Ugh, and having just looked up that rate, I really hate it. It looks like so much! :/ It's not, I know, but still... yeesh.

Actually the GBP is close to the standard Currency... Britain pretty much ran Egypt until 1936 per Cliffhangers. It then became a separate country with a special relationship and a Good sized British Garrison around the canal. I'll let Peter work out an exchange rate ;-) I'd expect something like 1£ = $5 or so. Pre WW2 they are still the British Empire for real, regardless of how fragile their grip was on it.

Ten years ago. ;) Maybe nine, depending on when you're counting from. The tomb was discovered in November of '22 and it's, oh... early 1932. Before Hitler became Chancellor, anyway (I'm thinking Marchish, but I haven't really made up my mind yet and it doesn't really matter to my way of thinking, at least not ATM). Also, you called Stewart Preston. ;)

I missed the part where anyone was poking jokes at your profession. Peter thinks you're a priest of some kind, and hasn't made the connection to ~vampires~. Then again, he hasn't read the book and didn't see the movie Dracula when it came out in 1931. Since it was so popular, though "Bela Lugosi Dracula" is probably what most people will picture! Referring to Ma Itso who made the joke about "lots of wooden stakes."

If I recall, you commented on Priests saving people with prayers while you used your crossbow. Ma Itso asked if the crossbow used small wooden stakes. A question , not a put down ;-)

Maybe I'll just do so in the ooc, if it's not directly plot related. |
