Completely different.

In fact, I was basing her off of "Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice.  But, if it works for you to go the other way, so be it!

Re: Best laid plans
Oh no, I'm totally fine with her being a bit Deetzier. I was just trying to wrap my head around it, because Dresden's Lydia looks pretty much exactly the same, was around the same age when introduced, and was also possessed by at least one ghost (twice, I believe). The problem came that this game is set something like ten years after that, and I got really confused. But I don't mind that every Lydia in the Dresdenverse has ghost-related issues. :P

Man that was a good movie...

Luke,  Can you update the Latest & Greatest thread post with the Appropriate Aspects?    Or confirm that what's there is appropriate and correct?   I may be looking to invoke soon.

Since there is no hard and fast rule for how many languages your character speak, I'll let you all decide...  Please comment here so I can create the language groups.  Please don't go overboard, but don't feel you have to scrimp, either...

Thinking The Marshal has been around for a bit, so...

Fluent (Speak/Literate)
Creole (can get by in dedicated root language conversations: French/English/Spanish/Hatian)
Latin
English

"Conversational" aptitude... Enough to get by...
Navajo
Tsalagi (Cherokee)

Well enough to politely explain that he's inept without offending anyone...
Japanese
Chinese
Local tribal dialects

Latin due to training.

French due to high school but very rusty.

Spanish due to his job.

He is working on Greek because one of his friends is encouraging him.

He has also picked up a few phrases and words in the local tribal language.  He has a few friends there, but he is no where near proficient.  He can recognize when it is being spoken and can probably pull out some names and other labels (sky, water, idiot, etc...)

Oh...and his native tongue is American English.

Mona speaks English, French, and Lushootseed. Not sure how literate she is outside of English. Most of her schooling was self-taught, as her father didn't see the need for her to go to school when she could learn to actually do things.

The French is mainly from hijacked Canadian broadcasting. Ever watch Yu-Gi-Oh in French? Riveting.

It kinda is the bad sportsmanship show. The characters are needlessly mean to each other, they straight up murder people over a card game, it's bizarre. Cool monster art, though.

Hey boss, you posted Lydia as Kenna. :P

Also, I'm gonna let Gordon take the next post before I chime in. Not sure if I'll be able to today, as there is a whirlwind of stuff happening at some point in the near future.

Marcus it'd be English, Spanish and smatterings of German though his German would be even more limited in written form.

Offline for much of the week

It's currently Wednesday morning 4 am my time.  I'm just off work and about to go to bed.

I work tomorrow night (err... tonight, Wednesday night), then have errands and a drinking night on Thursday.  Out-of-town Friday, Saturday & Sunday for my little sister's wedding, then back to work on Monday.

All of that to say that I don't expect to be online after Thursday night.

I'm trying to work out what the next scene should be...

It doesn't have to be together.

Gordon & Mona
Do you want to play out the interaction with Lydia's mother?  What does your character do after dropping Lydia off?  What does a typical Saturday night look like?  Of course, I'm not expecting that anything you do has to be together.

Luke
Tied up with the house break-in

An interaction with mum could be fun, but if it is necessary, that is ok too.

This Saturday night is different from the most since an issue has been dropped in his lap.  He would probably start investigating the names he was given, or research Lydia's issue, or perhaps general spell research.  He was supposed to be at a wedding reception so it's not like he had back-ups planned.

On a typical Saturday night, if he is not catching up on work, he would have a dinner with friends (in or out), read, catch a show (with or with-out others), letter writing, visiting book-stores/coffee shops, or work on a project (he is a bit of a magic geek.  Not as bad as Harry as potions are not his thing, but he does enjoy crafting mystical formulae for more mundane use...practical magic).  Current projects include, but not limited to.... decent lighting (like Molly's), wards, a working 'refrigerator', researching non-black psychic techniques/defenses, and magical long distance communication.

If he really felt like getting out and about, he would spend some time in Oz.  Either visiting those he knows or simply wandering/exploring the area.  He does neither of these things lightly, but they can be enjoyable.

If Lydia's mother is likely to show up again and have the potential to affect things, narrative flow suggests we see what impression we all get on each other initially. If you don't expect to bring her in later, then we could really skip that scene and do something with more focus on the future.

On a typical Saturday night, Mona would be prowling the city, listening and watching to pick up anything she can sell. If she finds something early, she might celebrate by finding a window near a loud TV and listen to whatever's on (she really likes intense drama shows like Battlestar Galactica and House MD; Game of Thrones isn't out yet, right?), maybe get one of those unlimited stacks of pancakes from Denny's if she's feeling really upbeat.

Tonight she's much more likely to track down that person who needs help and see what that's about. She'll take just about any excuse to get out of those shoes and get some comfortable clothes on. ...Though she'll also keep the dress if she can. Oh, she'll also let the others know what the spirit said about them being in danger, if she can find them. I expect that to just be Luke.

Okay, I do, actually, see some value of introducing Lydia's mother and painting some sort of picture of her home life.  Not quite sure how it'll play into things, but it's better to have the groundwork laid so it becomes an option down the road.
