Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

Captain Tylen Rhezzik's freighter and the Republic ship Reliance docked after a short jump by the smaller ship from the Bissian planet to the outer edge of the planet's system. The crew, its prisoners and possible asylum seekers were taken into custody by the Republic naval crewmembers and debriefed.

After consultation with the GAR leadership and Jedi Council, they compensated the Bissian pilot for his efforts, and settled on a contract to transport the darkside artifact, the Jedi, K1T1 and the Bith and Chadra-fan asylum seekers to the Republic Naval Station orbiting Chandrilla. Jedi Master Oppo Rancisis    and his Chiss Padawan were dispatched to receive the artifact, to study it in detail before bringing it to the Jedi Temple.

The clone troopers, and Kalyx were ordered to depart with the Reliance crew for Cato Nemoidia to join in the battle, as per the original orders. The two prisoners were sent with the Reliance to be transferred with other CIS prisoners of war to the battle group's prisoner transport ship in the Nemoidian system.

After several days Shrieking Acklay and its assorted passengers arrived and docked at the Naval Station orbital platform, over the busy planet of Chandrilla in the Core Worlds region.

OOC: You received the location to meet up with the Jedi Master by comm message, and your datapad has access to the station maps, and the comm code for Master Rancissis. You can say your goodbye's to the captain, Kalyx before you left, or anything you might want to the two asylum seekers. Its up to you if you want to add that dialogue.

Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

Den gives a half-hearted farewell to the captain, Kalyx, and the soldiers. The death of Jini is a heavy weight on the padawan's shoulders as they are slumped, as they had been for virtually the entire trip. He wishes the asylum seekers good luck as well, giving them a sad smile before he exits with the others.

Knowing that a new mission is ahead for the padawans, he looks to the others. "How are you holding up?" He asks, his eyes more or less transfixed at a point in front of his feet.

Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

Raana has spent her days trying not to think about the death of her master, still so real for her even if it had been more than a week since he fell. Since the general had kept her unconscious, presumably to keep her from using her Jedi powers, such as they are, to escape, she hasn't had time to mourn him properly. With the other Padawans in a similar shape, she finds comfort in talking. She tells them stories of the Ithorian Jedi Master Lum Edom, and some of them share stories about their time with Jini.

She tries to remind herself that her master, just like Jini, is now one with the Force, and not gone forever, like she feels when alone in her bunk at night, trying to sleep. To keep herself busy she tries to get the other Padawans to train with her, in meditation, simple uses of the Force, unarmed combat and even lightsaber sparring. This way the journey to Chandrilla doesn't feel as long.

Raana also spends a little time with the two asylum seekers, trying to find out what they want to do now that they are under the protection of the Republic. She is especially interested in finding out about their families, and if it is even possible to help them reunite, in Republic space. After all, they might be at war with the Separatists, but people still travel between planets with little restrictions, unless those planets are strategically important, somehow. Campaigns in space are different. The distances are vast, the planets almost uncountable and there are no fixed lines to cross.

When the ship docks at the orbital station at Chandrilla Raana has already gathered her very meager belongings, all of which she can keep in her pouches of her belt, or hanging from it. As the Padawans assemble, Den asks them how they are holding up. "We need to move on. What happened to my master and to Jini was terrible, but we are at war. People die. We need to take comfort in the fact that they have rejoined the Force and make sure their sacrifices weren't for nothing," she says, putting on a brave face. To her it feels almost like she's parroting something some Jedi Master might have said to her at some point in her life, not like something she's feeling at the moment, but putting on a brave face is the first step.

Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

K1 spent most of the time on their way to the Naval Station quietly, speaking only when asked something directly or otherwise when someone needed information about the mission that they'd just undertaken. She spent time with the Republic Naval crew as they questioned her about what had happened on the planet, and took a recording of what she'd experienced there, from the moment that they'd touched down on the planet to their final departure. The 3P0 model had spoken matter-of-factly about the death of the Jedi, recounting the details of Master Relllri's courage and sacrifice in a fashion that was completely devoid of the emotion that the others had shown.

The Droid simply watched the others on the trip to Chandrilla, seeing how they expressed themselves in various ways with regards to the loss of their Master. She'd heard DeFenn mention that Rellri was one with the Force now - an idea that had been difficult to comprehend logically. K1 had never witnessed such a thing before and found the matter a bit outside of the rational world she was used to experiencing. She didn't discount the possibility - she just hadn't seen anything like that before.

She followed the others at her own pace, not wishing to disturb the young Padawans (a thought occurred in her mind - were the young proto-Jedi no longer Padawans now, with the experience they had gained? Such an ordeal might have permitted them to progress to whatever was the next level and it such an experience might permit them to acquire skills that would serve them in their progression as Jedi.)

Another thought also occurred to the Protocol Droid - with the passing of their Teacher, was she still needed? K1. She had been assigned to the Jedi Master with the instructions that she would be a learning tool as well as an information store for the young Jedi. With the loss of Master Rellri, there was the question if her services were still needed, or if she might be assigned somewhere else ... Something that would have to be addressed when (or if) a new teacher came to them.

Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

Since the death of Jini Relliri, the miraluka had been quite withdrawn.  If the others didn't know better from feeling his scream of pain through the Force, it would be likely to think that he simply lacked the emotions expected from normal emotional connections with others.  However, as the days passed, it became readily apparent that there was something wrong with Tarrin.  The Padawan tended to miss meals with the others, and if he did make an appearance, he barely ate.  When he did, it was in a manner so robotic, his motions were reminiscent of K1.  He made an effort to comfort the prisoners who had followed his advice to help them because he felt responsible for their fates, but most of his time was spent alone in his room.

There was something comforting about the dark corner of his room.  He frequently rested his back against the wall there and kept the hood of his vest down over his head to block out what little light was around.  The darkness was warm and enveloping, like the embrace of a comforting blanket.  It allowed him to block out the world--at least in a tactile sense.  Closing eye sockets did not make a difference to his Force Sight.  If death like this was what was expected of them during the War, then Tarrin could understand why there was a rather large faction of the Jedi Order opposed to the participation of Jedi in this conflict.  The feeling of pain and loss of a person close to oneself cut down before their time was bad enough, but the guilt of being the one they sacrificed themselves for was too much.  What he wouldn't have given to rewind time.  To have been able to pull back the Jedi Knight and Charlie.  How much power was necessary to be able to defend everyone?  And just how far was he willing to go to obtain something like that?

After saying his lackluster farewells to Kalyx and the others that were leaving on their own mission, the miraluka kept that same demeanor as he accepted the next task alongside Den and Raana.  His thoughts were not on the mission at all, still in his quiet, contemplative state.  The Twi'lek's words rang rather hollow in his ears.  That was something that a Jedi Master would say to be sure, but did that not devalue Jini's life in being so callous as to say that "we are at war and people die?"  A mixture of anger and sadness welled up in Tarrin's stomach, and after holding it for a few moments, he let it dissipate.  If he was who he was before the events previously, he would not have even held it at all.  Holding the emotions however briefly he did felt...good.  Like they gave some value to the life of their friend.  That she was important enough to have touched them this way.

As his synth-leather booted feet echoed down the metal hallway along with the other two Padawan, it was becoming increasingly apparent that something about the miraluka had changed.  Gone was the forthright, bon viviant attitude that had served them so well in the battle against the Separatists earlier.  It was replaced by a sense of thoughtfulness and quiet contemplation.  Constant analysis.  Tarrin had changed in a rather drastic sense.

Den nods solemnly. "I suppose you are right, Raana. However, it's easier said than done." He replies, continuing to walk with the others to the briefing with another Jedi Master.

The desire to sit in the archives and not have to suffer this kind of loss again strikes the young padawan. He does his best to stifle these feelings. Is it worth all this pain and grief? How is this helping? he thinks as he absently chews on his thumb.

Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

The Jedi group and their slicer droid companion strolled down the main corridor from one of the numerous docking rings aboard the Naval Orbital platform, as they contemplated the recent tragic events that lead them back to the Galactic Core region. It was a lesson that couldn't be learned in a classroom on the real cost of war for those involved.

They weren't schedule to meet with the Jedi Master until later that evening, which was a surprise to find the Jedi Council member slithering toward them on his snake-like lower body. Master Oppo Rancisis had the lower body of a serpent, and the torso of a humanoid. He had a long, flowing, white beard and hair. His hair obscured most of his face with barely any room for his eyes and mouth. The hair atop his head was tied into a odd sort of bun shaped like a flat Tarnesian onion to keep it from totally obscuring his face.

He raised a long, ocre tinted hand with long, sharp fingernails in a gesture to halt their movements. His other hand was holding a large metallic, gray box with an electronic panel and indicators on it.

"Please hold a moment, padawans." His small eyes flicked over to the dark metallic droid. "Pardon me, that includes you K1T1."

"I apologize for not contacting you sooner, but I sent my Padawan to contact the Jedi Council regarding my findings. Since you have arrived, I was meditating and felt the presence of dark side influence that is, thankfully, sitting mostly dormant. But after more study through the force, I was able to discern that it is not without power. It has some latent energy that isn't being used yet and slowly building in strength, which is of grave concern to me. It could also be affecting your emotions to some very small degree at this point. I have brought with me from Coruscant, this secure container... ".
He displayed the large box as he continued. ." "This contains a, sort of dampening field for Sith objects that have proven effective for many of the artifacts in our possession. I would like to get this object secured as soon as possible. I can follow the dark side aura, but it might be much faster if you escort me to where you have it stored."

Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

The padawan would have walked right into the jedi master had he not said anything. Den looks up from the ground and at the Thisspiasian in front of him. "Oh, pardon us, Master Rancisis." He says with a slight nod of his head. He listens to the jedi master and then nods in response. "We felt it best that K1 handle the object. We could feel the dark side in the relic trying to corrupt us. We kept it locked away in a bay on the ship." Den replies. "I guess we can go back to the ship to show you." He says, turning to point in the direction of the docks.

He continues speaking once they start walking. "I am curious of it. A part of me wishes to research where it came from. Do you think the archives would have this information?"

Master Oppo attempted to curve slightly less from side to side on his long lower body to give room for Den to walk by his side. "Doubtful, we didn't know of this location as a possible site and there was no record of it in the archives. But, perhaps a more detailed description could reveal if it was created elsewhere and taken from another site that was known. I will make a thorough holo-scan of the item and bring it back to the Temple and compare it to other recorded artifacts."

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

If Raana is surprised to see Master Rancisis slithering towards them, she hides it well. She smiles at the master, bowing a little as he stops. She lets Den answer the Master’s questions. “Handing that thing over will be a relief,” she confesses to Rancisis as they head back to fetch the artifact.

Unlike Den, Raana has given the nature of the artifact little thought since Jini and the others freed her. To her, the thing is evil and has been used to do horrible things and she would be happy if the Jedi Council decided to destroy it. But it isn’t for her to suggest such a thing.

Trying to change the subject, she uses the lull in conversation between Den and Master Rancisis to ask a question. “Master, do you know where we will be sent next? Are we going back to Coruscant?” That would, in her mind, be the most logical course of action. All of them are without a master, and even if the Jedi Order is stretched fighting a war it never wanted, surely they will want the Padawans to continue their training under the tutelage of a Jedi Master.

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

The Protocol Droid stopped as the Jedi Master indicated that she was a part of the gathered group of Padawans. It had been expected that K1 would have been returned to the Jedi Order to be debriefed and then returned to duty for the next Jedi who required her services. But apparently, this was not to be the case.

Her handling of the artefact had been the logical decision - her mechanical brain was not susceptible to the same ... impulses ... as the organic members of the group. K1 had secured the artefact into a small compartment that had been built into the Droid's lower abdominal cavity, where it had remained until they'd returned back to some semblance of civilization and had found a proper authority figure in which to surrender the artefact to. The Jedi Master who'd approached them and produced the secure container appeared to be just such an authority figure.

"Pardon me, Master Jedi." the feminine tones of her vocoder rose from behind the other Padawans. The tones were a slight contrast to the single red-hued ocular sensor that was placed in the same area where other Protocol Droids had been given a pair of sensors to make them appear more 'organic'. "But are we to surrender the artefact to you, then? I had assumed our directive was to return to Coruscant to place the object in safe-keeping. Has that directive been changed?"

The Jedi Master's eyes were impossible to see from the side as his long, white face hair obscured them. Despite not seeing his eyes, the Togruta could tell he was glancing in her direction. "Yes. We will all head to Coruscant together. You will meet with your assigned Masters soon and another Jedi handler will accompany you until you reach them.  After we arrive at Coruscant, we will find out where they are currently assigned or being sent and arrange from there."

The snake-light Force user turned to face Raana where she could see his eyes, knowing she was currently unattached and was likely curious who would train her. "The Council are discussing who will be your master and we should have an answer by the time we arrive on Coruscant."

The group entered the hangar as K1 approached Master Oppo.

"Yes, I have been directed by Master Mace Windu to take control of the Sith device, using this container it should keep it controlled or at least dampened. I will.."

The Jedi Master stopped and his head swiveled back and forth, pulling a lightsaber from his belt clip. "I sense something is very wrong.."

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

The group entered the Chandrillan Orbital Platforms auxiliary hangar bay where Captain Tylen's ship was docked close to the left bulkhead, just beyond the wide bay turbo lift used to move up smaller spacecraft or heavy equipment to the hangar from the storage area below. The turbo lift was down, which left a big rectangular pit in the floor. There was only one other ship there, and it was an older class Tri-wing shuttle. It was also a civilian craft and was parked along the right side of the hangar and closer to the main station entrance. The back wall was entirely open to space, obscured partially with a shimmering blue light from the magnetic shields holding the atmosphere in place.

The Jedi contingent moved under the gangway, which was several meters above them. It ran across the hangar, which accessed the control room for the bay. Several clone troopers in full armor were standing guard around the shuttle, and another group of them in front of the freighter that brought them here.
[Private to Raana De'Fenn: ** Raana noticed that there was an officer with both groups of clone troopers, which seemed odd for guard duty in a hangar bay. But the Togruta just figured it to be some kind of training exercise, the clones were fanatic about their preparedness, after all. **]
[Private to Den Jaxon:    ** Den noticed that there weren't any maintenance crews, sentients or droids, working on the ships. Although they could just be on a meal break or something, so he didn't think much about it. **]
[Private to Tarrin Feruwi:  ** Tarrin noticed there were clone troopers here in the hangar around both ships, which seemed strange to him because when they arrived he remembered there was Chandrillan station security guarding this area, not clones or military. Tylen had mentioned before they landed this was an auxiliary hangar bay used for civilian contractors and guests. He also felt some tension in the Force from the clone's as the Jedi entered the hangar and their posture changed subtly to more alert, as both group's carefully shifted to face the incoming crew members. **]

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

Despite not having participated in the conversation due to his strange, more reserved demeanor, Tarrin had been listening to what the Jedi Master had been saying.  So, when Master Rancisis indicated that something was wrong, the Miraluka extended his senses through the Force to see what he could ascertain.  It was true that his people did not have the gift of sight like other races, but vision through the Force had other benefits.  Not only could he perceive the objects around him like normal vision, but emotional states often times filtered through as well.  Unhooking the lightsaber hilt from his belt, he held it loosely in his right hand as he approached the Jedi Master from the middle of the group.  Though Tarrin did not ignite his lightsaber, he kept his body in a defensive posture, keeping his senses extended to prepare for a conflict that he felt was soon approaching.  [Private to GM: Read - Keeping Up Combat Sense for two upgrades to the first two attacks against him.]  It was better to be ready with a possible defense in this situation--especially since he did not want to risk losing another person again so soon.  He was determined to defend the others with greater vigilance now that Jini was no longer there with them to be dual vanguard with him like they had been.

"Master Rancisis, I believe your feeling is substantiated," the Miraluka began, murmuring softly so that his voice would not carry to the clone troopers nearby.  "When we arrived here, Captain Tylen mentioned that this was an auxiliary hangar for civilian contractors and guests.  This level of military presence is not warranted.  Not to mention, when we arrived here the Chandrillan Station Security was on duty in this place.  Not the Clones or military.  These odd things I could dismiss, but there's one more thing that makes this more concerning."

Pausing for a moment to let the tension he was starting to feel ease out of his body in preparation for what was to come, he continued.  "I can feel their wariness of us.  They are tense and alert as if prepared for some sort of imminent conflict.  And with their posture changes, it is likely that conflict may be with us.  I have not ignited my lightsaber because I do not want it to instigate a physical confrontation, but it would be unwise of us not to be ready for one to occur--though I don't know why we would be their target."

Raana looks at the clones again, and then quickly looks away. "I thought it was strange they'd each have an officer with them. It didn't feel right. You are right, Tarrin, there is something going on here. If we all go in there there will be trouble for sure. Perhaps a little deception is in order to get more intel. I could go to the ship alone and tell them that Master Rancisis asked me to get something from the ship. Something boring, like the communications log or something. Meenwhile, you talk here and look impatient, as if you are waiting for me to return. And you call it in, of course," the Togruta suggests. "We need to know if the pilot is still on board, and if the artifact has been taken, or is in the process of being taken. I don't think we have much time."

K1T1 watched in silence as the Clone troopers went about their duties, most of them guarding the vehicles which had both brought them to the Chandrillan Orbital Platforms, as well as the older shuttle that was parked at one side of the Bay.

She listened to the voices of the young Jedi as they spoke with the Jedi Master, the Master remaining calm while the padawans appeared ... less so. The Clone troopers carried out their duties in a fashion that struck the Protocol Droid as odd; She was programmed to notice the subtle differences and shifts in a person's body language so she could better understand their needs and interpret them to whomever she was tasked to report to. Thankfully, with the single ocular sensor she possessed, it was difficult to tell exactly where she was looking and the Droid used her panoramic vision to watch the Troopers a bit more closely.

They moved with a certain caution, she could see that, but could not reach a satisfactory conclusion about the reason for their change in behaviour. Were they expecting something? Or waiting for something?

The Padawans were also agitated, she realised. She said nothing as they talked, content to just listen and absorb the information while the group worked on ... something. She would afford them their privacy and continued to observe both the group, as well as the larger Hanger Bay they were standing in.

As the group discussed the peculiar circumstances of the auxillary hangar bay, they heard boots moving quickly down the corridor. The sounds were getting very close, and Master Oppo, snatch his lightsaber off his belt, but didn't light it. "The clone troopers seem to be on high alert and expecting some kind of trouble. I'm not sure why they haven't sounded any kind of alarm though. This is very..." The master is cut-off as the boots came to a halt at the door that the Jedi and their droid just came through. They took up firing positions, and lifted their blaster rifles in the direction of the Jedi, or perhaps something on the ship. But the other clone squads also lifted their weapons, training in... on the Jedi!

