Lost to Time - Prelude
The hyperdrive generator floated clear of most debris and had little in the way of additional components still attached to it.  Recovering it would be relatively easy with a skilled pilot at the helm.

Recovering the turbolaser would take time.  The section of the hull it is attached to is far too large to fit in the cargo bay.  Removing all of the circuitry would take hours let alone disengaging every bolt holding the massive weapon to the hull.

Snark commed to the rest of the team "The laser cannon will take some doing, but we're not in a hurry I think, so say we take the time.  May be several hours before its ready to bring aboard."

Binko sat in one of the chairs in the cockpit along with Ander. His particular chair had a few boxes stacked on it so he could see over the instrument panel. He watched intently, ready to assist in whatever way he could.

After what seemed like an eternity of careful, precision piloting and claustrophobia-inducing EVAs, the ancient hyperdrive and turbolaser were brought aboard.  Closer inspection of the devices--perhaps better called artifacts--revealed generations of exposure to space.  Countless nicks, dents and scratches litter their surfaces.

Determining their value would prove difficult without knowing their origin and whether the devices function.

As Rynoth pointed out, as there is no threat here no roll is necessary.

Snark takes the EVA helmet off with a kiss and a smile.  It was a lot of work, but it wad done!  His hair was matted down and a fairly unpleasant smell wafted from inside the suit.  His prize was aboard, now to figure out what to do with it . .

"What do you think Binko, could we get either of these to function again?  Maybe mount the laser to our ship?"

Opening a comm to Ander "We are aboard with the salvage, seems we should go ahead and get moving to Anison to either sell it or get it installed."

Seeing the items come in to the ship, Binko left the cockpit - he wasn't really doing a lot of help anyway as it turned out.

He awaited Snark and Rynoth to come back, though he seemed more excited about the loot than their safety. Of course he cared for their safety, he just wasn't as overt about it, s'all.

"Utinni!" His camera droid hovered nearby, recording the investigation of the goods. The Jawa set to work to try and determine what needed work, what could be easily sold, and what was worth keeping in one whole piece or better off taken apart to sell in parts.

Rynoth had a feeling that the devices were more likely to be useful as parts - or possibly even museum pieces - than as whole devices for sale or for their own use, but he deferred to the resident expert to make that determination. In the meantime he changed out of the EVA suit and joined Ander in the cockpit to assist with jump preparations.

Lost Memory dropped out of hyperspace near Ansion a few hours after recovering the hyperdrive and turbolaser.  Ander sat the ship down in docking bay 327 in the capital city of Cuipernam.

What's the plan folks?  Sell both, install both or sell one?

So, what is our history here?  I'll flip a destiny point if needed to say that we have a salvage contact or two for me to give a call.

Binko, could you run some scans of the hyperdrive and turbolaser?  I need to know more about them so I can negotiate properly.  Our contacts wont take kindly to me misrepresenting their quality, perhaps you could load your evaluation onto a data chip for me?

Snark grinned up at Ander's offer of assistance, "Sure come along, lets find some fun." with Ander in tow, Snark headed down the gangway of the ship and into the starport proper.  He put in a quick call to Troon Vurlq to let the Ithorian know they were coming.  No reason to be rude after all.

He had to shove a bit to make his way through the crowds, his slight stature not helping, but he grinned all the while.  As they walked, he tried to chat with Ander "I realize I don't you very well.  You are a deft pilot, though I sense that is not your true calling.  Where do you call home and what brought you to this way of life?"

Recommend we do the 2D mechanics roll to properly evaluate the hyperdrive before I sell the thing.

Rynoth had no interest in dickering with merchants when someone more capable was on the job despite that part of him that fretted about the possibility of things going wrong in his absence, and Binko was far better suited to appraising (or reappraising) the parts, but whilst they were taking care of the payday there were other, relatively mundane matters to deal with aboard ship. Dealing with those also meant that he'd be close at hand if Binko needed him and with access to the comms if Snark and Ander needed help.

With a garbled yelp, Binko gave a thumbs up to Snark and set to work. He would indeed require some help, and waves his hand beckoningly to Rynoth. Binko was not very strong, and if there was something that needed to be pulled apart of somesuch, including heavy lifting, Rynoth would have to help with that. In any case, Binko sets to work.

10:51, Today: Binko rolled 1 success, 2 advantages, 1 triumph using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 2A 2P 2D.  Mechanics (Evaluating Price).

In reply to Snark Gluntik (msg # 48):

Weaving between people and pushing through others Ander kept pace with Snark, "Not so sure about being a deft pilot, it is a skill that could use some definite improvement. I really don't call any particular place home, what ever ship I am on at the time is pretty much home. Archaeology is my true calling, though I have spent time at other things vocations as needed. What about yourself Snark, what brought you to the outer rim?"

"Came out of Cloud city after years of mindless drone work.  Then wandered the galaxy with a bunch of different crews just to pay the bills and keep moving." he frowned at the memories "turned into more mindless drone work before too long.  Eventually i realized i was a bit of a people person, know how to read'em, you know"

They came to the holo-cafe and Snark looked back towards the corner of the cafe where the Ithorian was typically camped. "Troon!  Hey we just got back from the run you pointed us to.  Wanted to run a few things by you - uou got time?"

The Ithorian tapped a couple keys on the terminal to log out then looked up at Snark and Ander.  A small droid hovered up to the table, nearly bumping into the Ugnaught, delivered a very large cup of tea and was about to hover off as Troon raised his hand.  "Two more Ansionian teas for these gentlemen."  As the droid began to float away Troon added, "Small."

"Sit," Troon said from both of his mouths.  "Well?  Did you find it," he questioned as both sets of slips curled into something resembling a smile.  "That ship must have been floating there for over 7,000 years if I'm right about its origin.  Did you get access to the computer core?"

