Lurker:
I'm doing well! Working on my online class (technical writing) has been boring but getting it done has been nice.
Glad to hear it :)
Teller of Tales:
Hey guys, good to hear you are doing well. Things here are . . . ok. Fortunately, I live in Virginia, which is not run by morons, so our Covid cases have not been too bad. My son has been home for 3 months now and all of his summer camps got cancelled and we had to replace them with online stuff. For next school year he can either go to school two days a week and do independent study for two days, or do online classes four days a week. Shoot me. :) But if that is the worst thing to come out of all this we are luckier by far than most people, so I can;t complain.
It has been terribly to watch how hard the US has been hit by both COVID and protests. As a European that grew up during the Cold War the US always seemed to stable but when you watch the news these days then things seem ... different. I am glad to know that you and yours are doing fine.
Here the school was closed down as soon as COVID hit us and that didnt make things easy. I work in the health services and so does the wife so we were both at work pretty much constantly while keeping the kid at home. Luckily he is old enough to understand and I have to say his school did alot to make sure there were online classes daily. ZOOM and SKYPE do make some things easier. Now that COVID is dying down here society is slowly opening up again and so are the schools and once the summer vacation is over they hope the schools are back to normal.
Sir Dalan:
GURPS is one of those games where the mechanics don't thrill me but they have truly amazing ideas and settings - Atomic Horror, Illuminati, Goblins, their various Time Travel books and GURPS I.O.U, my single favourite gaming book ever (with GURPS Warehouse 23 a close second.) My actual playing experience with them is very, very limited but wow those sourcebooks!
GURPS is wonderful! :) At least that is my opinion. You can use it for every possible idea you have for a campaign. The trick is not to use every available rule but be a bit selective. RPOL allows for nice breaks where you can look up rules for things you never really read up on before ... like explosions in enclosed spaces, zeppelin combat and surgery. But I suppose the truth is that it never really is about the system you use but about the story you tell.
Sir Dalan:
... and I'm in a long running WFRP game on another forum
I envy you. I have read all the WFRP books and I love the setting but I have never played it.
Teller of Tales:
The last of the games I am playing in just ended, but I have been running an Amber Diceless RPG (link to another game) since August with over 18,000 posts. :D So, keeping me busy.
Congratulations! :) But .. you know ... if you ever decide to try Pendragon again then you would make me a very happy man ... just saying. My happiness depends on you ... :D
