Also folks, if there is game knowledge we need to learn via loremaster stuff, let me know to add to the Seventy-Five Questions of Tyrel.

Last time our heroes survived an attack from strange creatures after spotting a mysterious ship with red sails in the mists. The rest of the day passes by with everyone on edge expecting more creatures to burst forth but nothing comes. Night falls and Skywin calls for the crew to drop anchor.

Use Aqua colored text for out of character text.

"That ship with the red sails? I've never seen her before. Those horrible creatures were foreign to me as well. In all my years of sailing the Sellen, you people must be something else."

Holy shit! Actual posts!

Tyrel asks about how common such mists are and if anything can be done to minimize similar ambushes.

Tyrel also will use major image in the evenings to conjure a phantom campfire to tell ghost stories. To build morale. (He will also make sure folks know it's an illusion and not an arson attempt)

Also, Tyrel uses the First Question of Tyrel to recall with encyclopedic knowledge everything about the creatures (what they are, weaknesses, anything we can do to avoid them, their favorite color, etc). Or at least whatever a DC 33 Knowledge check would reveal.

"These fogs do come up from time to time. They aren't always this thick though. We can have some extra lookouts to try to spot threats but unless you can control the weather, we can't do anything about the fog."

This colored text represents her speaking... Something you can actually do in character! You know, as opposed to saying your character says a thing, they could actually say the thing. You can put it in quotes and/or pick a color besides aqua.

Things you recall about Vooniths:
They come from the realm of dreams though how they got to the material plane is a mystery.
They are commonly mistaken for beasts but they can be quite intelligent but not as smart as the average human.
They can speak aklo but they choose not to talk to food.
There are stories about voonith's making friends with canny travelers that can communicate with them and get past their dark sense of humor. Once friends are made, they are known to escort them through bogs and marshes to protect them.

How you know these things is a mystery but you recall them none-the-less.

Anything else you want to know?

No particular weaknesses other than what you've discovered by fighting them. Their yell is a sonic mind effecting fear affect so you would do well to defend against that sort of thing.

Is the fog so thick that a gust of wind spell would do little to get rid of it?

A gust of wind spell would clear out an immediate area but wouldn't do much to clear a general area.

Last session, the party attempted the dream lands excursion ritual but failed and accidentally summoned an animated dream to the material plane. After fighting it off the group rested for the rest of the night. The next day passes uneventfully. That night the group once again starts the ritual. This time they complete it successfully and are thrust into the plane of dreams.

Arriving at the caravanserai, they explore finding a powerful weapon just laying about. They move through the halls filling water basins with the power of Torag as they go. Finally they encroach upon the bath house and encounter a deadly intelligent ooze seeking to feed upon the unwary. The heroes dig deep into their reserves to finally slay the creature. They recover in the bath house unsure whether to press on or return to the waking world.

everyone gets 2880 xp. Check the maps for your progress so far.

Searching around the bath area you only find the one exit that you came in through.

Unless we dig down where the drains are. Perhaps this is like Inception and we have to go deeper in the dream world. On a more serious note, are we in H8 on the map?

Tyrel will go back into the hallway and examine the door in the room with the three drowning basins (SE of the secret door on the map). Perception roll 18 for noticing anything special about the door like traps or whatnot.

Also, given some folks still haven't responded at all in this thread, how are we handling exploration? I obviously don't want to wander off myself, and combat is probably not ideal for this until everyone chimes in.

As you are investigating the four you notice that it isn't entirely closed. There seems to be a small book in the way from letting the door close completely. You don't find any traps in your investigation.

Peeking inside you find what looks to be an office. There's a staircase on the eastern wall leading up, a low table with stacks of small books on top and a chair sitting by the table. More small books are stacked on shelves around the room.

Rifling though the first couple books causes them to fall to pieces. Being more gentle with them lets you see that they are full of gibberish. Running through all the languages you know yields no results.

Penny definitely goes with Tyrel to look for books. And is searching for traps. If any of the books haven't disintegrated can I try UMD?

I made another thread that has that in it just now

There are plenty of books to look through. UMD wouldn't help but you can try linguistics though.

Our amnesiac party has recently returned from witnessing the doom of Sarnath at the claws of Bokrug. They've retreated back to the ship and the caravansarai to heal from the madness caused by dying in the dream world. During their down time they research the remaining items on Count Lowls list.

Things left to research: Signet Ring, Ambassador's Heart Stone, Captains Tricorn, Webbed Foot.
