Hey there everyone else, here's hoping we don't get torn apart by the vampires too soon into the scenario.

I was actually wondering Director if you had a list or place where we can look at these pre-generated characters? Having never played the system before I figure its probably the easiest and most hassle-free way for me to begin learning.

Oh and as for my opinion on the game rating, I figure mature's a good place to be. Always felt like it gives a lot more flexibility to games without having to go overboard. Just my two cents.

PRE-GENERATED CHARACTERS
So Sim (and everybody else), here's a link to 6 pre-gens:

GUMSHOE 101/BASIC RULES
Also, have a quick read-through of this 1-page summary of the system, if you're not familiar or need a refresher. Specifically, read the page titled: GUMSHOE 101 for Players." This is the basic mechanics info. The rest is details we can cover later.

SETTING GAME TO MATURE
I agree with you, Sim, about the game's rating. Unless anyone objects, due to the horror angle and the possibility of broaching R-rated material, let's officially set the games rating to "Mature." Doesn't mean we have to go there, but we can if/when the game asks for it.

Also all---Night's Black Agents, because of it's theme, calls the GM/DM a "Director." You don't have to address me as such though! Feel free to call me Beck, B, Brian---I'll respond to all.

Hi everybody!

Agree with the Mature level, since it provides a broader range and doesn't limit anybody by age.

Thanks for the pregens and overview links, Director.

Hey all,

Lets hope the fangs don't catch on to us all too quickly. I think the Mature setting is a good call, if anything too intense comes up we could always fade to black or just gloss over the details, no? And thanks for the links! Now that I've got an idea of the mechanics, I want to get a hold of the book and get a taste of the fiction/lore.

For Pre-gen selection:

Gaffer wants Quinn.

Other players, post your desired pre-gen in this forum. We can work out any conflicts.

I'd highly recommend the NBA book. It's just very well written IMHO. Kenneth Hite is amazingly intelligent and a very thoughtful designer. If you enjoy podcasts, Ken and Robin Talk About Stuff is a great listen. Both Hite and Robin Laws (who developed GUMSHOE) are experienced and well spoken game designers. Listening to them talk about almost anything is brain candy for me.

I picked up the PDF awhile back (believe it's about $25 at the link below). I also ordered the hardback new from Amazon Prime for $25. I'm not sure how this affects profit going to the designers, which I'm concerned about, but hopefully the Amazon supplier kicked some dough to Pelgrane for the book.

I love a good gaming Podcast! I will definitely check it out, so thanks for the recommendation! And for an RPG corebook that is surprisingly affordable (I'm looking at you Delta Green and FFG's Star Wars). I might just have to pick up a copy.

If we're not creating our own characters, then Persephone (the British analyst) and Hung-Ke (the American hacker) are the options that really caught my eye. However, I'm really open to anything.

I'm interested in grabbing Dubois, there's something about the Frenchmen that just screams awesome to me.

Just from reading the character sheets i'm liking the atmosphere the game's giving off. Might have to pick it up myself as well. Need something conspiracy esque to sate my hunger until Delta Green's core rule-book comes out which I then will proceed to devour. In the meantime, let's go fight some vampires!

Hi folks! I have no problem with Mature rating.

As for characters, Persephone looks most interesting to me, although I could play Mace or Felix as well.
