Re: OOC
Well, guys I am now finished with training and hopefully things will get back to normal. Glad you didn't chuck Ander out a airlock.

Re: OOC
Having specific contacts would amount to a boost (or even an upgrade if they're really good). We can certainly write out something about the dealings either way.

Re: OOC
Dran Sobusk - Drall male.  Fence.  Worked with you once before when you needed to offload a few disruptor pistols.  Generally found in a hole in the wall tap room called Zhaff's.

Kayda Forr - Human female.  Smuggler.  You've never worked with her but you've heard she's reputable--for a smuggler.  She maintains a front business running honest freight.  A small holding facility near bay 1347 is where she can be contacted via her protocol droid; an old GE3 model designated T3-G8.

Troon Vurlq - Male Ithorian.  Washed-up explorer.  Tends to know a bit about everything.  Seems particularly knowledgeable about the Unknown Regions.  Pointed you in the direction of the derelict that yielded the hyperdrive and turbolaser.  Doesn't seem to leave the computer terminal in the far corner of the holo-cafe across from the starport.

Re: OOC
In reply to Rynoth (msg # 91):

Works for me.  Who you're interacting with can have implications on how various pieces of the game unfold.  While X die result may yield Y from any contact, your contacts have their own obligations, duties, motivations, etc.  This means that there are possible story implications.  (It also means that it's never a bad idea to do some digging into the lives of the people you are dealing with.)

The galaxy, and the people you will be interacting with, is alive and evolving.  The more you use a specific contact in a fair manner, the more likely they are to offer favorable outcomes (perhaps better payouts) to you.  Additionally, they can and will improve overtime, hopefully resulting in better payouts or other opportunities.

It should be noted that we won't always go with the basic idea of one roll equates to finding a buyer and negotiating a sale.  Sometimes we'll have to expand on that.  For now, a single roll is sufficient.

Thanks Force.

Since noone objected IC ill post working to sell the hyperdrive and work a deal to get the laser installed.  Ill post later tonight in case someone wants to argue.

Re: OOC
Given that he's the one who pointed us to the wreck I'd favor dealing with Troon unless he makes unreasonably bad offers; the Nego check assumes you're canvassing all likely options but it doesn't have to mean that.

Re: OOC
I started high, with 4 successes, each worth about 5% . . . . 6500 doesn't seem a stretch

Is that from one of the Edge splatbooks? Core has a different way of doing it.

Re: OOC
Just the description under general skills in AOR - pg 126

"Extra {success} on a Negotiation check may be used to
increase the acting character's profit by 5% per {success}
They may alternatively be used to modify the scope
of the agreement, so that the contract can extend
for a longer period of time or so more goods may be
obtained for a given price."

Thats it.  So that I am clear, I was just justifying where the 6500 came from on my end.  You are the Boss and I am content with your ruling.  I figured since you said 5000 to 6000, even at 5000, then 5000*5% 3 times over = 6500.

No in depth research, I prefer that the results flow from the NPC rather than me whining about RAW.

  Erm, I'm not the GM!

Sorry, I was thinking of the general market sales but since we're dealing specifically with this one person you're right - and I'd totally forgotten about the separate entry in the skill section. (Just one of the many things where relevant info is scattered around several places in the book.)

No, it wasn't mentioned.  As Snark suggested, the ship started to break apart shortly after you boarded.

Re: OOC
We've gained a total of 20 now, right?

Might be worth putting up a separate thread for XP tracking so it doesn't get lost amidst the OOC talk.

In reply to Rynoth (msg # 104):

Mm, I thought it was 15 but I'll double check tomorrow.  I also agree with your suggestion and will put up an XP/reward thread tomorrow when I post.

Note:  I will be unable to post Monday through Thursday.  You will, however, get 5xp then anyway because I'm so damn nice.  The week after that too.  After that week we'll start actually going by posts/RP.

Thank goodness it all worked out.  My wife was 6 weeks in the hospital with our last one and there is no worse feeling than being unable to help.  Good luck and thanks for keeping the game going!