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

The Jedi Master moved swiftly into action, his elongated tail-body coiling up like a spring as he lifted a yellowish clawed hand toward something on the ground nearby. Suddenly, a large hypospanner flung through the air like it was launched from a missile tube. It let out a resounding clang as it impacted the door controls to the station corridor where they came in. The panel let off sparks and a snaking wisp of smoke as the heavy, station access door slammed shut. This effectively cut off the clone squad out in the hallway, for a little while at least. He lit up his bright blue lightsaber and turned to face the other threats. He yelled out to the others, "Get to your ship, now!"

OOC:  Oppo sent an object flying into the door controls, striking it squarely and closing the door and burning out the controls to keep it from opening with the control panel.

Both clone squads open up with a barrage of blaster fire in the midst of the Jedi group. Most were concentrated on the Jedi Master, and he deflected most of the fire, but one last second deflection directed downward hitting himself, leaving a nasty, deep burn mark across the more sensitive underside of his ochre shaded body where he used those muscles for moving.

Den was on the left side of the Jedi group and was targeted mostly by the squad of clones in front of the Shrieking Acklay. He managed to avoid and deflect the bolts, sending one up above to the catwalk which hit the joint between a support pole and the crossing rail. The metal splintered and rained down on the group.

OOC: The Jedi Master reduced with reflect down to 4 damaged, but triumph resulted in a crit, agonizing wound. Increases difficulty of brawn and agility checks by 1, until end of encounter. Also 4 advantages on attack against Den, causes next two attacks from party to suffer a setback (1S).

When the barrels of the blaster rifles came up and pointed directly at them, there were too many things Tarrin just did not understand.  What was causing their former allies to treat them with such hostility?  What had gone wrong?  But, such thoughts flew from his head once they all came under fire and Master Rancisis suffered a deep burn mark from the blaster fire.  The groan of pain from the Jedi Master caused his mind to flash back to the sounds of pain that he had heard from Jini over the comlink before she had been overwhelmed by Separatist forces.  That same thing he had said he would never allow to happen again seemed to be coming to pass all over again.

The Miraluka grit his teeth so hard they creaked audibly as he ignited his lightsaber, the brilliant blue blade flashing to light as the sparks from Den's deflection showered overhead, scattering over the drawn hood of Tarrin's vest.  There was something stirring within him, and it was most definitely dark in its origin.  The Padawan could feel nothing but blinding, seething rage.

Moving with the speed and single-mindedness of a person possessed, he surged out ahead of the group, batting away blaster bolts with wild-armed swings, showing far less of the Jedi control that he usually did.  Usually, Jedi took care with where the blaster bolts they deflected ended up.  It was obvious to see that Tarrin was past that point.

As he rounded the turbolift, the Miraluka set upon the troopers guarding the Shrieking Acklay.  As his lightsaber prepared to cut a swath through them, he could see them shy away from him and tense, preparing to receive the ends of their lives.  These troopers had fought alongside Jedi--they knew that they had little chance of survival.  Abruptly, he could see Charlie's face before his eyes, and the rage vanished.  He had fought alongside Clones like these.  How could he snuff out their lives just like that?  Swinging his lightsaber so that the blade slipped away from them, he focused it in spinning around him to give the Clones less of an area to shoot.

"What is the meaning of this, Sergeant?!" he exclaimed to the officer nearby.  "Even if we are not in direct command of your unit, you are shooting at superior officers!  And even if you wish to bring a person into custody, you have to at least give a list of charges first instead of directly opening fire according to Republic doctrine!"

He had to at least give these Clones a chance.  For Charlie.

13:32, Today: Tarrin Feruwi rolled no successes, 4 advantages using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 3A 1P 2D 1S with rolls of 6(A), 8(A), 3(A), 6(P), 1(D), 2(D), 2(S).

Two strain to make it to engaged.  Three advantages to gain +1 Ranged Defense.  The last one I'll use to give the next person on our side a Boost since Tarrin has engaged this group and is effectively distracting them.

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

The clone officer with yellow pin striping, who was standing at the ramp of Tylen's ship, fixed his 'T' shaped visor on the Miraluka. He raised his rifle trying to get a shot as he announced with a voice that Tarrin could sense was strained. "Jedi traitors. You have attempted to assassinate the Chancellor. All Jedi are sentenced to death. Comply."

He tried to line up a shot, but the blind Jedi sensed the attack and put one of the clone troopers between them at the last second. The officer pulled his rifle up to avoid friendly fire.

OOC: Complete wash with the Jr. officer. All of those who did not act in Round 1 can take actions

20:46, Today: ChosenOne, for the NPC Clone Offcr SA, rolled no successes using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 2P B 2C S with rolls of 6(P), 5(P), 3(B), 9(C), 3(C), 3(S).  fixed roll, only 2P 1B for positive dice.

Den's lightsaber barely managed to ignite in time to deflect the shots away from him. Fear of being killed by men who he once called friends overtakes the young padawan. In his haste, he reaches out to use that fear to influence a trooper to feel as he does. "Please stop! We did nothing wrong!" He cries out.

Flipping a LS point to use a dark side point. Seeing allies attack him put him in a situation where he wants to convince them that they are not a threat.

07:49, Today: Den Jaxon rolled no successes, 1 dark force point using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 1F with rolls of 2(F).  Influence.

08:30, Today: Den Jaxon rolled 1 success, 1 advantage using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 2A with rolls of 6(A), 2(A).  Discipline.

Imposters. That has to be it, Raana thinks in desperation as the clones open fire. Separatists, posing as clones, trying to retrieve the artifact. It has to be. She runs towards the fake clones guarding the ship with Tarrin and Den, lighting up her lightsaber as she runs.

She is a little confused when the officer shouts something about all Jedi being traitors, mostly because the voice is dead on. These might be some new infiltration droids as they match the voice of the clones perfectly. Thinking about it she hesitates, and cuts her swing short. It’s just too hard to actually attack someone wearing the uniform of a clone who also manages to sound like one, even if the rational part of her brain is screaming at her to cut down what have to be infiltration droids.

OOC: 19:45, Today: Raana De'Fenn rolled 1 failure, 2 advantages using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 3A 1P 2D 1S with rolls of 8(A), 8(A), 1(A), 1(P), 4(D), 2(D), 5(S).  Attack on the officer that spoke.

Well bother. I’ll spend the two advantages to give myself a boost on Raana’s next attack.

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

K1 watched as the scene unfolded, then turned to complete chaos as blaster fire sliced through the Bay. Hearing that the Jedi were responsible for an attack on the Supreme Chancellor, she paused for a moment to regard the Jedi along with the Padawans, while her internal sensors attempted to determine if this was correct. She'd been with the Padawans for their entire previous mission, so the thought that all Jedi were traitors was fundamentally illogical in her mind.

Something has gone wrong, very wrong.

She didn't wait for anyone else to move but began to make her way towards the transport that would take them to Coruscant. She moved as quickly as she possibly could, her metallic footfalls largely lost in the din of weapons fire that cross-crossed the area ...

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

START OF ROUND 2

The Jedi Master yelled out with authority and resolve, "Last chance to lay down your arms." The clone squad in front of the shuttle continued to fire their DC-15A rifles at Oppo, ignoring his demand. Master Rancisis had to protect the padawans and secure the artifact. He was a little saddened, but grimly resigned to do what was needed.

He deflected the bolts with ease and, at the next volley, he leapt twenty meters in the air over everything, landing in the midst of the clone squad that fired at him, between two of the clone soldiers. He cut the first one in half at the waist and continued his strike through him and slashed the second deeply across the midsection. He sprung off of his coiled tail toward the third, with his lightsaber outstretched, impaled that last trooper in the chest. That left only the grey-striped, armored, junior clone officer alone by the shuttle.

OOC: The advantage will be that his incredibly effective attack inspired the next ally with an extra boost die.

09:33, Today: ChosenOne, for the NPC Master Rancisis, rolled 5 successes, 1 advantage, 1 triumph using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 3P 2A D D B with rolls of 3(P), 12(P), 2(P), 8(A), 3(A), 5(D), 1(D), 3(B).  lightsaber attack.

09:30, Today: ChosenOne, for the NPC Master Rancisis, rolled no successes, 3 dark force points, 2 light force points using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 4F with rolls of 1(F), 11(F), 1(F), 2(F).  force leap.

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

If the clone troopers showed any remorse, it was impossible to tell through their T-shaped black visors. They continued to move and try to get a good shot at the three Jedi padawans who were moving and dodging all over the place, weaving in and about the white armored soldiers. One clone eventually managed to get a shot through to hit the Togruta in the side, while she was busy dodging other bolts.

OOC: Raana hit for 12 damage minus soak, unless she can reflect it. 2 threats are a boost to next person attack the clone squad..

14:25, Today: ChosenOne, for the NPC Clone squad SA, rolled 2 successes, 2 threats using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 2P A 3D with rolls of 5(P), 1(P), 7(A), 4(D), 6(D), 8(D).  correction, forgot to add penalty for firing while engaged.

14:18, Today: ChosenOne, for the NPC Clone squad SA, rolled 2 successes, 1 threat using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 2P A 2D with rolls of 10(P), 2(P), 3(A), 4(D), 7(D).  firing at Raana.

Rolled randomly to see who would get attacked, since there was no logical preference for them, had to go to a Tie breaker between Tarrin and Raana.

14:15, Today: Secret Roll: ChosenOne, on behalf of Tarrin Feruwi, rolled no successes, 1 dark force point, 4 light force points using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 3F with rolls of 5(F), 12(F), 11(F).  tie breaker.

