In reply to Spirit Caller (msg # 105):

Spirit Caller slams her head into Magicana Jane, and, while she is reeling, grabs hold of the scepter! It feels cold in Spirit Caller's hand. But Magicana Jane pushes forward, out of the cave.

Once outside, Magicana Jane releases her carpet. It unfurls and hovers in the air. Magicana Jane tries to jump onto the magic carpet, but just can't reach without letting Spirit Caller pull the scepter from her hand. She kicks at Spirit Caller, trying to get away.

In reply to Spirit Caller (msg # 107):

Spirit Caller creates a frozen wind that chills the fibers of the magic carpet. It shivers uncontrollably, making it unfit to fly. The frozen air creeps off of Spirit Caller herself and onto Magicana Jane. It chills her hands shut; one hand clamps down on the Scepter, and the other on her Arcane Wand.

(Spirit Caller rolled a 9 to freeze the magic carpet and Magicana Jane's hands; The Magic Carpet can't fly for 2 rounds; Magicana Jane cannot willingly open her hands for 2 rounds)

"Cold, cold, cold! Get off!" Magicana Jane screams.

Spirit Caller lunges for the Scepter, ready to pry it out of Magicana Jane's hand, but Magicana Jane swings her wand before her. Three bolts of arcane energy fly from the crystal tip and slam into Spirit Caller's shoulders.

Shoom! Shoom! Shoom!

Spirit Caller flies back to the cave entrance. Casper, The Soldier, and Tutonok the Spirit Bear, gather around her. Casper and The Soldier help Spirit Caller to her feet.

(Spirit Caller rolled a 2 to grab the scepter from Magicana Jane)

Tutonok roars angrily. Fear and rage radiates off his body like the billows of red smoke flowing from his wounds. He dives in front of Spirit Caller, preventing a second trio of arcane bolts from connecting with their intended target.

"Been fun, luv, but I have to go. Tick, tock, you know?" Magicana Jane says as she jumps on her magic carpet.

It bucks her off! Whump! She falls on her butt, unable to grab hold of the carpet.

"And what's wrong with you then? Stops moving!" Magicana Jane shouts in frustration.

She swings back, unleashing another round of arcane bolts towards Spirit Caller.

Tutonok roars, ready to take the shots, but he is severally wounded. He sways on his paws.

In the distance, along the tree lane of the clearing, Spirit Caller can see a glowing golden light. It is Miss, Wawa, and the two campers. Miss holds Wawa under her arms, clearly the only thing keeping the girl from charging into the fight. The two campers huddle behind her.

In reply to The Narrator (msg # 108):

Aiko orders the knight to get in front of Tutonok and to raise his shield in order to take the blasts. Staring at Miss and Wawa and the other campers she decides there is no time to waste now because someone less fortunate may get caught in Magicana Jane's scepter, if Magicana Jane continues to hit her as well there's a chance of her suiting peeling and revealing who she is, as the blast marks have already likely cut up parts of her suit such as around the shoulder.

As soon as the missiles would hit her knight's shield, as planned, she will push herself to her very limit and dash with all her force, even asking the knight to propel her in a similar fashion that the Ghost in the Shell had done before.

Whether or not she has been propelled properly or if she's simply dashing with all of her might, Aiko begins to charge her icy aura again, being the only thing she can rely on since her spirits can't get close. In particular she tries something now, concentrating the power mainly on her hands, with one hand reaching directly for Magicana Jane's face, and the other for the scepter.

In reply to Spirit Caller (msg # 109):

Frosty energy swirls around Spirit Caller's hand as The Soldier plants himself in front of Tutonok. The arcane bolts explode on his armor, but he stands firm. Frost forms around Spirit Caller's arm. It encases her fist in icy crystals like a gauntlet made of snow. Cold mist forms around Spirit Caller's fist as she charges forward.

(Spirit Caller rolled an 11 for ice concentration)

Spirit Caller dashes with amazing skill despite the new weight of her frozen weapon. Expertly, she dashes up to The Soldier and jumps, ready to be propelled into Magicana Jane for a flying frost punch!

