Todd and Kenna exchanged a glance.  Kenna raised an eyebrow; Todd shrugged.  "Security office next door.  Nothing sensitive there.  But there is a camera."

Kenna nodded and stood.  "Todd or I will be right here.   Please let us know if you need anything.  You're with the Shwete wedding party.  Should we notify anyone there?

Re: 01.02: Four Season's Back-of-House (Gordon, Mona)
"That would be very nice of you," he smiles, "If you could inform Ms. Porter that that a situation has come up and that we will touch base with her if we need to leave."

He keeps his arm wrapped around Lydia's shoulder in a fatherly/comforting position as they lead them to a private room.

"Now, my dear," he says to her, "I want to thank you for coming to tell me personally, but let's get some details so we can figure out what to do next."

Well, I am definately not spending a point.  I mainly made the roll because you said to, but upon re-reading, your direction was mainly aimed at Mona.  I'll try to use it anyway.  So... based on Gordon's helpful nature, I am looking for ways to get honest (ish) information from her and how/if I need to help her.

Re: 01.02: Four Season's Back-of-House (Gordon, Mona)
Mona followed along quietly, and let Gordon do all the talking. It helped her keep her eyes and ears open when she kept her mouth shut. Besides, the only person she'd want to bother with her location was Willa, and Gordon took care of that. It would seem rude to worry her brother with that sort of thing.

[Actually, I think I'll take another roll as well. This one to make that mental map of the place I was talking about earlier. Focus, this time, as I can't really justify Intellect.

22:30, Today: Mona rolled -1 using 4 Fudge dice with rolls of 0, 0, 0, -1.  Focus +1, Create Advantage.

Ugh. +0 total. Well, maybe Mona's too distracted with Lydia to keep her mind on task.]

Honestly,  it's a hotel.  there's a door to the side of the front desk.  a small hallway with a lunchroom to the left, a supply closet beside it, two offices at the end of the hall.  A right turn with a couple of doors you don't see into.

Re: 01.02: Four Season's Back-of-House (Gordon, Mona)
Todd opened the room with a key.  The room was even more bare. holding only a solid wooden desk and a computer that was not powered on, and three chairs, one behind the desk. There was a black dome in the rear corner of the room right next to a sprinkler-head.  There were some papers on a corkboard nailed to the wall with infographics for things like "National Use of Force Model" "Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs for Customer Service" and "How to Effect Corporate Change".

Todd checked the desk drawer to ensure it was locked, then backed out of the room.

Re: 01.02: Four Season's Back-of-House (Gordon, Mona)
Okay.  Lydia said once Todd was gone.  "Bredbeddle said this was the date of  mother's wedding.  I knew Ms Porter lives here, so...  Look, I don't have a lot of time.   You guys did something before I was born.  I don't know what.  Bert didn't go into detail.  But he did say that I warned you, so here I am.

Lydia took a breath.  You guys... You, Luke, Ms Porter, Marcus, Mona and the gunslinger.  You've all got a big red target on your back.  The slipperies... You need to find Sebastian Strauss.  He can help.  He's got a bunch of research you need.

Oh hell.  Lydia said.  She fretted.  Lydia's about to wake up.  She's going to be really freaked out.  This is part of her thing.  Get her to Nimii or Mrs. Hansen. I don't think I'm the first to ride her, but I won't be the last..."

OOC: And if we have a line-up change down the road, this list of identified people will also change.

Also... she's not gone yet.  You can ask questions...

Re: 01.02: Four Season's Back-of-House (Gordon, Mona)
Well that wasn't what she was expecting. Still, Mona took the information dump in as much stride as she could, shooting Gordon a glance to see how well he was following. Also to see how surprised he was. At least she'd managed to remember the names in a hurry.

"Who are you? And who is Lydia?" It was the first thing that came to mind, knowing who they were speaking to. Mona could guess, but it would be easier without assumptions. Also she was about to be responsible for what sounded like an innocent intermediary, and that felt important too.

"I can't tell you who I am.  That might change things.  But I swear on my children's future that I mean you no harm. I am tapping Bredbeddle's sap to speak with you."

Lydia folded her hands in her lap. and took long slow breaths.  It was a technique Gordon would be familiar with for mentally calming yourself down.  "Here's what I can tell you.  Lydia is pretty freaked out.   She ran away from home because she heard voices.  Voices that talk back to her.  She thinks she's crazy.  She's not.  It's a Griffin and Sabine thing.  I've been talking with her for years.

"She gets help.  She gets over this stupid goth thing, grows up, gets married and gets happy.  She'll change people's lives.   She's a horse."

Mona nodded slowly. That explained why the doctor had been called.

"So you're a friend of ours, possessing this girl, to tell us that we're in danger and need to find someone named Sebastian Strauss about research. And in a minute we'll need to take care of this girl, too. Does that about cover it? How can we find you again?"

"If a friend didn't introduce me to Doctor Who, I would be a little more lost right now," he mutters, but just listens as Mona asked good questions and he did not want to over talk her.  That, and he figured out who she might be, but exploring that would probably tangle him up with the Sixth Law.

He does decide to add, "Can you give us a clue about how or where to find Sebastian Strauss?"

Re: 01.02: Four Season's Back-of-House (Gordon, Mona)

"Google."  Lydia answered immediately.  "He's at one of the universities.

Lydia nodded at Mona.  "You won't be able to find me.  I don't even exist.  I'm just a voice inside Lydia's head.   But Professor Strauss.   You can google him.  He's got a problem he needs help with.  And you're really going to want to help him with it.  Oh, this is super frustrating!.  I can't tell you anything!