Aboard the Lost Memory, Binko and Rynoth toiled away on the equipment the crew recovered.  Testing the haul was remarkably quick as the Jawa--with Rynoth's assistance--deftly check the various circuits and servos as if he had worked on those two pieces of equipment his entire life.  The pair quickly replaced the access panels they had removed after concluded their work and considered the best course of action.

Both devices appeared to work well given their considerable age.  The turbolaser would certainly fetch a lot of credits since they're restricted virtually everywhere in the galaxy.  The hyperdrive generator was another story.  It was a class 6, faster than the backup on the Lost Memory, but not fast enough to be of much value to most beings in the market for a hyperdrive.  However, its considerable age would almost certainly cause it to fetch more from collectors, museums, or some university than from a casual buyer.

If only someone on the crew knew what language was that was marked on some of the inner workings of the equipment.

You think it's a safe bet to start negotiations for the turbolaser around 15,000.  You certainly won't get that much, but it gives you room to go down to about 11,000 which is what you think you could get before a fence takes his cut.  Dran took 15% from the one time you worked with him.  A compelling story about the turbolaser could bring this number up because, "ancient light turbolaser, scratched but functional," just doesn't inspire people to open their wallets.

The hyperdrive could replace your slow backup.  You may be able to sell it for 5 or 6,000 credits if you're very lucky just due to its age.  "It belongs in a museum!"

Snark provides an abbreviated description of the adventure aboard the derelict ship "As soon as we boarded, the whole place started coming apart at the seams!  Lady luck's smile was a bit lopsided that day, we all managed to escape, but neither the memory core nor some of the most valuable cargo could be recovered."  Snark smiled in fond memory of the adventure and the adrenaline that had accompanied it. "We did manage to pull from the debris one good piece that you may be interested in . . ., we pulled in the ship's hyperdrive.  An amazing historical piece if ever I saw one!  Perfectly preserved in the vacuum of space it is still functional, an equivalent class VI it would make a great piece for historical study or, an obvious travesty, as a working hyperdrive.  There are language marking all over the interior that could help educate and inform."  Snark smiled more broadly "Are you interested in taking this off our hands?  Say for . . .6500 credits?  I would hazard that you could get 10% on top of that from a serious collector or research group."  Snark slides the data chip over to Troon so he can inspect the readouts gathered by Binko.

Flipped a Destiny Point

11:00, Today: Snark Gluntik rolled 4 successes, 2 advantages using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 2P 2A 1B 2d.  Negotiation for HyperDrive - Toon - Destiny Point.

I started high, with 4 successes, each worth about 5% . . . . 6500 doesn't seem a stretch
For the 2 Advantage, id like him to share more of his research into the ships history.

Can we say that Ander had a chance to look over the marking as we walked?  Being an archaeologist and stuff, he should have a fair chance of recognizing the script.

Troon looked around the cafe, ensuring no one was close enough to overhear him.  He spoke softly.  "I've spent nearly 40 years researching, the Celestials.  If I'm right, that ship was built by them well before they built Centerpoint Station.  Years ago I decrypted some data fragments on a damaged data chip on Eton, a planet in the Ilum system--I think the Celestials were keeping an eye on the Jedi--that had come from a ship.  I think that ship was the one you were just aboard."

The Ithorian leaned back in his chair and let out a low growl.  "We may be able to link the hyperdrive to Centerpoint Station in terms of similar design methodologies but the purpose of the ship, where it had been, what it's mission was, we'll never have answers to those questions now."

As the conversation shifted to credits Troon squinted his eyes and huffed at the price offered by the Ugnaught.  The Ithorian nearly jumped out of his seat as Snark presented the datachip.  "Is this chip from the ship?"

"Jedi?  Huh.  No no, this chip just has the technical readout of the hyperdrive.  While you think about my offer, im going to slip to the restroom.  Excuse me, be back in a flash" Snark pops off to the bathroom for a minute to comm back to the ship "Binko, Rynoth - Troon is VERY interested in data from the derelict, have you analyzed that data chip you found?  Looks like that may be worth the most.  Ill stall for a bit, we need to know whats on that chip!"

"Find out what he thinks is on it," Rynoth suggested as he looked over at Binko, the go-to person for solving mysteries like this. Their computer core might not be up to the task and he wasn't fond of the idea of risking it for an unknown bit of data, but unless they could find a powerful, portable alternative on short notice...

Troon sank in his chair.  Dejectedly, the Ithorian said, "Fine.  6,500.  I'll have it for you in a couple days."  He stared blankly at nothing in particular as the droid returned with the additional drinks.

"Decades of research for an old hyperdrive.  I should have known better."

To clarify, Troon wasn't suggesting that a Jedi was on that ship thousands of years ago, he's suggesting it was keeping an eye on the planet Ilum since Jedi would frequent the planet.

Binko set to work on fixing his datapad.  However it happened would take some investigation, but the encrypted datachip seemed to have corrupted much of the pad's data.  After reloading the necessary software, the Jawa was able to pull up a short navigation list left behind by the datachip.

The now destroyed derelict was on a course taking it to a cloud outside the galaxy.  It departed from Snevu 7813 years ago.  Prior to that it visited Giaca, Ilum and Kro Var.

Don't mind me taking a little liberty with that datapad to nudge the team a little bit.

Snark sipped his Tea as he considered the Ithorian, "You know, like I said we could not access the computer core, but we did find a few other records floating about the ship.  My crewmates are checking into them now to see what they contain." another long sip "We thought you were after the salvage, so that is what I lead with.  What is it you really want to know?  Sounds like we have a decent idea of at least some of the ships stopovers to its final resting place - doesn't seem like much" Snark shrugged and watched the Ithorian to gauge his reaction to the news.
