Prelude - Initiates of the Order

Bright daylight from a cloudless blue sky streamed across the high gloss circular floor, which was elegantly decorated in muted patterns of flowing curved shapes. The Coruscant skyline below the large floor to ceiling view port of the Jedi Temple was bustling with steady streams of organized airspeeder traffic crisscrossing the duracrete jungle of mountainous buildings that made up a large portion of the city-planet. The scene was a dichotomy of the chaos that is happening all across the vast galactic region, where planets and cities burn from conflicts that have continued to rage unchecked.

The ancient Jedi home seemed empty for the past few months as the mounting casualties have hit the Order hard, as much as anyone in the war. Few Jedi, that aren't part of the Temple's staff or younglings, can be found walking the hallowed halls.

It has been a day since the ceremony was completed on the latest Initiate Trials. The ceremony marked the graduation of Den Jaxton, Kalyx, and Tarrin Feruwi. Each representing a distinct blend of species, personalities, and Force training regiments.

A fairly young, thin, Mon Calamari sat to the right side of the room in a low-backed mauve colored, plush chair. She was wearing a beige Jedi Knight tunic and a large cowl that was folded back behind her head exposing her rounded cornflower blue shaded skin crossed horizontally with dark blue stripes.

Facing the transparisteel window was a solidly built, middle age Jedi in a dusky tan tunic. His dark skin was accented by a smooth shaved head, and a gruff expression that the elder Jedi wore most of his many years at the Temple. Master Windu, turned to greet the three newly crowned Padawan learners as they were ushered into the austere meeting chamber. One was a young human with short, wavy brown hair, and brown eyes. The second appeared human with long black hair, but wore a purple cloth that covered his eye sockets. The third was a tall, Trandoshan, a reptilian species with a disreputable history.

The trio stepped toward the center of the large chamber followed by a dark metallic plated droid, that looked vaguely humanoid in shape, but wore a visual sensor consisting of a red line that spanned a metal indention across it's face where one would expect eyes on most beings.

Mace Windu shifted his gaze to each of the young Jedi, locking his penetrating eyes with theirs as if laying their souls bare. He ended his inspection on the droid that stayed in the back, greeting the unit with a curt nod.

The renowned Master shifted his head toward the Mon Cal, who stood promptly. Her large nostrils flared as she was introduced by the senior Jedi. "This is Jedi Knight Jini Relliri, who is a Commander in the Grand Army of the Republic. She will be your guide until you reach your masters' location."

The fish like alien blinked her large, dark eyes as she glanced at the three students and the droid unit and gave a slight bow of her striped head in a greeting gesture.

Master Windu lifted his square chin and spoke succinctly. "Congratulations on your promotion to Jedi Padawan learner status. You have passed your trials successfully, with the knowledge necessary to move to the next phase of your studies. You will be assigned to a master who will further your training in the Force. Due to the war, it will be on the battlefield in most cases as it is for yours."

He paused for a second almost as if suppressing a grimace, but it is hard to be sure on his usually stern face. "We are in the midst of a major push into Separatist territories and the battles are increasingly furious from our enemies. You are going to Cato Nemoidia, where the first assault is taking place as we speak. You will accompany one of the many groups of reinforcement soldiers that are being sent out join the battle at the home world of the perpetrators of this heinous war, Nute Gunray and Rune Haako. You duty will be as a rear guard for the forces there, along with a contingent of Clone soldiers which you will meet at MedStar One Zero Three in orbit above us. There, the transport ship Reliant will deliver you to the Neimodian system to join the effort to capture the Separatist stronghold."

He seemed to try and look aloof, but failed at it and somehow made him appear more menacing than he obviously intended. He waved his hand gesturing toward the droid. "This is K1Ti, he is an computer expert that will be aiding your mission and is an ally of the Jedi. If any of you have questions, Jedi Knight Relliri has been fully briefed and will answer them as you make your way to the hangar level and board your waiting shuttle."

Jini approached the three and gave a warm smile. She held up three half meter long silver containers and gave it to each of the padawans. They popped the release catches and revealed lightsaber hilts half buried in a foam padded tray.

Prelude - Initiates of the Order

Under the gaze of Master Windu Kalyx stands tall and erect, almost stiffly, such was the pressure that he felt.

As the Mon-Calamari approached them he bowed, feeling relieved to at least break the postural tension. When the case was opened his grim features lit up. A Jedi weapon. They must have genuine belief in him!

Almost eagerly he reaches out to take one.

Prelude - Initiates of the Order

The young human stood quietly, watching the ceremony unfold before him. He does his best to hide his mixed emotions (mostly pride and nervousness). The war that the Jedi waged seemed so far away, that he almost had forgotten about it. However, it seems that they were now going joining it.

Den continued to remain quiet until he opened his case. The young padawan's eyes widen at the sight of gleaming hilt. It seemed much bigger than the training lightsabers and somehow more sleek. His hand momentarily runs over the smooth metal, feeling every detail along it. He pulls it out of the case and feels the weight of it in his hand. It seemed a little heavier than the training sabers, but certainly something he could get used to. He clips it to his belt, feeling its weight on his waist and smiles a little. This is it. He is one step closer to becoming a Jedi Knight.