Lydia's eyes rolled back in her head and her head rolled to one side.  her shoulders jerked briefly and her whole body spasmed gently.  Then her head fell forward and Lydia's breathing calmed down, deepened, became regular.

OOC:  Bredbeddle is the name Abigail has given to the little stick figure that defended her in the Porter Laurelhurst mansion.  He hasn't been seen much in recent times, but Abigail often has a twig and leaf memento allegedly made from him with her most the time.   "Bredbeddle" was the name given to "The Green Knight" in the poem of the same name.

Gordon rushes over to make sure Lydia doesn't fall over.

"I think that is all we are going to get," he says, "Now we just have to make sure Lydia is ok."

He gently checks he over.

"I think their is a good chance she is going to be 'freaked out' in a couple minutes."

Their friend's time was brief, but informative. Mona helped Gordon ease Lydia into one of the chairs.

"What are the odds we get thrown out of here if she screams? Pretty high, right? What if we sit in the other chairs? Giving her some space might help."

Re: 01.02: Four Season's Back-of-House (Gordon, Mona)
Mona nodded and scooted over to the other chair. It left her nearby, but not too close. Another thought struck her, and she decided to ease the girl into consciousness.

"Lydia? Lydia, can you hear me? You're okay. It's safe here, you're with friends." At the very least, letting the girl know she wasn't alone would be good. Not only is that normally comforting, but waking up surrounded by quiet people staring at you is pretty freaky. Mona gave her friendliest voice, but kept it soft. Hopefully their new friend would be more curious than terrified.

[I'd like to make a Guile roll to Create an Advantage here. Guile representing the subtlety and ulterior motive (not getting thrown out by Kenna and Todd). Create Advantage to get a free invoke of Safe Space to immediately use to keep Lydia calm.

15:51, Today: Mona rolled -1 using 4 Fudge dice with rolls of 0, 1, -1, -1.  Guile +3, Create Advantage.

Total: +2. Well, that's hopefully something.]

Re: 01.02: Four Season's Back-of-House (Gordon, Mona)
Gordon waits and watches.  He doesn't want to overwhelm Lydia by adding another voice.  So, he takes the time to figure out, based on what he knows and what he just witnessed, what is going on with her.  As much as he would like to do a more thorough investigation before giving her a diagnosis....mystical, psychological, or otherwise.....but he is going to have to.  If nothing else, he wants something to offer her to help calm her down for now.  In the long run, he is going to need it to help her.

(ooc:  I was going to make a knowledge roll so I could tell her exactly what is going on but I think I am going to wait because, from Gordon's perspective, the most important thing is to keep her calm and earn her trust.  In addition to Mona already starting that, it's not something a person can do with-out interacting with them for a bit.  Or at least watching her (the real her) for a bit.  If it would make more sense to do it now.  Let me know,)

MONA:
4dF(-1) + Guile(+3) == Result(+2).   Situation doesn't seem particularly frought with tension or risk.  So a Mediocre(+0) target makes sense to me.  It's a success!   You can add a free invoke to SAFE SPACE for this scene.

GORDON:
I'm perfectly okay doing it strictly through the narrative.  What you're talking about sounds like it could be a Contest, but I don't really see Lydia as having an opposing agenda.

Re: 01.02: Four Season's Back-of-House (Gordon, Mona)

Lydia's head slumped forward, then slowly, she shook her head.  She hung her head for a while, but it was obvious that she was awake and aware, possibly feigning unconsciousness.  her breathing had changed, and unconsciously, she'd tightened her fists.

After a long moment, listening to Monda, Lydia lifted her head and asked in a very small, uncertain voice.  "Where am I?  I didn't...  Was anybody hurt?

Her breath caught on the second question and something greyish appeared on the back of her hand, held tightly in her lap.  Water tinged with mascara.

Re: 01.02: Four Season's Back-of-House (Gordon, Mona)
The girl was awake. That was a good start. Her opening questions sounded far more serious than Mona was expecting, and she seemed to be a very different sort of freaked out than was expected as well. The werecat shot a quick look at Gordon, but figured since she'd started the talking, she should continue it for the moment. With a deep breath, she turned back to Lydia and shook her head.

"No, no one was hurt. You...well, something, came and warned us that someone needs our help and that a few of our friends are in danger. Really, you may have helped people out a lot. Definitely didn't hurt anyone. But right now we're kind of more interested in helping you, if that's okay. It said you'd be freaked out, and...well you're kind of at a party, a wedding, so maybe we can change 'freaked out' to, y'know. Comfortable? Uh...How are you feeling?" She winced and looked over at Gordon again, with the "help me" eyebrows.

"No....no one was hurt," says Gordon reassuringly, "This is Mona and I am Gordon.  Evidently, you have one of my business cards.  What's your name?"

They know it, of course, but she hasn't said it yet.  By pitching the conversation back towards her, Gordon is hopping she will feel a little bit more in control and calmer. He also moved a little closer but leans against the desk to appear relaxed and non-threatening.

"L-Lydia" Lydia said.  "Lydia Smythe.   Am I in trouble?  I get confused sometimes.  I don't... "   She started shaking a little, then tried to take a breath, but it came out as a strangled sob.

"I'm... I'm sorry."  Lydia said.  "I just want to g-go home. I don't know you.  Why... Where are my boots?"

Re: 01.02: Four Season's Back-of-House (Gordon, Mona)
Mona leaned back in her chair and pulled her legs up onto the seat, sitting sort of sideways. She didn't interrupt, once the psychiatrist was doing the talking. A few questions were forming in her head, potentially important ones, but she'd let the girl get comfortable first.
