chances of getting any sort of privacy.
He would have to invest in a room with locks. And perhaps a book on how to get children to leave him alone without doing something damaging or criminal.
"Dis is not a good start." He muttered to himself as he walked on with shoulders slightly slumped, his newly acquired sattelite girl hovering around him.

Re: Intro
The inside of the building was as gorgeous as the view outside. The candidates entered into a large main hallway that flowed into a sitting room with various plants. Underneath the glass floors, a man made stream ran. In the large sitting room, the entire glass floor was above a large pool of water, making it seem as if you were stepping on nothing but a pond.

At the back, a large arm chair faced away from a glass pane mounted on the wall.  The furniture was wooden and white, shaped geometricly. They ranged from abstract couches to clear vinyl 'eggs' that hung from the ceiling to make chairs. Despite the formality of it, the room looked homey and comfortable, with a crackling brick fire place on one end and fluffy blankets piled on a shelf. If the candidates had turned around when they entered, they would have seen that the entirety of the wall had that same glass pane taking it up.

Re: Intro
The boy took the armchair and gestured for them to sit. He looked around.

"I suppose introductions are in order, yes?" He laughed. "Not really. I've read all your files, I know who you are. And me, well, I'm famous. But for those who somehow don't know me."

He tapped the glass on the wall behind him. Immediately it lit up, and several pictures and news articles popped up. They all centered around one man, one name:

"Nico Lacaille, at your service." Nico gave a mock bow with a flourish of his hand. "Now if you failed to get acquainted out there, why don't we go and a circle, say our names, hmm?" He clearly seemed to be playing with them, but if there ever was a time for proper introductions it was now.

Arthur took a seat, posture attentive and a little star-struck at meeting an actual, honest to goodness billionaire. He didn't notice anything odd or suspicious about his attitude or tone, certainly. He followed Allie's lead and raised his hand next. "Hello, my name is Arthur Girard. It's nice to meet you all." Arthur gave his fellow students his best friendly smile. Like Allie, he also had a French accent, but his was far lighter; the rougher edges had been sanded down by years of practice.
