Over the bridge

The three of you, plus Paul the spider and Spot the Raven, materialize upon an teleportation circle within a large, dome-shaped stone chamber, at least 30ft in diameter. The only source of light is from a set of torches burning with magically heatless golden fire on either side of a closed set of large, double doors. Centered on the doors is a wooden placard engraved with the words:

"Death meets any who enter these once hallowed halls. Not from spite, or malice, or even preservation, but from the horrors that now roam freely here."

Written in common and copied in sylvan.

Opposite the doors is a large, round-topped tunnel. Everything has the feel of being an indoor road, with this chamber a landing before the gates of a keep. Far down the tunnel you can see the hint of daylight.

Over the bridge

Saran asks Lampwick if he recognizes this keep, if he thinks we are indeed close to where he wanted to go, and initiates a discussion about whether to enter the keep or go down the tunnel outside.  Assuming we can get back in the tunnel once leaving it, Saran suggests that it wouldn't hurt to go outside and get our bearings if possible before making a decision about tempting death in the keep.

Lampwick says, "This is how so many of the fey folk have arrived to this plane. This circle. Almost as a rule, they prefer to head for the fresh air, and not into tunnels of certain death. I don't know what lies in the mountain keep or who has plumbed its depths. But it has been a long time since I have been here. My destination is Sgringkerrt, but I will follow you if you wish to tempt fate.

"As far as returning, I believe there is a troll under the bridge just outside, and he only allows passage out of the mountain. Coming back, I believe there is a toll, or a password or something."

Oh, I remembered that I was supposed to put a scrying coin in the last dungeon. Can we say Saran did that before leaving?

Let's go out and see if the troll still gaurds the passage. Saran starts heading down the tunnel unless anyone says otherwise.

Yes, we can say you did that.

You go toward the daylight in the tunnel. Before getting all the way to the bridge, you can see that there is not a troll blocking the way.

You get as close as you dare and try perceive and investigate sign of troll, and you don't notice anything. You think you may have heard something, but the sound of the river/waterfall that the mountain bridge spans drowns out all sound.

Lampwick shrugs.

Over the bridge

Silence is consent, so the party moves to traverse the bridge. The 50' long, 15' wide bridge is far enough from the waterfall that it is not slick with water, but the gray worked stone is age and weathered. There is a 4' stone railing on either side, except nearest to the cave wall where the railing has been broken. You don't see anything over the edge except that about 100' below there is a raging, frothy river.

After you cross the bridge you hear the sound of stone sliding on stone and see a massive, gray troll (has a build more like an ogre), climb out from under the bridge and over the edge with the broken railing. From a relaxed sort of kneeling position, he gives you a short "see ya later" type wave.
