Combat Notes

Just starting this thread to talk about combat. Feel free to post questions and ideas here.

Because play by post is slow enough already, it's not reasonable to wait for people to post in initiative order. For starters, I'd like to have everyone roll for initiative, but then just proceed to list your first action, regardless of what you roll for initiative. We can resolve the exact order of events later.

Like you did for perception rolls, copy and paste in orange from the die roller at the bottom of your post. Go ahead and roll damage, too, just in case you hit.

Alternatively, we can just forego initiative completely and have actions take place in posting order (first come, first serve). In that case, I'd just wait for the last post from the four of you before going for the baddies. We do this in one other game I play and it works well (plus, the players essentially always get to go first, which is kind of nice). It may make sense to just do it that way, but for now, let's at least throw the initiative roll in at the get go to see if it helps.

And since everyone has to complete their first round action before we go to the second round, please do what you can to post daily if possible, or at least every other day. If I don't hear from you by the 2nd day, I will post on your behalf just to keep things going.

Any questions or ideas regarding combat, let me know.

In reply to DM (msg # 1):

I think it might be difficult to figure out the whole initiative thing and damage especially when someone is low on hit points...I suggest scrapping it, but it is your call.