Prelude - Initiates of the Order

K1T1 stood to one side as the ceremony began. The dark metal of the Droid's casing had been polished and glistened as it reflected some of the morning sun's rays. Other than the darker colour of its plating, the only other difference between it and any stock model of 3P0 Droid was the single red line that replaced the normal optical sensors that other Protocol Droids possessed. The look did give the Droid a more machine-like appearance, and some might consider it intimidating.

The Droid bowed slightly as Master Windu spoke and introduced it to the newly promoted Jedi Padawans. The machine did not speak but straightened as the Jedi Master explained what was about to happen. K1T1 watched silently as the Mon Calamari approached the three students and opened the case, showing the weapon that was the signature of the Jedi - the Lightsabre.

Watching as Master Rellri approached the Padawans and presented the case that contained their weapons, and each one of the students reached in and took possession of their sabres, one at a time. K1T1 took a slight step forward closer to Master Windu and a small string of noises was heard. "Boop-boop-beep." the droid began, then stopped suddenly. What was heard next was a feminine voice, one that sounded as though the droid was thoroughly embarrassed.  "Apologies, Master Windu."

Prelude - Initiates of the Order

When faced with the stormcloud that was Master Windu, Tarrin was not sure whether he should wilt or stand strong.  Jedi were not supposed to feel or present fear, but the young Miraluka had a feeling that the Founders had not met someone quite like Master Windu when they created that particular part of the guidelines of the Jedi Order.  The dark-haired Padawan finally settled on the respectful demeanor he usually showed when he engaged in socializing.  As the Jedi Master congratulated the three of them on their new promotion, Tarrin inclined his head, giving thanks for the acknowledgement.

As Jini approached, his senses skimmed over her features.  Colors did not mean much to one who could not see them succinctly such as he, but as he extended his senses out through the Force, he could tell that she was a Mon Cal that was walking toward him who was stronger in the Force than an average person.  When she held out the offered silver container to him, he opened the catch to reveal the simple lightsaber hilt.  Taking it in hand, he turned it smoothly, getting a feel for the cool metal resting in his palm.  The object felt foreign, but he expected that with some usage it would begin to feel like a trusted friend.  It took everything he had not to examine and tinker with the object right then--a product of his insatiable curiosity when it came to trying new things.  There were questions unanswered.  What color was the lightsaber crystal?  How was its construction?  Was the crystal focused appropriately?  Could he tune it appropriately for his own use?  There was likely plenty of time to examine the lightsaber while they were en route to wherever they were going.  Turning on a lightsaber during a formal event just to satisfy his curiosity was further than he would usually go.

Clipping the lightsaber to hang from his belt, Tarrin nodded his thanks to Jini.  He was unsure about going to the Front during a war, but a Jedi was supposed to go where they were needed, and the Front was most definitely where they were needed right now.  The Jedi Masters had originally been conflicted about what their involvement would be when the war had broken out, but there was no question to the Miraluka that their involvement was necessary.  The Republic needed them in order to secure itself effectively.  It didn't hurt that the conflict afforded him the opportunity to learn more instead of being limited by what was available at the Jedi Temple.  There was still a great deal to learn, but practical applications were only really available outside the doors.

"It is a pleasure to meet both you and K1T1," the Miraluka stated warmly at Jini, his features facing her in order to have his body language reveal the target of his speech.  The rich purple cloth around his eyes shifted slightly as his face turned toward the Jedi Master.  "I hope you will forgive me a small question, Master Windu?" he asked with a respectful tone.  "I understand Jedi Knight Relliri will be taking us to Cato Nemoidia for further instruction.  But who is our new Master?"

Mace actually seemed bemused as the droid spoke in binary, then abruptly apologized. "You are an interesting droid, K1."

The Jedi Master gave the Miraluka a sideway glance while he spoke and stared at him for a few seconds before responding, "As you may have already guessed, Master Farroda will be continuing your training padawan. Jedi Relliri knows all of this information, and the Clone trooper are waiting for your arrival.." He gestured to all five of the people and droids. "... so you are all dismissed. May the Force be with you."

Prelude - Initiates of the Order

K1T1 pivoted to regard the young human, the red line of her ocular sensor brightened slightly. "A pleasure, Sir Den. To answer your question, I will be gathering any and all information that will be useful in completing our mission." Although the Droid looked more machine-like than most, the voice was distinctly feminine as it spoke. "I will gather intelligence on the Separatists and their plans where available,  defeat their efforts to hide and conceal their intentions, and assist the three of you in any way I can in order for the Republic to succeed in this conflict."

Prelude - Initiates of the Order

The Mon Cal Jedi led the droid and three padawans out of the polished meeting chamber. Master Windu headed out the other direction toward the Jedi Council chambers, while Jini took them the opposite direction toward the Temple's hangar wing.

She spoke in her species typically gravelly, watery voice, though it was much higher pitch than even most Mon Calamari you've met. "I apologize for Master Windu. I'm sure you are probably already aware, he can be a bit abrupt at the best of times. This has been an eventful few days of late. With Count Dooku dead, the Republic is ramping up everything to bring this war to a close. We are taking the momentum from the loss of their leader as a way to break apart the Coalition of Independent Systems once and for all. This is the most Jedi we have had out on assignments since the war began. But, please feel free to ask me anything you want. I shall help continue your training until you arrive with your masters."

OOC: I left out the blade descriptions so you can choose what color your lightsaber you want, either green or blue since they are from the Jedi Temple stock. You can make some more interesting colors when you learn to build your own.
