If resurrection is a thing in this world, I don't mind a hard campaign either. If resurrection is not a mechanic, I'd prefer not to get insta splattered

I know that limited resurrection, at least, is a thing...I don't know about the regular kind.

I'm not opposed to difficult, but dying in a fight that we had little to no chance of winning would kinda suck.

Revivify (basically resurrection, but has to be done within 1 minute of death) is only a 3rd level cleric spell, so we'd have access by character level 5. Unfortunately, it's expensive (300 gp) - maybe Ismark can cover the cost of a couple bags of diamonds once Joaquin hits level 5? :) That's assuming such things actually work in Ravenloft.

In terms of survivability, I'm also considering picking up a level of fighter once I can afford better armor. It would be nice to switch to medium armor and grab a shield so my AC isn't so terrible. Plus you get a fighting style at level 1, which is pretty sweet: a +2 attack bonus for ranged attacks would be very nice. I guess I'd have to switch to hand crossbow or sling if I wanted to use a shield with it though. The drawbacks are that I'd be a level behind in getting my ability increase/feat and my sneak attack damage increases.

Oz may become more of a flaming battlemage than a true caster, as well. It sounds like we're going to need to hire an armorsmith...

So a bunch of unrelated things happened at once just now. Going to be MIA until this evening at which point I will take a look and try to reconcile them.

I'm confused about the timeline at the moment, I guess. Oz would have reacted the moment Joaquin said something, but if we want to retcon such that the whisper and the subsequent action didn't occur until after the burial that's fine, too.

EDIT: GM's on it. Rock on :)

Let's just say that Oz contained himself and waited until after the service, while Donavich was distracted shaking hands with Tobias to set the church in imaginary fire. Sound good?

Since the gravedigger is coming in the morning - does this mean the body is going to just stay on the cart next to the empty grave overnight?

If so, bringing it back inside makes sense to me. Otherwise we might consider guarding the body until it gets buried.

I'm not sure how this works with whatever is going on at the church... I was about to ask this question of Father D before the talk of screaming and "burning" churches started.

I'm concerned the fire illusion won't do much, since Minor Illusions don't move or emit light.

It can be a series of prestidigitations if it needs to be, using the illusion to provide the sound effects.

Unless you actually want me to set the church on fire...because that's plan B.

Before we set anything on fire for reals, shouldn't we just ask Father D what the hell is going on? Or we could just turn around and head straight into the church like it's no big deal.

Of course, I guess only Joaquin and Oz know about whatever is going on in the church, so no one else gets a vote yet.

Also, maybe the illusion will fluster Father D into revealing something about the church before he has a chance to inspect it and determine it isn't real.

Also, to expand on my previous point and to agree with some later posts, I very much like difficult and dont mind having PCs dying as long as there is a possibility of winning.

There is a section in the GM menu for game maps if you have image files to upload. The thread works too but I thought it was worth a mention. It connects to the Game Maps link up near the dice roller.

In what order are you descending the stairs? Bear in mind Ismark is going with you.

Ok.

Per that recommendation, your order would be Joaquin, Astrid, Ismark, Alaric, Nico, and finally Oz.  Tobias has opted to go down the stairs already and as such he and Doru will have a round of actions before the others of you enter initiative.

If Joaquin wants to have cast bless on anyone prior to action (not necessarily combat) beginning, he may do so.

As this seems like something Chris would do, Astrid is going to give a bardic inspiration to Joaquin.  Josh, this means that, during the next 10 minutes, you may add 1d6 to an ability check, attack roll, or saving throw after rolling.

Good luck!  Vampire spawn are nothing to sneeze at, even with seven of you versus one of it.