Magicana Jane screams in terror. The magic carpet shivers. They hug each other and watch in terror as Spirit Caller leaps!

Wawa, Miss, Casper, and the two campers watch in amazement. Out of the corner of her eye, Spirit Caller manages to catch a glimpse of one of the campers fumbling with something in his hand.

(Spirit Caller rolled a 9 to dash)

Spirit Caller shouts to The Soldier to throw her. Just like Ghost in the Shell had done before, The Soldier throws Spirit Caller. She completes her dash with a little hop and was swept into The Soldier's hands. He throws her with all his might over Magicana Jane and her magic carpet and into the forest behind her!

Spirit Caller lands with a THUD! on the ground. Her frosty fist is still intact. She is now behind Magicana Jane, flanking her while The Solider, Tutonok, and Casper stands in front of the cave. Magicana Jane snickers a little bit.

(Spirit Caller rolled a 4 for her propelled attack)

"Good plan!" Wawa shouts as she dangles in Miss' long arms, "now you have her surrounded."

Miss nods enthusiastically, the golden glow around her becoming brighter, "Yes. Very good." Her voice flutters on the wind. It is encouraging to hear, and it warms the body like hot soup.

Magicana Jane hurries to escape. She bashes the ice on her hands against the ice on the magic carpet, breaking off chunks at a time. At this rate, the ice will be off in no time.

"Been fun, really have to go. Bye." Magicana Jane says as she tries to get on top of the magic carpet.

(Magicana Jane's hands will defrost next turn; The flying carpet will defrost next turn)

In reply to Spirit Caller (msg # 111):

Spirit Caller dashes forward and leaps at the Magic Carpet just as it unfreezes. The carpet flails around, trying desperately to dodge Spirit Caller's frozen fist of fury. But the aura of frost still holds the Carpet's fibers still. It can't dodge quick enough to avoid Spirit Caller's fist. She connects with a crunch of ice crystals. Frost spreads over the Magic Carpet's surface. It freezes solid. Then with one more punch, Spirit Caller shoves her fist through the carpet! Shoom! Ice crystals go flying. The Magic Carpet shudders, stiffens, then falls flat on the ground.

"Oh yeah!" Wawa shouts as Miss applauds happily. The two campers are also watching in amazement, but one of them is holding something.

But, as she looks around, Spirit Caller notices something odd -- Magicana Jane is gone! She must have run away while Spirit Caller was fighting!

To Spirit Caller's left, directly away from the cave, she can hear the frantic rustling of leaves. But to her right, closer to the cave, Spirit Caller can see a strange white light coming from right behind Miss.

"Uh-oh! Something is wrong with the spirit bear!" Casper yells as he hovers beside The Soldier.

The Soldier moves aside, revealing Tutonok's prone form at the entrance of the cave. The Bear Spirit seems to be unconscious. Billows of red smoke are flowing rapidly out of his body.

(Spirit Caller rolled a 7 to dash; Spirit Caller rolled an 8 to punch the Magic Carpet; Spirit Caller rolled a 7 to break the Magic Carpet)

Spirit caller looks around upset that Magicana Jane escaped.

Spirit Caller shouts to Wawa and asks what the camper is holding, and asks her to shout so she can hear, as she runs into the cave to find Tutonok. She takes a moment and tries to connect with Tutonok, trying to figure out if he'll be okay or not. When she's by Casper and Knight she also asks if they can follow the rustling of the leaves she heard earlier, wondering if they may be able to find, at least keep an eye on Magicana Jane, if possible. She'd like Miss to stay where she is and keep watch of the campers, but she also asks Miss what the camper is holding through their connection.

She'll also see if she can connect with Ruckus' and the others' spirits, or if they've returned to their bodies.

In reply to Spirit Caller (msg # 113):

Everyone bursts into action. Spirit Caller heads to Tutonok's side, shouting commands as she runs. The Solider and Casper fly into the brush in search of the rustling sounds. Miss drops Wawa and hurries over to the cave beside Tutonok and Spirit Caller.

