The City of New Babel #3: The Revolution Bears its Teeth!
In reply to The Narrator (msg # 230):

Aiko thinks that's a wonderful idea, she takes Ms. Sakura's phone and starts dialing Ruckus' number before running outside, waving goodbye to Frank/Casper and promising to see him when she gets back with Ruckus, or to meet up at the movies at least.

She forgot that this isn't her phone, but if possible, she'd like to have already ran out the school with it to search for Ruckus.

The phone rings until Ruckus picks up. He sounds out of breathe and pants as he speaks.

"Hello *huff* who *wheeze* is *inhale* this? *cough*" Ruckus says.

Aiko begins to walk out of the school, but Frank (Casper) grabs her wrist. Ms. Sakura waits by the entrance to her office, smiling.

"Aiko, there is something wrong. I can't leave," Frank (Casper) whispers to Aiko. He looks terrified.

In reply to The Narrator (msg # 232):

"Ruckus! Where are you? Where did you go? I tried looking for you in the library but then things went haywire. Did one of your rituals finally work to save you?"

Aiko looks at Frank with a semi-worried expression, she doesn't say anything but she makes a "we'll figure it out look" kind of look to him.

In reply to Spirit Caller (msg # 233):

"Do you think? I did perform a new ritual today using actual goats blood, like, no fake stuff. Yeah, sick, I bet it did work. The dark gods have blessed me with their unholy powers! Also, I jumped on a bus 'cause I was afraid Mrs. Slugworth was after me. So, like, I think I'm heading towards The Tower, the inner city. Hey, did you know Vlad had an internship up in The Blocks? Do you think I can get him to let me in one of the factories? I bet I can," Ruckus says.

Ms. Sakura has marched over to Frank. Her hand rests on Frank's shoulder and as she drags him back into her office. Frank's eyes are shut very tightly. His face is tightly clenched and he is trembling as he focuses very hard on something.

In reply to The Narrator (msg # 234):

"Ya I do think so Ruckus. I uh, I don't think it's a very bright idea to try and get into the blocks though. Vlad's only just started working there so I don't think he can get anyone in. Also I'm stuck watching Frank with Ms. Sakura, and I really wanted to go see Wawa's game today. You should, like, totally come here and help you know?"

Aiko turns to Frank/Casper and tries to rip his spirit out of Frank's body mentally and secretly.

In reply to Spirit Caller (msg # 235):

"I'm already on the bus though, and, like, I am not going back to the school," Ruckus says.

Aiko uses her spiritual force to rip Casper from Frank's body. Frank screams in pain as light beams from his eyes. It blasts the hallway with cold blue light of the dead for the split second that Casper is torn from the physical shell. Frank's head drops unconsciously. Casper shivers in the air, wide eyed, obviously disturbed. The ladies in the main office all stop. Food drops from their mouths as their pupils dilate. But, as always, they say nothing. A moment passes and returns everything to normal. Ms. Sakura drags Frank's unconscious body into her office, none the wiser, and shuts the door behind her.

(Aiko rolled an 11 to pull Casper out of Frank)

Sorry, I got this guy here. He keeps trying to get everyone to go with him to one of the factories, and . . . No! I'm not joining your political activitsm group, I'm just getting off at the same stop. I am not your comrade. Ugh, fine! I'll, like, put a red filter on my Tweeter pictures, just stop shouting. You smell of vodka. Sterile. . . . We'll, like, do something later. I'm gonna try and get some industrial secrets from Vlad and makes some blackmail money, ha ha hahaha--Dude! . . . Stop roaring! YOu are not a bear, or, like, wahtever. You are the reason the USSR failed. Selfishness is not a comunnist quality, man. Shut up! . . . Ugh, I'll see you later. Oh, what do think about checking out an Art-Mash? I hear there are some real underground guys painting together somewhere in Old Town. That could be cool, and you could do some art and stuff," Ruckus says over the phone.

If you want to go talk to Tutonok you must wait at the bus stop for the right bus.

Aiko waits by the bus stop then for the right bus. She beckons Casper along, making sure he sticks by her.

The bus stop is a plastic bench by the side of the road, outside of the high school, encased in a three sided glass cage. You wouldn't know it though considering all of the posters, papers, and pamphlets glued to the windows. It is grungy and the floor is littered with trash.

Sitting at the bus stop is the girl who had fought with Vlad earlier in the day. She sits on one side of the bench, black hair covering half of her face. Her blue and white striped sweater has stains on the elbows and sleeves similar to the ones on the ripped knees of her pants. The trousers have been ruffled and pulled out of her red boots, which are scuffed on the toes and heels. In her hand is one, partially torn, red pamphlet. She sits alone, staring at her phone and listening to the incessant drip of water in the distance.

You'd think that we'd have massive support down here where everyone could use some equality, but no. And, and, like beating on people isn't helping," She crumples up the red pamphlet and throws it on the ground, "Especially when your beating on people in your group. Bunch of dumb drips. Not sending anymore people to their sterile meeting."

You hop on the bus and scoot into a seat. It is clean and air-conditioned. The seats are firm, but soft and upholstered in a geometric patterned fabric that hides all the stains you know are there. It smells of air fresher; you can see a can of orange-scent by the drivers foot. The rumbles along the streets of Wasabiland towards the vehicle lifts that elevate it onto the ground level of New Babel. The elevator deposits the bus into the Mountain Side district, a place filled with people in sweater vests, beanie hats, and plaid clothing, where it rattles on towards the Mountain.

As Aiko is sitting on the bus, she notices a two people in the back. They appear to be gluing leaflets to the windows of the bus. One, a boy, is dressed in a school uniform, a black, long-sleeve collared shirt with gold button and matching black pants. The other, a girl, is dressed in a similar uniform, a black, long-sleeved shirt with red tie, and black knee-length skirt. Both of them are wearing red buttons on their collars. They are slowly making their way up the bus, gluing papers to the windows and forcibly putting papers into people's hands and taping them to bags.

She'll look out the window and wait for the bus ride to finish.

As the bus drives, you watch buildings pass by. The city sky rises and towers give way to smaller apartment buildings, and eventually smaller structures, until the bus rides out into the suburbs filled with houses, strip malls, and supermarkets. Mount Bering grows larger as the mountainous, steel super-structure of New Babel begins to shrink.

The female student comes beside you. She leans over you and begins to paint glue onto the window. The male student, standing beside her, is holding a massive sheet of red papers.

They do not say anything to you, or even look at you.

The girl scowls at you, but doesn't say anything. She pulls a poster from the stack in the boy's hands and drops it into your lap. Then they move on tot he next window.

The poster is similar to the ones Mary was posting around the bus stop. It is a red poster adorned with symbols of stars, sickles, hammers, and most importantly bears. The bottom of the page is lined with upraised fists, but a picture of a bear's growling face is embezzled on the top, surrounded with gold stars.

It extols the virtues of communism and hints at a special meeting being held tonight in The Blocks. It says one must only go there in order to join the revolution.

The bus continues rolling along through the suburbs until nice houses become simple, rundown, and poor. The trees begin to grow in bulk and the forest's influence can be seen in the land as grasses grow taller and animals roam more freely. The mountain stands tall and large now while New Babel is small in the distance.
