Re: 01.02: Four Season's Back-of-House (Gordon, Mona)
I don't know. Lydia said.  A standard child response.  But after a moment, she said, Because I didn't take my medicine.  It makes me feel sick.

"But my mom says if I don't take it, I do things I don't remember.  I've got soma... a sunny embolism.     Lydia looked absolutely miserable.  She says I killed a chicken!

Nausea is a common side-effect for antidepressants and anti-psychotics, not to mention a whole crap-load of other types of medication...

"Let me guess," he said calmly, not over-reacting to the chicken, "In addition to doing things you you don't remember, you also hear voices.  Voices that do not sound like you."

He is trying to be very reassuring.

Lydia nodded her head.

Sorry to give you so little to react to... It just seemed appropriate an in-character for her to agree silently.   I'll run with whatever direction you wanna take this...

"Lydia, I have a question for you. I want you to answer honestly, and maybe think about it a bit before you do. Do you want to find out what's going on with you, or do you just want to forget about it and go home? We're good at finding stuff out, but people don't always like the answers, and once you get some knowledge, you can't give it back. This is your red pill, blue pill moment."

He nods.

"Unlike the other 'experts' you have been taken to, we actually may know whats happening to you and we, me especially, are in a position to help you deal with it, learn from it, and grow."
He sighs.

"Or, we can take you back home.  Get you back on your medications.  And, like Mona said, forget about it."

"I don't wanna take any pills." Lydia said in a small voice.  "I always forget and then people yell at me.  I don't wanna be a zombie.

Mona was speechless for a second, then leaned toward Gordon, wide eyes still on Lydia.

"Oh my god, she's adorable." Mona returned her attention to the girl and shook her head.

"No, sweetheart, it was a thing from a movie about choices. We're giving you a choice now. If you want to know what's happening to you, Gordon can help. He's an expert. If you don't want to know, then we really shouldn't tell you. All you have to do is tell us what you want for yourself."

"Mom said that I can't change anything if I don't know what's going on." Lydia said. Can I do it without taking pills?

Okay, she is kinda focused, here.

"That's the hope," he said, "It would probably be better to wean you off your current regime than to just stop.  Maybe just a temporary sleep aid, but that would be short term until you get a handle on what is happening."

He pauses for emphasis.

"Do you want to know?  This is important, so I need to hear you say it."

Re: 01.02: Four Season's Back-of-House (Gordon, Mona)
He beams at her.

"Well done!  Well done, indeed.  The first step is the hardest and you took it!" he sits comfortably on the desk as he shows her his business card.

"I am a Doctor...a psychologist.  So, you can believe me when I tell you....  Listen closely.... You. Are. Not. Crazy," he smiles reassuringly before continuing at a pace that he hopes she is comfortable with.

"Something, however, is happening to you.  What, exactly?  We will figure it out.  What I think is happening is that you have an extraordinary Gift.  And like all important Gifts, it is hard for you to understand and use at first.  So, you hear voices when you don't want to and black out.  You do things with-out remembering them."

He holds up his finger for emphasis.

"But, once you understand, YOU are in control.  The voices may still come but you can ignore them and even maybe tell them what to do."

He continues to smile.

"Now...there is a lot to do, and we can't get it all done now.  We have to get you home and find you some shoes," he chuckles, "but is there anything you want to ask right now?"

"Doctor Hegger said I was doing what I realyl wanted in my sleep, that I really wanted to kill the chicken.  Lydia asked.  She wouldn't make eye contact.  "He said I could be a psycho-pet.  But I d-don't want to kill chickens.  I'm not a... a chicken-killer!"  she finally said with a deep sob.

Re: 01.02: Four Season's Back-of-House (Gordon, Mona)
Mona kept her voice soft, trying to be reassuring. It wasn't something she was skilled at.

"It's possible it wasn't even really you, Lydia. Look, there's a lot that could have happened, and maybe something else killed that chicken while you were blacked out. Weirder things have happened. Try not to focus on that right now, okay? Let's start looking at the here and now, make sure you're aware of where you are, at least." She shifted in her seat, putting her feet back on the floor (she'd slipped the high heeled shoes off before pulling up her legs) and leaning forward.

"Lydia, right now you're at a wedding. This last time you blacked out, you came here and told the manager lady that you're Gordon's daughter, so if you could keep pretending that's a thing until we get you away from here, that'd be awesome. None of us really wants to get in trouble with management. Next, the voice talking through you said it was a friend of yours, gave us good reason to believe it, and that we needed to get you to Niimi or Mrs. Hansen. Do you know either of those names?"

He nods indicating that he wants Lydia to answer Mona before adding.

"No... you are not a psychopath.  Your Gift.... If I am right, is complicated.  Do you know what spirits are?"

Re: 01.02: Four Season's Back-of-House (Gordon, Mona)
"Exactly," he says, "I believe that your Gift is that you can interact with them but you can't control it.  So...you hear voices telling you weird things that don't make very much sense.  After all, they are not human so how they think would not always make sense to a young lady like yourself."