14:14, Today: Secret Roll: ChosenOne, on behalf of Raana De'Fenn, rolled no successes, 2 dark force points, 2 light force points using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 3F with rolls of 10(F), 5(F), 5(F).  tie breaker.

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

Having used the other clone trooper as cover in order to prevent the officer from firing at him, the few moments as he moved allowed Tarrin's senses to perceive what was going on in the battle around him.  He could see the anguish on Den's face as the cry for mercy went unheeded, and the blaster bolt that grazed through Raana's skin caused gritted teeth.  His friends were in harm's way, and here he was unable to bring himself to strike back against the ones who were harming them.  Ones who had been friends themselves.  But, the Miraluka knew his heart was too soft, unable to banish the vision of Charlie from his mind when he had to turn his weapon against the Clones.  How could he?  The Clones had been the staunchest allies in the worst of places.  But, in his desperation, he found the answer he sought.  There was only one thing that could cloud one's emotions well enough to steel him for what he needed to do.

Anger.

As the Padawan spun around the clone trooper, he walked slowly toward the officer.  Grasping onto the feeling of the pain his allies were in and the pain of the betrayal he felt, he could feel his lips twisting into a snarl.

"Fine," he stated coldly.  "No more mercy."  His lightsaber flashed in a long, swinging arc to bat away a stray blaster bolt that flew in his direction as he kept walking forward.  "No more quarter."  Bringing the brilliant blue blade of light back up before him, he continued.  "Just remember.  You brought this on yourselves."

With that, Tarrin thrust forward with his lightsaber, piercing through the Sergeant's thigh in a quick stab that was meant to give pain and distract the attention downward before flicking upward the score across the side of the helmet's T-shaped visor to cause the Clone to recoil.  Counting on that, the Miraluka's foot lashed outward to strike in the spot of the thigh he had just injured to cause the Sergeant intentional pain.  The Padawan was no longer trying to fight defensively anymore.  He was trying to inflict as much pain as he could.  Burned scores began to cover the officer's armor as Tarrin's lightsaber kept moving like a fluid snake of light.

"You were our friends," he stated amid the flickering light of the sparks caused by the contact of lightsaber to armor.  "We trusted you with our lives.  We will not make that mistake again."

Raising his voice for the others to hear, he shouted.  "Get to the ship!  I'll try to hold them off the best I can until you get there!"

Raising his lightsaber point toward the injured Sergeant, Tarrin leveled his voice to the Clone once again.  "I suggest you leave before whatever shred of mercy I have left for you is gone.  I am telling you this in recognition for what the Clones and the Jedi have shared up to this point."

Truthfully, the Miraluka was trying to keep the darkness at bay before the emotion managed to overtake him.  Taking out his anger on the Sergeant had felt...good.  And he really wasn't sure what to make of that feeling.

15:48, Tue 11 Sept: Tarrin Feruwi rolled 1 success, 4 advantages using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 3A 1P 1B 2D with rolls of 7(A), 2(A), 8(A), 5(P), 5(B), 3(D), 8(D).

But, we subtract one Difficulty die...

8(D). 8 on difficulty die is 1 failure and 1 threat.

And add a Challenge Die...

10:14, Today: Tarrin Feruwi rolled no successes using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 1C with rolls of 1(C).

So, the final result total is 2 Successes, 5 Advantages.

That is 8 Damage, and 5 Advantages are going toward Critical to become Crit +40.

10:15, Today: Tarrin Feruwi rolled 88 using 1d100+40 with rolls of 48.

Compromised: Increase difficulty of all skill checks by one until the end of the encounter.

I hope you don't mind that I got a little cinematic with it.  I thought it was thematically appropriate.

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

The junior officer at the shuttle ramp, backed away up the ramp and continued firing at the snake-like Jedi, frantically hoping to get through his spinning blade. Shots were deflected every which direction, but it caused the Force user to back away a few steps. One of the deflected shots hit the ramp control to the shuttle. It shorted and sparked, causing the ramp to open part way and then it fizzled out and stopped, leaving it partially raised.

The clone officer by the boxy freighter, tried to minimized the effects of the strikes from Tarrin, but there were too many and he suffered several wounds. He fired several, shaky shots toward the blind Jedi's legs to give himself room. He took advantage of the momentary reprieve and hopped back past the ramp and around the strut of the Shrieking Acklay to put some obstacles in the Jedi's path.

OOC: okay. the Clone officer by the shuttle passed a boost to next clone officer with advantage, and the Triumph is the stuck ramp giving Oppo an upgraded attack next round.

21:02, Today: ChosenOne, for the NPC Clone Officer SH, rolled 1 failure, 1 advantage, 1 triumph using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of P P D D D S ((12(P), 8(P), 3(D), 1(D), 1(D), 3(S))).

The clone officer, after the extra boost I forgot to use, ended up failing to hit, but got 3 advantages. So he will get a +1 melee defense for moving behind the strut, and also used manuever to move out of engaged, so he is now at short range.

21:44, Today: ChosenOne, for the NPC clone officer SA, rolled no successes, 2 advantages using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of B with rolls of 5(B).  added boost from other officer.

21:36, Today: ChosenOne, for the NPC clone office SA, rolled 2 failures, 1 threat using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of P P C C C S S with rolls of 9(P), 2(P), 6(C), 2(C), 9(C), 4(S), 3(S).  firing at Tarrin.

The rest of the group that hasn't gone in Round 2 can take actions. Den you can leave yours or roll again. You didn't add a boost from a result of the clone squad's threat during their attack. So you will need to add that, either way. Also giving a setback to enemies takes 2 advantages.

With Den now in close range with the troopers, he realizes his mistake. He wasn't a fighter, that's for certain--although, he does have a natural affinity to using the lightsaber. He swings at the clones in front of him, hoping to move them away from the entrance of the ship. He finds that the troopers are far too experienced for the young padawan, and is only an inconvenience. However, he manages to tap into the force involuntarily. His wild swing slices through the cover for the clones and creates some cover for the jedi instead.

Ok. Here's the interesting roll.
07:38, Today: Den Jaxon rolled no successes, 1 advantage, 1 triumph using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 1A 2P 2D 1B with rolls of 6(A), 1(P), 12(P), 1(D), 2(D), 2(B).  Lightsaber.

K1 kept moving, not wanting to be struck by any of the bolts that were flying about the Bay. Despite the half-run she was on towards the transport, none of her internal computations could account for the sudden change in the Clone trooper's behaviours. It might have accounted for perhaps one or two, but this appeared to be every trooper on the ship.

She recalled the Jedi who had defeated the pirates that had held her sometime before, and a mental query arose in her processor wondered if he was going through the same thing. If such were the case here, then it seemed logical that the General would be in as likely a predicament ...

"We cannot remain here, Padawans ..." she called in the direction of the others. "We must leave."

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

Raana tries her best to block the incoming fire from the impostors posing as clones, realizing that this is a life-or-death situation for all of them. Master Edom taught her well, and she follows his guidance, blocking first the shots that would hit her for sure and then trying to intercept as many of the shots that might or might not hit as she can. Her ability is stretched to the max and one of the blasts gets through, singing her left shoulder. She grunts as the searing pain hits her, taking her left hand off the hilt of her weapon so as not to let the injury slow down her blade.

Once she gets close enough she attacks the impostors ruthlessly, striking quickly and efficiently. She kicks the legs from under one of the enemy soldiers before moving past him and cutting the head clean off the shoulders of another one. She then quickly reverses her grip on the lightsaber and, without looking behind her, impales the fallen soldier behind her as he attempts to get up to his feet.

The third soldier wearing the a clone armor attempts to bring his rifle to bear, but Raana strikes at him from the side. His reflexes are better than she expected and only the tip of her lightsaber strikes at the soldier's head. The blade sheers through the helmet and into the face of the clone, the cut reviling for the first time that those are no impostors. The clone grits his teeth against the pain and Raana can see his mouth moving through his ruined helmet, saying "Must kill the Jedi," over and over again.

Shocked that the two people she just cut down are indeed clone soldiers, and not infiltration droids as she assumed, Raana takes a step back, a look of shock on her face. "Why are you doing this?" she manages to blurt out. "You are betraying the Republic and the Jedi order!"

OOC: Raana takes a maneuver to aim and then strikes at the group of minion soldiers guarding our ship.

19:12, Today: Raana De'Fenn rolled 1 success, 2 advantages using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 3A 1P 1B 2D with rolls of 5(A), 5(A), 6(A), 2(P), 5(B), 4(D), 7(D).  Attacking clone troopers, boost for aiming.

The attack does 7 damage with Breach 1, which should put down one clone and wound another. I'll use one advantage to activate a critical hit, downing another clone. The last advantage will be spent on noticing a pertinent detail, namely that those are indeed clones we are fighting, which Raana has so far refused to belief.

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

This is what it has come to, he thought. The horror of what he had just witnessed still fresh in his mind. He could not believe it was only moments ago that he was loyal, if rather disgruntled, member of the GAR. This had been years in the making and, if he was truthful with himself, should have seen something like this coming. But the depth of it when it was finally exposed was beyond his wildest nightmares.

A Jedi Padawan, a mere child, gunned down by his own men by Palpatines decree. He was sure that Order 66 would forever be noted in infamy. And his part. His failure. That his men responded to it almost without thinking. To be fair, two of them hesitated, the other two turned on the young Jedi quickly. All while he sat there stunned that such an order would come at all. Before he could say anything, the lifeless corpse of the Padawan lay smoking in blaster hits. For the first time he wondered just how much control he had over his men...his clones.

