Design commentary
It might eventually be evident of certain similarities to d20, but one significant difference is the lack of negative numbers/penalties for character stats.

I find penalties tend to be worse in magnitude than an equal bonus. I.E. a -1 vs a +1. The -1 is a worse penalty than the +1 is a bonus. Therefore, only external effects on a character give penalties, never a character's stats.

Materials and items are not so limited. In fact, negative stats for these makes things easier. For example, if someone tries to bend a bar of iron, than using the negative agility of iron is a lot easier and more inuitive than trying to figure out a DC that doesn't relate to world very well.
