Story Synopsis

Date: Tuesday, Feb 2 1932.
Mickey and Doc are employees of Irish gangster Jack ‘Legs’ Diamond (deceased), and are on the run from the New York cops who were in the employ of Dutch Schultz and wasted their boss.

The 4 year old float plane carries 180 bottles (20 cases) of hooch ordered by Legs. It is painted with a Milk of Magnesia logo. Aboard the plane are Amelia, Rene, a French surveyor who is helping her, a cowboy, the pilot and his Native American assistant.

Mickey and Doc were due to collect the booze, but they thought it had been paid for. Flyboy and Scout have not been paid, though. A Canadian gangster called Paul has pocketed the cash. Mickey and Doc get aboard the plane as a police car approaches.

Flyboy takes the plane to Burlington, in the hope of buying fuel and selling the booze. There are some tensions as it appears the locals are in the pay of Dutch Schultz, but they fail to get a message to kill the visitors, thanks to Scout. Amelia pretends to be an actress.

The party picks up an African who pretends to be leading them to a fishing venue for a movie shot. In reality, he is escaping from the local bad guys and shows them a place to hide their illicit stash for a while.

The plane takes off, and lands on Silver Lake, at a trapper’s cabin pointed out by Munro, the African. The party has dinner, they unload their booze in the woods, leave Rene and a drunk Doc at the cabin, and the rest of them fly to Lake Placid.

The plane ties up at a jetty on Lake Placid, most of the party go to a speakeasy in the local sawmill, while Amelia asks Flyboy to taxi her across the lake to the Lake Placid Lodge, where she has a reservation.

In the sawmill, Si, Mickey and Charlie meet some other people and are offered a bed for the night in the barn.

When Iain,  Munro and Amelia go across to Lake Placid Lodge, they are met by a man called Ed Henry, who is a plane designer and offers to help Iain install a new ignition system in his plane. It's costly and will lay the plane up for a day or so, but Iain thinks it'll be money well spent and agrees to meet Ed on 4th at Mitchell's Boat Repair on Sarnac Lake for the upgrade.

Amelia installs Munro in the servants' quarters, posing as her valet, and meets Horace, the concierge. She is introduced to her room maid, Bernice, and turns in for the night.

Chronicler's Assumption:
Iain returns to the sawmill and meets Mickey,
who tells him he has a customer lined up for the whiskey, so Iain flies back to Silver Lake to pick up the booze and, now that they have a place to stay, he picks up Doc and Rene, too, bringing them all back to the sawmill for the night.

Story Synopsis

Date: Wednesday, 3rd February 1932.

Next morning, Amelia meets her contact, Bill Pulestown. Bill has been called away, but arranges for her to meet his replacement, Artemis Richter, at a bookshop in town. He also tells her that the Concierge, Horace, is an American Agent. Amelia is given a code book.

After breakfast, Amelia goes to the bookshop and meets her new contact, who shows her the seating plan for the dinner, and wants to arrange people to listen in on conversations at the tables, particularly the Japanese and Italian guests.

Si goes into town to meet Vay, one of the men he met at the sawmill, at Vay's motel in the hope of getting a job, and is bathed and fitted for a suit in town. He meets Ven, the big Swede he also met in the sawmill, who tells him that Dick Riphagen is recruiting for a Dig, which may have something to do with Vikings.

Si follows a Japanese man he thinks looks suspicious. This man, Kato Danzo, goes into a church and reveals himself to be a right-wing Japanese nationalist, and warns Si to stay away from him and his business, whatever that may be.

Si buys a paper and returns to the barn, where he meets Marek, a farmboy from last night, and Mickey. The farmboy is trying to repair Mickey's tommy gun, but needs a part from town.
He, Si and Mickey climb aboard Marek's motorcycle combination and head into town to the garage.

Outside the Garage, Si meets Mr Riphagen, another of last night's acquaintances, who is acting as a hiring agent, and Si goes to a diner with him, and arranges potential employment for himself and several friends at the Dig, including Iain to transport men and materials.

Chronicler's Assumption: A lot of people meet in the diner for lunch - there aren't many places to go in such a small town. It so happens that the PCs meet up in the diner at lunch time, and are invited back to the bookshop afterward to look at the seating plan.

This puts the PCs together in the back room of the bookshop in the early afternoon. Presumably, by this time, Marek has gone back to the sawmill to fix Mickey's tommy gun.

Story Synopsis

Date: Wednesday, 3rd February 1932
23:20 Hrs

The group got through the fight with Kato Danzo and his henchmen at the Boathouse/Hanger that Iains float plane was stored, having just been repainted.   All the henchmen died, but Danzo escaped in a strange futuristic plane that moved like a boat, but rose out of the water on stilts, then took to the air.   Si peppered the plane with 9mm rounds, left it smoking, but the plane made it out of valley heading west.

In the aftermath of the fight.  Doc was wounded, and Marek is fighting for his life.
Doc drug himself to Marek, clamped off the artery on Mareks neck, then the group rushed him to the small village medical clinic.   Doc doesn't know if he will survive.

Searching the bodies, room keys were found for a cabin near the sawmill, and one at Lake Placid Lodge.  Artemis and Si decided to investigate the rooms and headed to the cabin.  The remainder of the group is at the medical clinic waiting to hear about Marek.

In the cabin Artemis and Si found many items, amongst them a shortwave radio, an alarm clock set for midnight, and a Japanese periodical with one page circled.
