Re: Moving on

Just to be clear, Sir Gracian and Sir Dalan can probably stick together.

Sir Gracian can get to Hereford in 2-3 days.

Making some inferences from what Fiona said, Galeria probably has someone in City of Legions who will notify her when Sir Dalan and/or Sir Gracian leave, as well as someone in Whitechurch to inform her when you come/go from there in order to prepare the ambush.  If rescuing Ellowyn were to take more than a couple of days, it seems likely that Galeria would become aware that something was wrong.

Note:  Hereford is 2-3 days South.  Inapercu is a little North of the City of Legions, in the Arroy Forest.

Re: Moving on

Just to be clear what the plan is . . .

Look at the main map.

- The City of Legions and White Church are in K 15.
- The Arroy Forest covers parts of K/L 15/16.
- The Kingdom Inapercu is in the Forest of Arroy, somewhere in L 15, East and a little North of the City of Legions.  Exactly where, you are not sure.
- Hereford is at the bottom of K 17.
- Stonewall is in Gloucester in L 18.
- Cardiff is in J 19.
- The normal route to Cardiff is from City of Legions to Whitechurch, to Lambor Castle, then South to Cirencester, then West to Gloucester and then Cardiff.  That would take more than a week leisurely riding or 5 days riding hard.
- You are heading off straight South through Whitechurch and Oroquelenes, then cross-country to Hereford.  About two-three days unless you get lost.  There are no real roads in the area, that is where Bod Dynal is hiding.  Cardiff is another day or two from there, so it is probably a riskier but faster path to where Ellowyn was kidnapped.

It is dark.  How do you want to leave town?  With torches to see the way but easily seen?  Along the road, which is relatively easy to follow in the dark or cross country?

How far do you want to go tonight?  You can probably make it to Whitechurch and maybe a bit beyond before it gets light.  The information you have is that the ambush is supposed to be setup below Whitechurch, on the road to Penkridge (which continues on to Lambor Castle).  Of concern is that it may be possible to move the ambush to the road to Oroquelenes if you are seen.

Re: Moving on

I'm inclined to take the Cardiff route - not only is it a good omen given Sir Dalan's link with that place he is also impatient. However I'm happy to hear my brother knight out here. :)

Re: Moving on

I still need confirmation on specifically what you are planning to do.  There are two routes to Cardiff but there is no real reason to go there, it is simply where Galaria probably expects you to be heading.  You are probably heading either toward Hereford (for Fiona's library) or Inapercu (to get help finding Ellowyn).

If you want to go to Whitechurch tonight, you can probably make it there and maybe a bit farther before daybreak.  Remember that according to Fiona, Galaria is planning to ambush you South of Whitechurch, probably on the road toward Penkridge (on the way East to Lambor Castle).  However, as the roads are not too far apart, it is quite possible that if you were seen heading south from Whitechurch toward Oroquelenes, an ambush could await you there.  Being up for a day and riding at night will tire you, so you won't be at your best.  You should assume that Galaria will ambush you with sufficient forces to assure her victory.

If you leave tonight, there is the possibility that someone will see you and send word ahead.  What are you doing to minimize this possibility versus how do you plan to tell where you are going and make good time?

I am going to be out of the country for the next two weeks, so I may or may not be particularly online.

I still got my own game (part RT and part RPOL) that I enjoy GMing. GURPS Gothic Horror. A sort of slightly Steampunk historical game set in the Hellboy Universe. Otherwise not much gaming .. and you?

A few games actually, though all online. I'm playing a Fighter in an old school AD&D game that has just started and I'm in a long running WFRP game on another forum.

GURPS is one of those games where the mechanics don't thrill me but they have truly amazing ideas and settings - Atomic Horror, Illuminati, Goblins, their various Time Travel books and GURPS I.O.U, my single favourite gaming book ever (with GURPS Warehouse 23 a close second.) My actual playing experience with them is very, very limited but wow those sourcebooks!

Re: Moving on

Hey guys, good to hear you are doing well.  Things here are . . . ok.  Fortunately, I live in Virginia, which is not run by morons, so our Covid cases have not been too bad.  My son has been home for 3 months now and all of his summer camps got cancelled and we had to replace them with online stuff.  For next school year he can either go to school two days a week and do independent study for two days, or do online classes four days a week.  Shoot me.  :)  But if that is the worst thing to come out of all this we are luckier by far than most people, so I can;t complain.

The last of the games I am playing in just ended, but I have been running an Amber Diceless RPG (link to another game) since August with over 18,000 posts.  :D  So, keeping me busy.

It has been terribly to watch how hard the US has been hit by both COVID and protests. As a European that grew up during the Cold War the US always seemed to stable but when you watch the news these days then things seem ... different. I am glad to know that you and yours are doing fine.

Here the school was closed down as soon as COVID hit us and that didnt make things easy. I work in the health services and so does the wife so we were both at work pretty much constantly while keeping the kid at home. Luckily he is old enough to understand and I have to say his school did alot to make sure there were online classes daily. ZOOM and SKYPE do make some things easier. Now that COVID is dying down here society is slowly opening up again and so are the schools and once the summer vacation is over they hope the schools are back to normal.

GURPS is wonderful! :) At least that is my opinion. You can use it for every possible idea you have for a campaign. The trick is not to use every available rule but be a bit selective. RPOL allows for nice breaks where you can look up rules for things you never really read up on before ... like explosions in enclosed spaces, zeppelin combat and surgery. But I suppose the truth is that it never really is about the system you use but about the story you tell.

I envy you. I have read all the WFRP books and I love the setting but I have never played it.

Congratulations! :) But .. you know ... if you ever decide to try Pendragon again then you would make me a very happy man ... just saying. My happiness depends on you ... :D