This had been a long time coming, he thought, the charade of security for the Republic played so masterfully by the most important of players. All crashing down in exposing its agenda. Keilbrun had known and worked with too many Jedi to know that such an order was born out of malice. Palpatine's concern and paranoia for old traditions and organizations seemed to grow by the day. Even he had been a victim to it, having been pushed into the greater Army after initially being accepted to and working in the Senate Guard. Palpatine's new Red Guard taking over many of their duties, the remainder left ignored.

But he would have to wait to truly ruminate on each and every step that brought him here. For now, there was still an alert. There were other Jedi on station and they were being encircled, their elimination of utmost importance. "Bren and Five, check status on Sector 2. Mack and Zeke, check status on 3. Meet back as soon as those are secure," he said, his voice filled with authority he now seemed to question. "We don't want any of them to escape." He did not have it in him to kill his own men, despite what they had done. Further, he was not sure he would have succeeded without being killed himself. He had a new goal. To assist the remaining Jedi on station to escape.

With quick nods, they were off, and so was he. Taking in the calls on comms, it was clear where at least some of the Jedi were, as he started locking down what he could of the system to slow down their pursuers. It sounded like there was already a pitched battle in the hangar, but the Jedi seemed to be holding their own, for now. It would not last long. Command overrides were being brought up and each layer of difficulty he added was going to be taken down before too long.

Secure the hangar for escape, but without the tractor beams being shut down, their escape would be short lived, indeed. Realizing that he had pretty much done what he could from here, it was time to put up or shut up. His life was about to be forfeit if he took this final step. With a heavy breath he stepped onto the cargo lift...

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

The several shots that the Clone Officer took toward the Miraluka's legs were batted away with the ease of a person swinging an umbrella while taking a casual stroll.  The blaster bolts did not even serve to break the Padawan's slow stride as he walked around the strut of the Shrieking Acklay.  With one gesture of his left hand, whatever obstacles were strewn after the strut were sent skittering across the floor of the dock by a short gust of the Force.

"You have chosen the path without mercy then," Tarrin intoned as he approached the Clone Officer with lightsaber held at an angle at his side.  "So be it."

The clone raised his Republic issue blaster rifle shakily in his hands only for the weapon to be deftly cleaved in two, the brilliant blue blade of the lightsaber leaving molten metal passing in its wake as it left the offending weapon irreparably useless.  The front piece of the blaster rifle clattered to the floor at the same time as the Miraluka's foot lashed out to strike the Clone Officer in the center of the chest to send him sprawling on his back.  Planting his synth-leather-booted foot against the clone's abdomen to prevent him from struggling, he raised his lightsaber over his head with the blade pointed downward and slowly scored the point through the clone's chest.

It was not a quick death.  The superheated plasma moved downward slowly, causing the Clone Officer's screams of pain to echo as the Padawan took pleasure in the revenge taken after the mercy he had tried to give was so casually tossed aside by the receiver.  Finally, the blade came out the other side and the Officer expired.  Withdrawing the blue blade, he held it next to him as he crouched to rummage through the clone's belt for belongings.  Withdrawing a datapad, he inspected the contents with a cursory glance.

The document was addressed to the senior officer staff.  This particular clone did not have the appearance of an officer of that high a level, so it may have been given as a way to review senior orders.  But, its contents were far more important.  Deployment orders for something referred to as Order 66.  While Tarrin did not have the time to review the contents of the order in detail, what he did know was that the datapad had deployment routes which meant that once they escaped on the Shrieking Acklay they would be able to avoid further clone trooper activity.

Straightening himself from his crouched position, the Miraluka made his way back around the strut of the ship in order to get inside.  They needed to leave before things got much worse.  He remembered from their previous operation that clones rarely came without backup.  It was quite possible that this may only be a stalling tactic.  They needed to get out of here.

"We may have more company soon!" he called out to the others.  "Get to the ship!"

16:00, Wed 19 Sept: Tarrin Feruwi rolled 1 success, 4 advantages, 1 triumph using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 3A 1P 1B 1D 1C with rolls of 8(A), 6(A), 8(A), 12(P), 4(B), 4(D), 8(C).

7 Damage.  All four successes to Sunder which should take the blaster rifle straight to destroyed (I figured it would be a cool cinematic effect given the context of what is going on with him right now).  The Triumph is used to do something vital to the scene, which is the datapad with the deployment orders for Order 66 in order for them to avoid running into more clones once they manage to get to the ship to escape.

The white clad clone officer steadied his rifle at the incoming Snake-like Jedi and began firing shots in quick succession. One of the glowing blue energy bolts grazed the Jedi Master's shoulder as he dove over the half raised ramp to the shuttle. As he rolled onto to his coiled tail, he deflected a follow up shot back at the officer, just missing him. That caused the clone to step back and stop firing, permitting Oppo to close the distance to his attacker.

OOC: 2 threats will give Master Oppo and extra maneuver to move back to engaged range. He used Reflect 2 to reduce the damage to 5, and then his soak reduces it to 1 wound.

20:30, Today: ChosenOne, for the NPC Jr. Clone Officer - SH, rolled 2 successes, 2 threats using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 2P 1D 2S ((1(P), 5(P), 5(D), 2(S), 6(S))).

Next up 1 PC slot before the last clone trooper gets to go..

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

The clone trooper snarls at Raana and lifts his blaster rifle. Instinctively, the Togruta swings her lightsaber, cutting through the weapon with ease. She pulls her weapon back, unwilling to kill the clone. He looks around, possibly trying to see if there is a weapon he can use, and she uses the opportunity to give his damaged helmet a kick, causing it to tumble off his head. He looks at her with a surprized look on his face, and fails to notice that she hasn't stopped moving, swinging her hips and kicking him in the face with a spinning kick. The clone goes down and stays down.

Raana recovers quickly and looks around. Tarrin has taken down the officer and is getting up from presumably checking the clone's vitals. "Where are the controls for the hangar? We need to open the shields and get out of here before reinforcements come. And what in the name of the Force is happening here?" Raana shouts to the others.

OOC: Raana used a maneuver to aim and then an action to strike at the clone. The attack hit with 3 successes and 3 advantages, doing 9 damage, breach 1, and taking down the last of the clones in that minion group. She'll use the three advantages to recover strain.

07:58, Today: Raana De'Fenn rolled 3 successes, 3 advantages using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 3A 1P 1B 2D with rolls of 5(A), 4(A), 7(A), 8(P), 5(B), 5(D), 8(D).  Attacking remaining clone trooper, boost for aiming.

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

The Jedi Master continued his momentum after rolling into the shuttle compartment and whipped his tail around knocking the clone officer's booted feet from under him down to the ground and causing him to drop his rifle. But it was too late, Rancisis was on top of him and drove his lightsaber through his armored side and pierced the cloned human's heart. He slithered back out of the shuttle ramp, and checked on the padawans.

Raana questioned the last living clone soldier, but the clone couldn't keep his eyes open and just kept grunting and chanting gibberish, 'Jedi.. 66.. republic.. order.. enemy..'. Then she heard as the blaster fire went silent that the turbolift platform next to them was rising up from the shaft.

The Jedi Council member saw the turbolift platform rise up next to the Padawan's vessel that brought them to the station. He saw the top of the Republic soldiers head crest the edge of the shaft and he leapt high into the air landing on the platform before it was all the way up. His snake-like body landed with a resounding thud, in a coiled crouch. He grunted out in a menacing voice over the loud hum of his turquoise energy blade that was pointed at the soldier's chest, "Surrender now!"

13:03, Today: ChosenOne, for the NPC Master Rancisis, rolled 3 successes, 2 advantages using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 3P 2A 2D B S ((1(P), 4(P), 2(P), 5(A), 5(A), 1(D), 5(D), 6(B), 2(S))).

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

Den slowly lowers his blade after the battle with the clones. He is still confused at why these clones--the very same clones that sacrificed their very lives to save the padawans--would strike in such a fashion. Could this be a rogue faction in the ranks? Are the clones starting a revolution for their freedom? Could it be the artifact that is causing this? The pull of the dark side from it was powerful. It might taint the minds of those with weaker wills.

His blade hisses as it deactivates, and he looks around at the dead clones and fellow padawans around him. "I think...I think we need to leave." He says, his legs quaking a bit from the pumping adrenaline. When the jedi master pounced on the soldier, Den raises his blade and activates it again, cautiously approaching Rancisis to assist.

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

With the opening of the floor doors above him, he could hear the sounds of combat dwindling, the hum of lightsabers and blaster fire diminishing. He worried he might be too late for the briefest of moments when he suddenly had a large alien Jedi pointing its lightsaber at his chest. Clearly the Jedi had come out victorious...at least for the moment. The evidence became clear as the turboshaft settled onto the deck.

He let his blaster carbine hang from its sling as he put his hands outstretched. "I'm here to help," he offered, standing strong yet the tension in his body was clear. He knew his life rested on the edge of a knife as he even raised his chin, slightly, as if to offer his throat.

"You...We don't have much time before they will find another way in. I can help with the shields, but the tractor beams will have to be taken down. I don't have the skill to deal with them other than physically destroying them. I don't have override codes for those," he said, his voice remaining calm even if there was noticeable tension in it.

By the look and demeanor of the soldier, Den knew he was no clone. He lowered and deactivated his weapon upon confirmation that the newcomer is not out to kill the jedi on first sight. Hearing about the tractor beam, his gaze moves to the floor of the hangar bay. "Tractor beam? Oh kriff. We're never getting out of here."

