The Golden Corral is a speakeasy running behind a bakery front on South Miami Avenue in Miami, Florida. The bakery is the Rosenquist Home Bakery. A spoken code phrase gets you into the back and up a narrow set of stairs to the second floor, where the speakeasy lives. Alcohol and gambling form the majority of the business for the Golden Corral.
The Golden Corral is owned by Mother Jones (known to a few by her real name of Mabel Jones), a savvy business woman in her forties. Jones has so far rejected the new addictive alcohol being peddled by the newcomers to Miami, preferring the old fashioned stuff for her customers. Business has suffered because of this, and pressure is mounting on her to sell the new alcohol.
The Golden Corral is very loosely based on the Tobacco Road speakeasy. You can find a picture on this writeup:
