Update
Oops. Forgot to post my excuses here...
To start with, my friend's mom died the day before Thanksgiving, so things are a bit out of sorts at the moment.
To make things even more mixed up, we were heading to the store last Thursday, and when we were stopped at the light getting ready to turn, we spotted an animal in the middle of the lane next to us. At first, we thought it was a squirrel about to get run over, but then realized it didn't move like a squirrel. A van making the turn just missed it, but the lady behind slammed on her brakes, got out and picked it up. She looked at my friend, and said she didn't know what to do with it, so my friend said he'd take it to the vet, which we were going to pass anyway when we made the turn. She handed it to him (he was driving) and he handed it to me.
It turned out to be 7-week old orange tabby kitten! We took it to the vet, and the vet said it was fine, hadn't been hurt, but was clearly scared. It had oil on its head, so we thought maybe it had crawled up into the engine compartment of a vehicle and finally fell out when the vehicle made the turn.
Since the last of the three cats that we had died back on July 4th, and we'd been trying to decide if we wanted to get another cat, we've kept him. After a rough first day, he's settled in nicely and has quickly become a holy terror. He's still not big enough to challenge the dog yet, but isn't afraid to charge him. He likes to help me type my posts on the computer by walking all over the keyboard.
After a lot of deliberation, we finally decided to name him Dodger, cause he'd been dodging traffic in the middle of a busy intersection when we found him.
Also, a heads-up to everyone... it's holiday season. Generally posting for PbP games drops off a bit during this time. Even when you don't think you have the holiday commitments that others have, somehow, they sneak up on you and screw up anything you may have had planned... or even screw up your unplanning.
That's been my case. No commitments, yet those pesky holiday things have crept into my time and energy. Nothing on the horizon, but they may show up anyway.
Just letting you know things may be iffy until the New Year.
