Re: [OOC] Out of Character
Nice Place... took my wife there for our Honeymoon (after 12 years of marriage and a couple of kids). Couldn't swing a honeymoon when we were first married. At least we are in the same time zone ... more or less.

Game Master:
Peter, I'll get that to you ASAP.

I have the books so if you just tell me what kind of rifle it is I can look it up, no hurry.

Re: [OOC] Out of Character
The problem was, it was one of those spur of the moments things that I had to do a bit of research for. (Well, that's a lie. The truth was I'd jumped onto RPOL while in class ;) I think I'm settling on three bolt-action rifles, though. They're surplus from the War, so they're in pretty rough shape - but they should work.

Re: [OOC] Out of Character
Man, oh man, but this week has been a harsh bitch. However, I received some pleasantly surprising news this afternoon: I don't teach tomorrow. Given that news, my intention was to post tonight. But unfortunately that's just not going to happen... I haven't slept well these past few nights (freakin' humidity), and I think this is a good time for me to relax and try to avoid getting sick.

I'll get an IC post up tomorrow morning after I wake up.

Posting now. I've added language groups, which should even be correct for everyone. I mean, there's gotta be a first time for everything, right? :)

Re: [OOC] Out of Character
Wow, I feel like I've got a ton of stuff accomplished today. So here goes:

  • Updated IC thread.
  • Added an assistant GM. That's actually me, too. But this way I can track how you're spending character points in a more organized fashion.
  • On a related note, I sent you all PMs about how you plan on devoting the first CP award you received, last week.
  • Added a note to track how far you are toward increasing skills using CPs or on the job training (as applicable; that doesn't actually matter at the moment).

Re: [OOC] Out of Character
I'm sure that we're going to get some down time with which to study, practise, and/or learn as appropriate. Would be good to know how well we're progressing, after all.

Excellent work, now let's "Crack on", shall we?

Re: [OOC] Out of Character
Peter, you can roll Observation. I just made your roll last time 'cause I didn't realize you'd need one until I was in the process of posting, and wanted to save time. Feel free to edit your roll into your existing post.

Re: [OOC] Out of Character
There's no internet at the place I'm living right now, and I can't post IC unfortunately. I just hopped on to tell you, but then I saw Peter left me a PL so here's response to that, too.

Re: [OOC] Out of Character
Wow. Tough week, and no internet at the house to boot. Welcome to Mexico, right? Internet issue here is fixed, though, and I'm hoping to be able to post during the week this week. However...

Next week is set to be even more difficult than this one was, but it's also the last week I'll be here. After that I'm heading home, and I'll be there for a few months. After that, well... we'll see. I have an interview for a position in China on the 4th, so I may be able to tell you more after that.

Re: [OOC] Out of Character
Well, despite the semi-long pauses, we seem to be making progress for the moment. I'll take that over waiting forever. Something is better than nothing, at this point.

Hopefully, the internet isn't a problem at home. Good luck with the job interview for China. Hopefully, if you get it, Chinese internet won't be a problem. (Although, it is likely to be monitored if I understand the Chinese way of looking at things)

Ma Itso, it's supposed to rain here all next week, yeah. The rainy season has begun.

As soon as I get my own set up it shouldn't be a problem. I use a VPN to get around the Great Firewall of China, and while they do monitor, it's mostly for political stuff... I doubt they care much about roleplaying. ;) I was there a few years back and had no problem with RPOL.

So... we should probably stop talking about them, I suppose. grin  Well, I very much hope it doesn't mean we're going to lose you from RPoL, but either way, good luck on the interview!

Re: [OOC] Out of Character
The fun question: Do I notice something that isn't there, or fail to notice something obvious?

"Well, guess that's all sorted." Stands up, gets shot in the face.

Or maybe my eyes just fall out.

Re: [OOC] Out of Character
I gotta admit, I'm trying to figure out something "interesting" to happen there, but I can't really think of much. I think this is one of those instances where you just don't see much of anything. I mean, unless you want me to blind you with splinters... :D

Re: [OOC] Out of Character
"Critical fumbles" on non-critical rolls are always kind of a weird situation for a GM.  Critical successes on non-critical rolls can be just as bad.  "You tie your shoes better than anyone, ever!  You may never get them off!"

... reads that again  I'm not sure if that example goes for the fumble or the success.

Honestly, both, I think, are really meant for combat rolls and similar situations.  The concepts don't really apply a lot of the time, even in other places where it is worth rolling the dice.