Wawa jumps on one of the campers. He screams and throws his hands up to protect his face.

"Oh no, she crazy. She's gone crazy. Help!" The camper screams.

Wawa bats his hands away and grabs his wrist. She pulls a cell phone out of his hand. The flashlight is still shinning, and the video camera is filming. Wawa shuts them off and holds the phone above her head.

"It was a phone! He was filming the entire thing. You want me to break it?" Wawa says as she grabs a rock.

But before Spirit Caller can answer, she tries to connect with Tutonok. But the magic flushing out of the mountain sweeps Spirit Caller out of her physical body. Once again Spirit Caller feels a rush of cold magic as she is engulfed in a fog cloud. She awakes inside a cave of swirling light. Much of the blue mist is gone. The red gashes seem to have grown immensely, cutting great swathes through the cave.

Tutonok is sitting in the center of the cave.

As Spirit Caller looks around, she sees Miss standing right beside her. In the confusion, Spirit Caller had connected with Miss, and it appears she has been brought into Tutonok's Spirit World with Spirit Caller.

Miss looks at Spirit Caller with a frown. Her features are ruffled, and the light that glows around her seems dim.

"I think we can save him," Miss says, "but we will have to focus. If you want, we can try and imbue our spiritual energies into him. It will sustain him for awhile. Would you do that? It may leave you too exhausted to move in your physical body for an hours or so."

"No!" Tutonok growls, "I will not ask for your aid. I have failed in my duties. This is my fate and consequence. The magic has been stolen from the scared mountain. It resides in that girl's scepter. I have failed. Leave while you can, before you disappear with me." Tutonok, the Spirit Bear, lets out a sad, moaning roar.

Aiko thinks for a moment and then makes her decision. "Tutonok, I understand, we messed up, but I don't think you get to die because of that. I mean, it's rather selfish isn't it? You're going to die and not even help get the magic power back, and then when I get it back, you won't be around to protect it again, that's rather selfish." She turns to Miss and decides that it's important to keep Tutonok alive, and she's willing to do what it takes to keep him alive.

She also wonders if there's any way she can tell Wawa that she does not need to smash the camper's phone.

Tutonok ignores Spirit Caller. His big head slumps on the cave floor and he shuts his eyes. The cave starts to shimmer and dissolve into red mist around him. The connection to the physical world is growing weak, and the cave begins to lose form to the red mist.

Fwoosh! Fwooom!

But, Miss smiles at Spirit Caller, and her golden aura seems to brighten. Miss takes Spirit Caller by the hand and moves beside Tutonok. She kneels down and places her gloved hands on the Spirit Bear's shoulder. A golden glow emanates from her palms.

"Do not worry," Miss says, "this should not be too hard. We only need to focus on his form and bolster it with our spiritual power to prevent it from being drawn back to Otherworld. It's just like when you connect with Me or any of the other spirits, except you need to anchor the whole cave to this spot."

She frowns suddenly and looks at Spirit Caller. Her feathers rustle uneasily. The red mists creeps closer, tightening around Miss and Tutonok.

"If we fail, you may be drawn into Otherworld or be destroyed. Are you sure you want to help? You still have time to escape," Miss says.

Tutonok's head stirs, "You should run away, shaman, before you are pulled into the realm of spirits from which you may never return."

In an instant Spirit Caller ignores Tutonok and begins to focus on his energy. "If my hero career ends before it even starts that's my problem, but I'm not going to let it start by letting someone else die, that's crazy." She begins to focus even harder.

"Besides, you're not going to die, I won't let that happen. We still have to take down that British Brat with the strange hat." She smiles weakly and nervously.

In reply to Spirit Caller (msg # 117):

Power swells around Spirit Caller. The red mist sinks ever closer. The entire cave disappears, torn into shreds as the swirling blue lights dissipate. Nothing exists except Spirit Caller, Miss, and Tutonok. For a moment, Spirit Caller can see glimpses of a strange world.