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

The Jedi Master held his blade there for a few moments as he heard the words of the soldier. He came alone, that gave credence to his testimony. But, he reached in with the Force and probed the human, or perhaps near-human's mind.

"I sense no deception in this one." Oppo followed suit with Den and deactivated his blade. "Where exactly is the mechanism for the tractor beam located? There is another Jedi Knight on station in the Medical Center and I need to find him, but I can take out the tractor beam generator first. I have felt the death of my padawan earlier, he is with the Force now. The rest of you get on your ship and go."

Just after the Snake-like Jedi finished speaking, more clone squads entered into the control room from the turbolift on the second level of the hangar. The glass around it was blaster proof, so they headed toward the exit doors to the catwalk in order to engage the Jedi.

OOC: You have 2 rounds before they attack, but you will be safe on the ship, assuming you get the shields up.

[Private to Keilbrun (Kyle) Osh: The is a dataport access terminal at a diagnostic machine just a few feet away from the turbolift platform you came in on. You can override the shields from there with your code. it will cause the blue shimmer to go away, but the magnetic shield keeping the atmosphere in will still be in place.]

For his part, Keilbrun did not look the part of a clone trooper. The solid blue version of the classic GAR laminate armor was contrasted by having a partially open face helmet fully displaying that he had no resemblance to the clones he had once commanded or that had turned on their former Jedi comrades. Still, he could understand their concern at his appearance as they had no idea just how far or how deep this betrayal was. He shivered at the possibilities. If they were willing to kill a 13 year old Padawan...

"I've heard nothing about another Jedi, but I witnessed the death of your Padawan," he said, his voice tight.

He took a breath at before responding to the Jedi Master. "The generator is basically there," he said pointing up and to the right in the bulkhead of the hangar, careful not to make a move for his carbine. "But there is no direct route. If you take the lift up, you will have to take a left out of the main ring corridor, then another left. If you have a slicer, there is a data port on the turbolift. If they're good, they might be able to bypass the code requirments," he said as he stepped aside and showed the terminal.

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

Raana, still in shock over having killed two clone troopers and wounded another, is relieved that the blue-armored man isn’t a clone. “Do you have any idea what happened? Why the clones think the Jedi are traitors?”

When Master Rancisis offers to go shut off the tractor beam, the young togruta takes a step closer to him. “Master, I would like to go with you. The others can prepare the ship for departure. If they can get the shields up the clones will need to get some very heavy guns out here if they want to get through.”

She looks at the others, her gaze settling on K1, before moving to the blue-armored man. “I wish we had an astromech or a trained slicer, but we don’t.” She looks at K1 again, before offering an optimistic “unless you’ve been trained in that, K1?”

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

"Maybe the datapad I found will shed some light on that," Tarrin interjected as he approached.  His lightsaber had since been replaced where it had been before the skirmish had occurred: hanging from his belt.  "One of the officers I fought had this datapad on it that seemed to have detailed tactical plans for several Clone contingents as well as a mention of something called 'Order 66,' though I have not had time to read all of it completely.  Perhaps the codes we are looking for may be found in this data."

Glancing from one Padawan to the next, the Miraluka's eyeless sight rested on Master Rancisis.  Here it was.  Happening again.  Another Jedi of higher rank about to sacrifice himself once again while he could do nothing to aid him.  Was he about to see a repeat of Knight Relliri again so soon?  He could acutely feel the lives of people important to him slipping away like grains of sand through his fingers.  Just how much strength would be necessary for this not to happen?  He knew that relying on the power he had touched was not a way for regular usage, but what other choice did he have?

All of this bore further thought.  But right now they were out of time.  It was a luxury they could no longer afford.

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

Master Rancisis was breathing hard, his small beady eyes were reddened on the edges. "This is no local problem. I have been sensing the deaths of hundreds of Jedi, from all over. I will buy us some more time."

He turned and stared into the clear transpari-steel windows of the control room, which showed several squads of clone troopers amassing. A local security figure was trying to unlock the side door to the catwalk overlooking the hangar. He reached out with his long, taloned fingers and the padawans could feel a tremendous build up in the Force as the catwalk vibrated and began to tear apart from the frame and then yanked free and crashed down below in the hangar area.

He turned back to face the padawans. "I am sorry, young Togruta, but you cannot follow. I will be striking quick and going in search of Jedi Hoak." His small eyes darted back to the blind padawan. "Miraluka. I know this is toughest on you, and I sense your worry. You must control your anger and fear or you will become a tool of all that we fight against. If we become one with the Force, it is all of our eventual destinies and one of peace. There is no death, there is the Force."

He gave an odd smile and wink, and Tarrin and the others could sense a calm, peaceful determination in the senior Jedi Master. "But, I don't plan on going down that easily. I will rendezvous with you all. I have a set of coordinates I was investigating before the war started, a hidden place. Go there and I will find you. It is in the Outer Rim. You will need to plot a course to -3295,4606 mark 9.5 from the planet Karun IV."

After that he leapt up to the tip of the raised shuttle's wing and landed there, then jumped up to one of the reinforced ribs at the ceiling of the room on the opposite wall from their ship. He clung to the rib, and shoved his blue blade into the ceiling and began to cut a circle pattern just above him.

OOC: The catwalk is now down, so the door opens to a one story drop if they exit, so the clones will have to figure a way to repel down, but that could take a couple of minutes. Meanwhile, you can search the datapad and/or slice the dataport or both. It will be against the security to access the dataport. So it will be 2D 1C, but you can make one upgrade to the computer check because of the codes that Kyle is giving you. To get information off of the datapad with the shield codes, it is against 2D computer check to search for it.

Keilbrun shook his head at the Togruta female. "As a leader of clone troopers, I received a command that was clearly meant for them. It was a Clone Protocol. I'd seen them come through before. Most were innocuous. This one...The Jedi are traitors to be killed on sight...I could hardly believe it. I thought there was some kind of mistake when I turned to see my men gun down a child," he said, his voice still tight.

"Keep it," he said to the Miraluka. "There may be information on it we can use, but I doubt it would have the codes or override to shut off the tractor beams. There is a terminal here, but you could use that to link up with the system instead. I have some access codes for the shields, at least."

"I can only assume that you're not safe anywhere in Republic space," he offered toward solidifying the Jedi Master's assertion. "The clones operated almost as if controlled, but I can only assume the command went to everyone." Impressed as he was watching the Jedi Master tear down the catwalk, it would only buy them a few moments.

He turned to the terminal and worked in the codes for the shields. It was one more cog in the machine of their escape. It would come to the destruction of the tractor beams if they really had a chance of escaping. "Gather some of their kit," he said, glancing at the bodies of the clones on the deck. "We don't know what might be useful if we get out of here."

He knew, if nothing else, that stuff could be sold or traded on the black market. A spare blaster could be the difference between getting past a checkpoint or not.

Den almost reels at the thought of being considered a traitor, to be hunted down and killed like an animal. He's heard of these "clone protocols" before, but never actually seen one enacted. To have one be sent out to kill jedi, ones who were loyal to the Republic, is beyond him. He has to lean against a stock of crates for support.

"Who would give such an order? Why would that even be programmed?" He asks, knowing that those around him are in the dark as much as he is. He closes his eyes and tries to center himself. His doubts and fears would need to be in check. Questioning the situation will only cause unnecessary delays. This was the hand they were dealt, and now they have to deal with it. "Are we certain that sending you alone is the best course of action, master? What if...?" He watches the master jump away, not having time to discuss their  decisions and frowns. Perhaps action is the best course of action.

K1 clanked across the polished deck to the turbolift platform console's dataport connector. One of her digits opened and another connector spooled out and connected. The droid's servos buzzed as her head and optical unit spun toward the blue armored soldier. "I shall endeavor to override the shields, and try and gain access to higher functions. Your codes, please."

[[ after receiving those, she continued to work ]]

The dataport connector rotated back and forth as she engaged the computer system. The blue tinted shields along the hangar exit dissipated leaving just the magnetic field in place. She seemed to work furiously trying to gain access. "I am unable to gain access to the command subroutines, but the defensive shield is down. I took the liberty of planting a false alert of hostile ships approaching the opposite side of the station. This will give us a higher probability to allow us time to escape."

OOC: Failed with an advantage. Will use advantage to create a false alert to divert station security ships.

As K1T1 was disengaging from the dataport, the clones fired a grappling line across from the control room door to the left side of the room.  Four clones clipped on and began to repel down the line. After they slid a few meters, there was a loud explosion on the opposite side of the hangar. A bunch of fiery debris rained down through the hole that Rancisis created in the ceiling. The vibration shook the entire hangar and caused the grappling hook to release its hold. The white armored troopers fell down on top of the mangled wreckage of the catwalk.

Keilbrun saw and heard the situation as it developed. The clones would find their way in soon enough. "We're running out of time, they'll be streaming in here shortly," he said, the tension in his voice was noticeable.

He was giving up on everything he had thought he believed in. He might be able to recognize the truth of it later in that, perhaps, what he believed in no longer actually existed, but this was too new. Too fresh. Either way, the fact remained he was about to break his oath of service and it weighed on him. The image of the young Jedi being gunned down gave him the strength to continue at the moment.

He would be a criminal and fighting for his life and the life of these Jedi for the foreseeable and he was trying to get it straight in his head what that would look like. "If any of you can pilot this thing, you need to get it spun up," he suggested. "The rest, stay close to the ramp."

He was a little disgusted by the act of scavenging from the dead, but if they got off this station, they would need every bit of equipment or money they could get their hands on.

