[OOC] Out of Character
quote:
Please note! My schedule can be wonky at times, thanks to the fact that I travel out of the country for years at a time. If the internet goes down in (say) China for a week, I may not be able to get on with an update, or even a warning that I'll be MIA. I apologize in advance for this. (And yes, it's now happened to me in both China and Mexico - this is not an idle statement.)

... And sometimes it's because I'm a dumbass and don't realize the telephone cord isn't plugged in. /facepalm

[OOC] Out of Character
Greetings all.  Hope to get playing soon!

It does help to plug in the phone line.

[OOC] Out of Character
Oh, right! Feel free to introduce yourselves to one another.

I've been reviewing characters as I receive them, I just haven't had a chance to respond to anything more than those over whom I have immediate concerns. I'll be responding ASAIC, but today was the first real day of my class and boy is it a doozy (I'm teaching math tomorrow, but I don't know a damned thing about the subject...)

In reply to Lurker S (msg # 4):

I did that once... picked it up last minute with no prep ... they didn't ask me to come back  ;-)
It worked out though...

[OOC] Out of Character
  Good evening, good evening...

Good luck on teaching 'maths' tomorrow - if nothing else, the day should prove interesting.

Never was good at the subject...more like "2+2=5", for moderately large values of 2, that is.

Cheers!

[OOC] Out of Character
I was fine with math until they starting saying, "Oh?  Prove it."  I don't need that kind of belligerence from my education.

Good luck!

[OOC] Out of Character
Fortunately I don't really need to teach the math portion, just the English associated with it (divisor, dividend, quotient, etc). Unfortunately, in order to do that, I need to understand what's involved in the math.

Heh, there is *anyways* one of those in the room, sometimes it is the student, sometimes the instructor.  :)

All right, I got through a few characters today. Will do more ASAP. Heading to work here shortly, so I should probably grab lunch first.

No problem!  A divisor is like an advisor, but one who tells you to do things that will make people mad at you.  I think dividends are something to do with stocks?  And a quotient is when a patient tries to repeat what their doctor told them, but, inevitably, gets it wrong, with possibly fatal results.

If you need any more help, you know I'll be here, ready to divise you.

And you, Sir...should put down that glass of alcohol. You know it is not good to drink and derive, after all.

Nah ... just astute and able to use English in interesting ways... Monsieur Fox may well be the denominator... I'll go for being the Dominator myself.

Re: [OOC] Out of Character
Okay, four character down, two to go (both of whom came late to the proverbial party). We also have a lurker until such time as I lose a PC or feel I can take on one more.

A bit of background for those interest: we will be starting in media res. Given the wide variety of backgrounds we have (seriously... we have Brit, a Romanian, an Italian, and two Americans. The last PC may also be from the States, but she's in the process of deciding), most of you will be meeting at Taranto, Italy (barring some sort of past history together; I can see a few potential links). Anyway, after Taranto you'll all be on a boat to Alexandria, Egypt to meet your patron (who you've probably never met before, though if you want to have feel free to let me know and we can discuss how and under what circumstances).

Anyway, on another note I've opened your character sheets for you to edit. If you would please be so kind as to move your sheets to them I would be most appreciative. (Lurkers M and U, this doesn't go for you.)

Re: [OOC] Out of Character
Much appreciated for opening the Character Sheets, Sir. I've completed the transfer, and the character sheet should be available to you presently.