Lights dance across odd colored skies. Strange figures lurch across the landscape. Trees grow underground as their roots reach for the floating disks of sun and moon hovering in the sky.

The alien world threatens to swallow Spirit Caller, but as suddenly as it appeared, the vision is blown away. A gust of mountain air sweeps through the red mist, carrying it away into the distance. The mist clears over the cave floors. The hard stone clatters underneath Spirit Caller's shoes. The smell of pine needles and fresh water wafts through the air. Spirit Caller can hear a babbling brook and chirping birds as the world solidifies around Tutonok.

"Very well you done! We have stabilized this spirit realm for the moment. It won't last forever, but it will hold until we can find the scepter and return the magic." Miss says. She claps her hands daintily and her feathers seem to jump in the new breeze. A golden light fills the cave with warmth.

Tutonok sits up. He bows his head at Spirit Caller and says, "I underestimated your power, shaman. You are possessed of strength and will greater than even a bear such as I. Please forgive my failings, so that I may redeem myself. Now I must ask, do you dance?"

A beautifully painted, leather drum adorned with blue-painted bears and swirling mists, and a drumstick carved into the shape of an open hand appears in Tutonok's open paws. The Spirit Bear leaps up onto his back legs and begins to beat on the drum.

Thum! Thum! Doomdoom! Thum!

Miss applauds the dancing Spirit Bear. Tutonok offers her a paw. She accepts and stands up to dance with him. At her full height, she dwarfs the bear, standing nearly two heads above him. The cave grows taller to accommodate her. The two of them urge Spirit Caller to dance.

Spirit Caller chuckles, not knowing exactly what she is doing, she starts to dance with the two. However, while she is smiling and dancing, she is also wondering where Magicana Jane may have ran off too, and she wants to get Ruckus, Wawa, and the other campers back to safety too. She does however dance, as she doesn't want to upset Tutonok and Miss.

She'll just try to connect with the Knight of Casper while dancing. She wants to know how both of them are doing, if they're still on the trail or if they lost it, and everything else they can tell her.

In reply to Spirit Caller (msg # 119):

Miss continues to dance as Tutonok plays his drum. He seems very happy not to be dead. From outside, Spirit Caller can hear footsteps. They grow louder as a group of people walk into the cave. As Spirit Caller stops dancing to check the cave entrance, she sees Ruckus, as well as all the other campers. They are entirely unharmed.

Without hesitation, Ruckus runs up to the spirits and begins drooling.

"Sick! Sick! This is the best day ever! Real spirits. Horrible soul-sucking monsters. Are you preforming some kind of sacrificial ritual? Can I join?" Ruckus says. Without waiting for an answer, he begins twerking.

Thum! Thum! Doomdoom! Thum!

The other campers hang back along the cave walls hesitantly. They are unsure of what to do. The two teenage boys look over at Spirit Caller and begin whispering between themselves. They keep their eyes of Spirit Caller, waiting for an order. The three adults, a married couple and a forest ranger, stand around the wall.

Being reminded of the outside world, Spirit Caller tries to connect with Casper and The Soldier; she connects with Casper immediately.

"Aiko is that you?" Casper's voice fills Spirit Caller's head, "I followed the crazy witch all the way out of the forest. The Soldier kept trying to cut off her head, but his sword wasn't able to touch her. He nearly chased her into town, but I stopped him. She didn't see me though so I followed her into town. She got on a bus and headed towards the city, but halfway there she got off and was picked up by a limo. It had hover jets! They flew away and I couldn't keep up. But she kept mentioning something about 'finding some ultimate power' now that she had her 'divining rod all charged up'. Hope you're doing better with the giant bear. Can we come back now, though? I think people are starting to get worried about the giant suit of ghostly armor starting at them from the edge of the forest."

(Spirit Caller rolls an 11 to connect with Casper; Spirit Caller rolls a 6 to connect with The Solider)

Thum! Thum! Doomdoom! Thum!

