   - Looks like this is the Professor's lucky day. Question is, what will he see?

Not Patience, I hope!

I will try to color my speech, but like you said with the tenses, I forget that a lot.

I'm not really overly concerned - I prefer both, but one or the other is acceptable. Boggs threw me a bit because I wasn't sure if his brown was speech or not at first. So I figured I'd ask for everyone to do it as often as they could manage.

I've gotten into the habit of making speech blue, but it took a while (and now when people ask me to use a different color, I usually accidentally use blue anyway).

Re: [OOC] Out of Character
In general, I usually try to put quotations around my speech, like so:

"For Heaven's sake - just do it!" the Professor roared.

   And use italics with thoughts:

Hrm, it can't possibly be Phoenician ... they wouldn't reach Carthage for another 40 years.

Are you saying that you'd want all of our speech, including descriptions, in colour? Would have thought that might be a little confusing, but I guess that might be me.

In reply to Game Master (msg # 49):

Sorry, yes , I color my speech to separate it from descriptions or other peoples speech. I took Brown as so few people use it.

I assume that this is a rather small vessel, if one man can operate it; say 80-100 feet long and 25-30 feet wide. No more than 30 feet to the deck of the pilot house and perhaps 40 feet to the roof of said pilot house?

Ah, no, no. This is exactly what I meant. "I prefer speech in color and quotes," I said. Mentally, in italics, I added, These people are just trying to make my life difficult.

;)

Ma, it's no problem. For some reason though, the brown doesn't pick up as being different on my computer screen. The first time I read your sentence I didn't pick up that it was speech. I'm just trying to make it as easy on myself as possible.

I can honestly say that boating is not my forte. However, assuming that seems realistic to everyone else, I wont bother doing further research (at least, not for the time being).

Re: [OOC] Out of Character
I personally prefer green. Orange hits me as an OOC color, and red sticks out so much that I prefer it for really important things like Oh god, oh god, we're all gonna die!

I am going to DIE! is not a good color, personally I like purple for my speaking. And yes Orange is a good OOC color.

It sucks that they cancelled that show. :/ I can't get the humor right in any way, shape, or form, alas.

I'll probably not post until tomorrow. I may get back home early tonight, but I hope not. ;)

Yeah, comedy is hard to pull off and easy to screw up, especially in gaming.

Re: [OOC] Out of Character
Bah, crap. I forgot to post in the IC thread that I found a picture that (sorta) works for the Liberte. It isn't absolutely perfect, but it'll work until I find something better. It also sank during World War I, but we'll pretend it's a sister ship. :)

Thanks to Ma Itso, who got me started reading up on the Oxley. I actually preferred that ship, but I think it was (far) too small.

Anyway, the image is under Game Maps.

Re: [OOC] Out of Character
Maybe you can use the Oxley later. It might also be fun to be on the Hindenburg at some point or the Orient Express.

I can neither confirm nor deny rumors that the Hindenburg (or Graf Zeppelin) or Orient Express will appear in this game. My lawyers advise me to keep my mouth shut "or else." (That's what you get for hiring mob lawyers. ;)

As for the Oxley, it'll definitely appear later. I just didn't think it worked for this boat.

Re: [OOC] Out of Character
You said the Captain had no crew, so the vessel has to be small. In fact the Oxley probably needed 5 or 6 active  on duty crew to sail her ... the nice old coal fired yacht you pictured probably needs more.

Re: [OOC] Out of Character
Yeah, I know. But artistic license and GM fiat go a long way toward fixing such problems. ;) Logically, the boat in Raiders needed a full crew, but we only know about the captain (to my knowledge; it's been a while since I last saw that movie).