He frowns.

"And some of the more powerful ones... break in to borrow your body for a bit.  You didn't kill that chicken.  A spirit did...it just needed your hands.  Why?  I have no idea.  It is how you got here today.  A spirit, who said that they will be a friend of ours, needed to get us a message.  So, they borrowed you.  It felt bad about it, it knows that it bothers you.  So, it wanted to make sure you were safe."

He smiles.

"Because my Gift is that I am Wizard and an expert on keeping things OUT of people's heads," he taps the side of his skull, "And I can teach you.  I can teach you the different kinds of spirits.  How to talk to them.  How to work with them.  And, most importantly, how to get them to leave you alone.  Would you like that?"

Re: 01.02: Four Season's Back-of-House (Gordon, Mona)
Lydia's eyes went wide at the mention of the word wizard.  She seemed like she didn't entirely believe him but really--desperately--wanted to.  You mean like... Harry Potter?

Lydia swallowed.  "Nimii."  She said after a moment.  "She's my babysitter.  Sometimes."

Mrs. Hansen would be Denise Hansen of the Duwamish tribe.    What Gordon suspects Lydia is experiencing would remind him pretty heavily of what Denise went through.  (Gordon offered her as a NPC, and is listed in the Who What Where reference thread)

Mona gave Lydia a grin as she responded to Gordon.

"She's a good friend of mine, too. We'll make sure you're okay, okay?"

[Yeah, I looked Mrs. Hansen up when she was mentioned, but I'm not sure if Mona would know her. She might, as Mona knows a lot of people. Would probably be up to Gordon, though. Both OOC and IC, what with introductions and all.]

Lydia nodded, seeming to get herself under control a bit more.  The mention of Nimii seemed to help.  It wasn't clear if she recognized Mrs. Hansen.

"I just want to be normal..." Lydia said.  "But if I can tell them 'no', can I make them leave me alone?

Okay...  Switching to metaplot for a moment...

Lydia does want the teachign, btu she's nervous, because talking with spirits sounds crazy and that's scary.  Especially if everyone around you thinks you're crazy.   She definitely brightens at the thought of seeing Nimii.  Keep in mind that Facility manager Kenna and Todd are in the next room.  What do you tell them?

I've met my objectives to use Lydia to pass things on.   So, how do you want to close out this scene?  Is there anything else you want to do or say with Lydia before we move on?

Re: 01.02: Four Season's Back-of-House (Gordon, Mona)
[I'm fine leaving most of that to Gordon. Mona wants to make sure the girl is safe, which she trusts Gordon with, but is also going to call Niimi. She carries an old Nokia dumbphone on the kind of prepaid plans you get at WalMart, as they're super resilient and affordable. Mona can also keep in touch with Lydia to make sure she's okay over the long term.

Also, how do you spell Niimi? Her character body and entry are "Niimi", but you type it "Nimii".]

Re: 01.02: Four Season's Back-of-House (Gordon, Mona)
He smiles then laughs.

"Yes... like Harry Potter, but, to be honest, Mr. Potter was just a kid.... I am waaay better.  In fact, Voldemort never scared me because I know more than even him," he nods seriously, "Me and Dumbledore."

"Now, lets tell these nice security people that we straightened everything up and we will take you home...."

Let's close out by explaining that she got really startled by something at home when she was supposed to be in bed.  And she bolted.  That's based off of what she told them initially.  We can pitch any detail differences that she is a scared kid...with no shoes.  We will take her home.  We will check in with everyone else before we leave to let them know that something is going down.  Gorden will take over her psychological care (free of charge) in the long run.  Probably will initially ward her room against spirits and the like until she gets the hang of it.  He'll probably give a call to Ms. Hanson to let her know that he found another person with a similar gift but of a slightly different flavor than hers.

Re: 01.02: Four Season's Back-of-House (Gordon, Mona)
Yeah, I'd built her as Niimi.   I've also been calling the Larshal The Marshall with two Ls.   I'm not going back to change anything.   So long as you can figure it out, I'll continue to barrel forward.  But for fucks sake...  if I've been calling your character by the wrong name, call me on it.  the NPCs don't matter so much to me.  The PCs do.

Re: 01.02: Four Season's Back-of-House (Gordon, Mona)

So..  Keeping it metaplot...  Do you want to take Lydia home or take her to Niimi (See, I got it right that time)....  Who goes to Lydia's house?

The lights were on when they got there and Lydia's mother was dressed in an ancient over-sized house-coat, her hair frizzy and unkempt, big dark bags under her eyes.  She wasn't angry... just concerned, afraid even.  She was wary around Gordon, but Mona or Niimi would make a good counter-balance.

Re: 01.02: Four Season's Back-of-House (Gordon, Mona)
We go to Niimi then to Lydia's.  Gordon will probably have swing by his place for some things.  But he will say what he needs to say to mom to get her to allow them to help.  He will be sympathetic to her problems as well, because, well, he would be.  That's the type of guy he is.