The panel is twice as large as the what he's used to, with three times as many buttons and levers. His hands move from one button to the next, but not pushing any of them. His doubts prevent any decisions from being made. "Uh, does someone know how to start this thing?"

Nodding to the Master Jedi, Raana turns off her weapon and clasps it to her belt before running into the ship. Once on board, she recalls that Tyler was headed to the canteena. Since he's nowhere to be seen, she can only conclude that he's still there.

The Togruta makes a beeline for the pilot's station, looks at Den for a moment and then sits down and flicks several buttons to power up the engines. "Get everybody on board," she says to Den. "And tell them to buckle up. We can take off in a minute or so. We don't have time to wait for the engines to warm up, but I'd rather not blow out the thrusters by blasting up before the vents come on line."

She spends the time until the ship is ready for takeoff to familiarize herself with the layout of the buttons and levers she'll need to use. She's watched Tyler do this plenty of time, and this isn't so different from the shuttles she's piloted while her master slept. He never did like piloting, she thinks, a small smile finding its way to her lips despite everything that's happened.

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

Despite the explosion that sent out more wreckage ahead of them, Tarrin's senses were still focused on the Jedi Master.  His words still echoed in the recesses of the Miraluka's mind.  How could he have been so foolish?  On the one hand, desperate times did call for desperate measures.  But, if he ceased to be a Jedi because he walked the path of darkness, what would have been the point of all the sacrifice?  Knight Relliri had passed.  So had Charlie.  Now, it seemed like Master Rancisis may end up joining them regardless of his intentions.  With the increasing amount of Jedi casualties that seemed to be occurring according to the snake-like Jedi, there were probably not many of them left.  All the more reason for him to try to become a more shining example to those who probably needed to look to them for support in what were starting to become dark times.

But, first, they needed to leave.

Letting his thoughts echo into the Force, the Miraluka hoped that the Jedi Master could feel his gratitude this distance away before he wordlessly entered the ship.

"The Trooper is right, we should probably get going," he stated, strapping himself in.  "They will be coming for us before long.  I would rather not be here."  Tapping at the datapad, Tarrin attempted to pull up the diagram of the Clone force's battle plan once again.  "Here, Den.  Do you think you can plug in these coordinates as ones we can avoid when we're starting for our jump?  That way we'll be able to avoid the net of their forces that they will inevitably cast once they realize we are getting away."

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

As soon as she gets confirmation that everyone is on board, Raana revs the engines. She finds the intercom and flicks it on. "Everyone buckle in or hold on to something, this won't be smooth," she says as she grabs the controls.

The layout of the controls causes her some difficulty, but she quickly adjusts and lifts the ship off the hangar floor just as what seems like a whole platoon of clones rush into the hangar. She quickly flicks a pair of switches and pulls a throttle to the maximum setting, switching the deflector shields on. The clones fire on the ship, but it is a futile gesture. As she turns the ship to face the exit, she notices a pair of troopers setting up a heavy cannon on a tripod.

Once the front of the ship is facing the exit, Raana sees the outer doors to the hangar beginning to close. She guns the engines, going against everything she learned about slow and safe takeoffs and maximum velocity in a secure environment. The closest clone troopers are thrown to the ground by the backblast as the freighter accelerates rapidly and powers out of the hangar.

Raana recalls seeing a couple of turbo laser batteries on the side of the station to the right, so she pulls the controls hard just as the ship exits the station, building up speed and trying to use the station itself as cover from as many of the turbolasers as she can. She can see green blasts from the massive gun towers flying uncomfortably close as she gets the ship to a safe distance from the station.

"K1, can you plot a course out of here, we need to jump before they get fighters on our tail or crisp us with those turbolasers!" she shouts at the droid. "I don't care where, just away so that we can think about where to go," she says as she angles the deflector shields to give them maximum protection to the rear of the ship. It won't stop a direct hit from a turbolaser, but it could turn a glancing hit to a miss with a bit of luck.

Keilbrun ran up the ramp with some of the weapons and kit he had scavenged and went to the base of the loading ramp, his carbine at the ready. Hearing the call from the female Togruta, he waited until he was the last one still in the hanger before climbing up the ramp himself. He was taking pot shots at the entrances to the hangar, just trying to slow things down, but he could not cover every way in and there were just too many.

Once inside and with the ramp closing he quickly found a seat somewhere and buckled in, his carbine in front of him and sitting a little awkwardly because his pack was still on. "All in!," he yells over the high pitched whine of the engines, the Togruta seeming to know what she was doing.

He thought about the young Jedi killed by his own men. He thought about the remnants of a fight between these Jedi and the clones they had fought alongside with for so long. He thought about the Jedi that was off to take out the tractor beams to allow them to escape. And he thought about the Jedi they had mentioned that was also still on the station somewhere. How had his life been so thoroughly turned upside down so quickly?

Raana:
"I don't care where, just away so that we can think about where to go,"

K1's optical sensor went off and on a few times almost as if she was blinking. She used her metallic fingers to pull up the navicomputer's small screen. "Very well. I will check the navicomputer. It appears that Tylen set an emergency course before he landed. It would be logical to assume this would be that this would be the best destination for our immediate needs."

She clicked on the keypad quickly to get the coordinates situated and hit the button to submit the heading based on their current vector. The droid intoned, "Hyperspace course locked. Ready to initiate jump to light speed."

Raana found the correct lever to activate the hyperspace jump and pulled it, the hyperdrive spun up, briefly, and then shut back down immediately. Glowing red alert lights went off both at the navicomputer and on the sensor panel.

K1T1's head swiveled back and forth between the transparisteel window and the navicomputer, as if in confusion. She read the warning aloud, "Warning. New objects detected along plotted course. Please alter vector or plot a new course."

K1 stared at the navicomputer, "This computer is inferior!" the droid exclaimed in a miffed tone. She then started pressing buttons on the computer again. "I'm not sure what object it was, that wasn't there a minute ago. I shall plot a new destination, a shorter destination this time."

As K1 was making the calculations, the ship computer called out. "Warning! Missile lock. Missile lock. Missile lock."

The droid's blackened metal digits started flying faster across the keypad, as she uttered, "Oh, my."

She finished her calculations and responded quickly. "Course plotted. Come to heading two, two, six mark five zero, and engage the hyperdrive!"

OOC: 4 advantages can be used, I'll let someone suggest something for the group to use. K1 plotted a course to the nearby system of Ganthel.

[Private to Raana De'Fenn: You can make it to the correct vector without a roll, though as you are avoiding turbolaser blasts they get into firing range and fire concussion missiles just as you pull the lever. Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

The cockpit is a chaos of blinking lights and blaring klaxons as a trio of missiles scream towards the freighter and Raana jerks the ship to the right and then down to avoid turbo laser fire. “Oh, no,” she mutters as she sees not one but two cruisers up ahead, clearly the presence of the ships had prevented the first attempt to jump to hyperspace.

“If you’re going to do this, I suggest you do it now,” she shouts at K1. “I don’t care if this computer is from the first Galactic war, just get us out of here!”

“Impact in ten seconds,” she shouts over the intercom. “Brace for impact everyone!”

And then she hears K1 say the magic words. She changes the heading to the direction indicated with the droid. The display in front of her is counting down the seconds until the missiles impact. It reads '1.9 SECONDS' when Raana pushes the levers to jump to hyperspace. The sudden acceleration pushes everybody into their seats for a moment before the gravity system can compensate. The display has stopped at 0.47 seconds.

Breathing easier for the moment, Raana gets out of the pilot’s chair after checking that all systems appear normal. “That was a little too close,” she says. “Great work, K1. We wouldn’t have made it without you.”

She leans against the bulkhead for a moment. This day is not going the way she thought it would, to put it mildly. She leans over the pilot’s dashboard and activates the internal communications. “We are safely in hyperspace. We should all assemble in the common area.”

The young Togruta walks with the others to the small galley and rec-area. They have a lot to talk about.

Den nods to Raana and follows her into the common room so they can talk. He finds somewhere to sit, glad to have his weight off of his shaky legs. The amount of stress and adrenaline that still is working its way through him makes it difficult for him to calm himself. He attempts to focus himself on what he's learned through training on centering oneself, but real life situations versus in a classroom are two different animals altogether.

Raana De'Fenn:
“Great work, K1. We wouldn’t have made it without you.”

The modified protocol droid's ocular sensor seemed to brighten at the praise. "Why, thank you, Jedi De'Fenn. Despite the pressure, I was able to complete the calculations precisely for the alternate route, and not a fraction of a second too soon it would appear."

The dark shaded droid shifted her gaze looking out of the viewport to the swirling blue vortex of hyperspace travel. "Our current hyperspace jump is very short. We will arrive at the edge of the Ganthel system in approximately 28.26 minutes. I will have more time to program several jumps to get us to the Karun IV system in the Churnis Sector of the Mid-Rim region. After our first jump to Uviuy Exen, we will link up to a couple known hyperspace lanes until we reach our destination."

K1T1 followed Raana and Den to the common area, just outside of the crew quarters on the cargo level of the G9 Rigger class ship.

Keilbrun nodded at the Togruta's assertion. There was, indeed, a lot to discuss and, in many ways, he had never felt more out of his element. He had been in combat before, but never with what felt like so much on the line and now he was an enemy to the Republic he had sworn to protect.

He unclicked the harness he had strapped himself into, glad that they had been able to get away, considering how close a thing it had been. But he also understood that they had lost less than one of their comrades and potentially had lost two others. His own position with them was uncertain and rightly so. He was an unknown quantity to them.