Tutonok finally notices the campers inside his cave. He boogie-woogies over to Spirit Caller and says,

"Now that everything is stable, I can freely place the braves back in their bodies whenever you want. If I make a suggestion though, shaman, find new braves. These ones were subpar, and kind of weird," Tutonok looks at Ruckus, who is sneakily trying to pluck a feather from Miss' head, "One as powerful as you should have a guard of warriors. How did you get your powers anyway? I don't believe you received them from the tribal ancestors, or I would have met you before."

Before Spirit Caller can answer, she feels a dull touch on her right cheek as if she were brushed by a feather, but the feeling quickly fades away.

Aiko looks around for whatever touched her cheek with a confused look. Then she responds to Casper. "TT" She sounds in an irritant mood. "You guys did your best, thanks Casper, and thank the Knight for me too. You two can come back to us now, we stabilized the spirit realm for now, but as Miss told me very ominously, we need to find that scepter. I bet there's a way to track it, we'll just need to figure out how." She calls Casper and the Knight back.

She then looks back at the campers and Ruckus, "Tutonok, you should put these people back into their bodies now. They're not really braves, they're not my warriors either. I don't actually have warriors. These people are just regular ordinary people, except for that one." She points to Ruckus and whispers into Tutonok's furry ear. "Between you and me, he's an idiot."

She then stares a bit more seriously at Tutonok and frowns a little. "As for my powers, I don't know how I got them. I just remember being able to see, touch, and speak to ghosts and spirits, even demons, since I was child. I was making friends with them since I was three, according to my parents I'd talk about a crying child in the same room that I was in, and a lady who'd place a glass of milk on my table for when I was having restless nights. Neither my dad or mom claimed to getting milk for me at night so they thought someone was breaking into the house but, you know, I know better, the girl's name is Martha, she died in an alleyway but she used to live in the house, she's kind. The kid who was always in the same room as me is named Casper, he's my best friend, he's strange though, he grows up with me, and I don't know any ghost who can do that other than him."

She frowns a little more, "It caused problems in school though, you know, I'd talk to people who others couldn't see, I'd always have the coldest skin too. I still do I think." She breathes a little and when she does a puff comes out of her mouth. "See, that happens twenty-four seven. I don't know how I do what I do but I decided that I should save people. So that's what I'll try to do, ghost or spirit or human. After we get the scepter back though, I'd love it if you could teach me about my powers!"

In reply to Spirit Caller (msg # 121):

There is nothing Spirit Caller can see that would have touched her cheek. Yet, just as she reaches that conclusion, she feels something brush against her left cheek. The feeling fades just as quickly.

Tutonok nods gravely. His drum and drumstick have disappeared. He drops to all fours and moves towards the campers. Once he is upon them he lets out a massive roar that echos along the cave walls. All of the campers, except Ruckus, run from the cave, screaming and crying. Ruckus looks up the Spirit Bear and smiles. Tutonok shakes his head and with his heavy paw delivers a mighty blow that sends Ruckus flying out of the cave.

Miss waves goodbye to them.

Tutonok turns back to Spirit Caller and bows his head.

"I have opened the way out of this realm for them. I can already sense they have all departed, even the strange one. They should be safely returned to their bodies in the physical world. I would be honored to act as a teacher, and I think it is pertinent that you learn to hone your powers soon. Shamans like you are powerful connections to the spiritual realms, and there are many who would take advantage of that. Threats both human and spiritual," Tutonok says.

The Spirit Bear lumbers to the back of the cave. He scrapes together a bed of leaves and sits down.

"Your Casper sounds very unique. And what do your parents think about you, Shaman? By the sound of it, your entire tribe seems averse to your powers. It is like that with many shaman. People fear the powers you could wield, but you have your ghosts to keep you company, Casper, and Martha," Tutonok says.

"I for one think you are a wonderful superhero," Miss pats Spirit Caller on the back. She looms over Spirit Caller like a mother bird, her feathers scraping the ceiling, leaving little streaks of gold on the stone. "I'm sure you will retrieve that scepter, you're a superhero after all."