He gathered with the rest of them in the common area, taking a seat to the side. Seen, but able to be ignored or questioned as they saw fit.

Tarrin came down the ladder from the cockpit and joined the others, he sat silently off to the side, on a pull down bench seat near the main round dining table. He turned his covered face toward Raana, but didn't say anything.

There is a round table there with a half round cushioned bench, and a couple of places where you can pull down a plastoid bench that seats two or three people along the bulkhead. A small galley is between several of the pull down benches.

OOC: Okay, let's go ahead and start the conversations so we can move along. To speed things up, just post the questions, without writing up a full post, in OOC. That way others can see it fast and think on their responses while you draft a final post in the story thread. The same with the responses to the responses. Trying to find away to make conversations to not drag on for weeks of real time.

We also have the option of doing Google Hangouts to discuss, but everyone would have to be on around the same time. Since Tarrin is busy dealing with some personal issues, that probably won't work for Hangouts.

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

The young Miraluka had been thinking about the events of the last mission.  Knight Relliri.  Charlie.  So many friends and mentors come and gone.  It was unlikely that they would see Master Rancisis again despite what the Jedi Master had said to them.  They were words of comfort, he knew.  Ways to allow the Padawans to move on with their lives and survive.  He knew because Knight Relliri had said the same kind of thing to them when she had shut off the elevator in order to hold off the Separatists.  Was this what their lives were to be from now on?  Running, hiding to survive another day?

There was much to contemplate.  They needed something to fight against this great Darkness he could feel beginning to take over the galaxy.  But, what options did they really have?  As much as he did not want to admit the wisdom in Master Rancisis's words to him, he knew that fighting Darkness with more Darkness would likely not help their situation.  After all, they were up against something that knew how to wield Darkness better than he did.  Not only that.  If he chose to pull on it, have it answer his call, he knew deep down that he would not come out unstained himself.

And that thought scared him more than he was willing to admit.

Sitting at the table, he simply watched and waited.  Now that their adrenaline from trying to survive was starting to fade, Tarrin could feel the oppression at their situation starting to sink in.  They were alone in the galaxy now.  All they had left was each other.  What would determine how successful they were would depend on how well they could band together in this new, trying time.

Preferring to observe, he watched and waited to see how the others were dealing with the reality of their situation.

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

“What, in the name of the Force, just happened back there?” Raana says, still coming down from the rush of having another near-death experience as they jumped to hyperspace. “Why would the clones attack us? Claiming the Jedi were traitors? It makes no sense,” she mutters.

“We only have twenty minutes or so until we come out of hyperspace. We need to get to the coordinates Master Rancisis mentioned,” she says, thinking. “But we also need to know if this is something that was happening on board the station or if this is more widespread. I think we need to contact the temple. The Council will know what to do.”

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

Keilbrun motioned from where he sat, the expression on his face was...uncomfortable. It was never an envied position to be the bearer of bad news. "That was Order 66. Something straight from Coruscant. The clones? Well, they are more apt to follow orders than any of us. It's like it's instilled in them...part of their makeup," he started. "We all take, or took, our oaths seriously, but they take it to a new level."

He paused to let that sink in, but knew that it was worse than even that and he would have to give them everything he knew. With a heavy sigh, he started again. "Apparently this has been in motion long enough for the clones to stage on Coruscant. One of my superiors had a friend that sat relatively high in the Senate Guard. It was fairly clear that the target was the Jedi Temple," he paused again, chewing his lip a moment.

With a shake of his head he continued. "There really isn't anything else there to attack. Interstingly, it was entirely clones. No human or near-human assets. I can only imagine the body count on both sides. The Jedi are formiddable, but the clones are many and driven."

He leaned forward in his seat and took in each one of them. "I can only imagine that the only Jedi with a real chance of not being killed or captured are nowhere near the core. The further the better. This is as widespread as it gets. I'm guessing you're little group is an anomoly, but even you've taken significant losses and your...our future is uncertain, at best."

"For what it's worth, I'm committing myself to you for at least until you are safe. Whatever that looks like. I'm Sergeant Keilbrun Osh. That rank means nothing now, along with my Oath to the Republic, apparently" he went on, a hint of bitterness in his voice. "You can call me Kyle if you wish. I'm a trained commando and was a junior member of the Senate Guard. I and most of the old guard had been pushed out of Coruscant over the last year or two," he said with clear disillusionment and a resigned expression.

"I don't even know what the Republic has even become in this moment. Palpatine has surely lost his mind..."

Den slumps in his seat, hearing Kyle's explanation on the situation. "The Jedi wiped out by clones? That can't be possible. I mean...there are--were--so many of us. There are bound to be some that aren't on Coruscant or aren't near other clones. We should try and find others who don't know yet."

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

So many Jedi dead already.  And Order 66 had probably claimed more?  What the soldier in their midst was saying had even more staggering implications than the Miraluka expected.  If what had happened to them just now happened on a larger scale considering the clone forces on Coruscant, it was more than likely that even if the Jedi Council had not fallen they were likely crippled.

"Given the amount of clone forces on Coruscant, this Order 66 may have dealt a serious blow to the Jedi Council," Tarrin stated after a few moments to weighing everyone's words.  "As we are right now only a few padawan without a Knight or Master with us, I doubt our efforts will be able to coordinate well with the Council at this point.  Trying to travel to Coruscant may end up courting a certain death.  Our best choice may well be to follow Master Rancisis's words and head to the coordinates he mentioned.  There will be time to send word to the Jedi Council.  However, we should take care in how we send the message.  If the blow has been as grievous of one as I surmise, there is a chance that it may be traced back to us.  And the galaxy does not currently seem like a very safe place to be a Jedi at the moment."

Raana thinks about this for a moment. “I can’t belief the temple has fallen. The masters there will have seen this coming. Master Yoda doesn’t miss something like that. And I don’t care how many clones they have on Coruscant, they couldn’t take on all the Jedi in the temple at any given time,” she says with confidence. “Could they?” she adds, her confidence wavering a little bit.

She looks at her chrono and gets up. “Time to start calculating another jump. I’ll set a course for the coordinates Master Rancisis gave us. Once we are there, we can decide how to play this. We just don’t have enough information to work with here,” she says as she moves to the cockpit to begin her calculations. “K1, would you mind giving me a hand with the calculations?”

"Why, of course, Master Raana. The next jump should minimize our chances for discovery for direct pursuit. I do have some concern about the level of fuel this ship has though. There wasn't enough time for Captain Rhezzick to negotiate his refueling stipend from the Republic. We can make this jump and possibly the next. But you should decide on refueling options soon."

I fear it's influence may try and turn any of us to the dark side."

Keilbrun remained quiet as the Jedi seemed to process the magnitude or even the veracity of his words. It had to shake them to their core, even as he was still coming to grips with his own part in this.

He was unsure of just how much they wanted his help, at this point, the unknown quantity that he was to them. The fact that they had not left him behind was encouraging, as was the fact that they seemed to listened to him. He imagined that if they felt as alone as he did, they would be hoping for every bit of help they could get.

"While I recommend starting with whatever your Master gave you, that should only be a temporary stop. You should keep moving and, ideally, keep any attempts to contact others of your Order to a minimum for some time," he offered. "The Outer Rim is probably your best bet. Places the Republic has less sway. Hutt Space, perhaps..."

Re: Episode 2 - Chapter 1  Return to the Core

Raana nods when K1 and Den bring up the fuel levels. “We are headed to Uviuy Exen. We’ll be able to refuel there, I should think. It’s situated on the Hydian Way so I’m sure there will be multiple starports to select. We should perhaps go for something small and out of the way and try to keep a low profile until we can find out more about what’s going on. And we need to stay clear of any clones,” she says, a tone of sadness in her voice.

The Togruta frowns when Kyle mentions keeping contact to the Order at a minimum. She is a bit concerned about the newcomer. She knows the others and trust them with her life, but Kyle’s agenda and allegiance are still unknown. Raana has learned not to take people at their words when it comes to such things.

“We’ll need to contact the Order as soon as we can, but I agree that we need to keep the line of communication open for a very short time so that the transmission won’t be intercepted. This bucket of bolts isn’t the fastest or the most maneuverable. I’d rather not get in a fight and it’s too slow to run from a good gunship or fighters without a substantial lead,” she says, watching Kyle intently as she speaks. If he tries to stop them from contacting the Order at their destination she’ll know she can’t trust the human.

She returns to the cockpit with K1 in tow and together they start working on the coordinates for the next jump as soon as the ship leaves hyperspace.

“Mistress Raana, the charts of this system indicate that there is a moon in close proximity to Uviuy Exen. My I suggest we jump in close to the moon, letting it shield us from detection from any ships or satellites in orbit?” the droid asks. “It seems like a prudent precaution, given our circumstances.”

Raana nods. “That’s a good idea, K1. We don’t want to jump into the middle of a patrol, especially if we only have enough fuel for one more jump,” she says as they work on the calculations. Since they have the time they check and double check the coordinates before the pilot pulls the lever and the ship jumps again into hyperspace.

He glanced at the young man as he spoke. "Probably not a bad decision. And find ways to carry your lightsabers out of plain sight," he offered.

"May I ask your names?," he asked. It appeared that he would be traveling with them for the foreseeable, he hoped introductions were in order.

"Raana, correct?," he said, looking at the Raana. "Your droid, K1?, gave it away," he went on, a slight inflection, ensuring he caught the droids moniker.

He then turned to the two young men, expectantly.