In reply to Spirit Caller (msg # 123):

"Hmmm," Tutonok says as he scratches his back on the cave wall, "The way I see it there are four choices. One, we could track the magical energy, like a dog does a rabbit. The mountain, and every spiritual object, location, and user have distinct feelings. I could track the magic back to the scepter, but she would need to use it first. The more she uses it, the easier it will be to track."

"The second choice is to find whatever it is she was looking for. If we find what she wants, then she'll come right to us, like a rabbit running into a snare. But, I do not know what she wants to  find. Has anyone of your tribe brought back a powerful item recently, a magic or spiritual one especially?" Tutonok says.

"Third choice would be to wait. Eventually, she will find what she wants. I do not like this choice though. If it were a weapon, I might feel assured she would use it. But she is a frightened kind, and would sooner run with whatever she finds," Tutonok shakes his head at the thought, "It is like giving a rabbit free reign in your garden and hoping it gets too fat to run. I knew a fox who nearly died through winter trying that."

"Finally we come to my preferred method. We carve our way through her people, shouting our challenge until she comes to face us, or they bring us to her to stop our carnage!" Tutonok roars!

Miss smiles politely as she leans between Tutonok and Spirit Caller. She puts up a dainty, gloved hand and says, "I don't think carnage and carving through people are very heroic things to do, but manhunts really aren't my specialty. They make me feel uneasy," she pats her stomach gently, "It is nice your parents treat you normally. Do you have wonderful dinners in front of the television together? Are television dinners are nice as they sound? Wawa was adamantly saying they aren't."

Once again, Spirit Caller feels something brush against her cheek. It feels heavier this time. This time she feels it first on her right cheek, then on her left cheek, then on her right cheek again.

Spirit Caller awakes on the ground at the entrance to the cave. Wawa is standing over her, slapping her repeatedly. Wawa still has the phone clenched in one hand. The campers are standing behind her, still frightened.

Spirit Caller can just make out Miss standing in the clearing. All of the people trapped in Tutonok's spirit realm have returned and appear to be in the clearing. Ruckus is once again trying to pull a feather from Miss' head.

"You're awake! Finally. I was worried I would need to find a bucket of water. Where did you go?" Wawa asks.

Above Wawa's head, Spirit Caller can see Casper and The Soldier floating in the air. Casper waves and smiles.

The world seems normal again. Spirit Caller can hear crickets chirping and owls hooting in the trees. She can see the stars and moon in the sky. A gentle breeze blows through the forest, carrying the smell of pine needles and campfire.

Also her cheeks hurt a lot. They really burn, like, it hurts to speak, or smile.

"So about the phone, should I smash it with a rock or can you freeze it until it explodes?" Wawa asks, dangling the phone from her fingers.

In reply to The Narrator (msg # 128):

Spirit Caller waves up at Casper and the Knight, and then at Miss again. "Uh, no Wawa, you don't have to break the camper's phone. I thought he was maybe holding something that was helping the enemy. I was busy dancing with a giant bear, and Miss, in the spirit world" Then she feels her cheeks in pain.

"Did you guys just slap me until I woke up?"

In reply to Spirit Caller (msg # 129):

"Yeah, like, my hand hurts," Wawa says as she hands the phone back to one of the campers, "So what was all this about? Who was the lady the with magic wand? And why does the carpet keep moving?"

The camper takes back his phone and runs away to Miss. All the other people are around her in the middle of the clearing. The magic carpet is twitching, as if its trying to crawl away. Casper and The Soldier remain in the air.

Then Ruckus screams, "Wawa! Did you get killed by the Spirit Bear too? Like, I didn't think I'd like camping and stuff, but if this is what happens then I want to go more," He runs over to Wawa and Spirit Caller, holding something in his hand. He whispers, "I got one. I got a feather from the angel lady. And I get to meet Spirit Caller as a living person too. You're the best!"

Ruckus goes in for a big hug!
