Oh, man. I used to love those so much back in the 90s. I picked them up on Steam a while back, but I don't have a joystick anymore so I can't play them properly.
X-Wing was great, but I thought Tie Fighter actually handled better. And the squadron management controls in Tie Fighter were revolutionary at the time.

You know, the starfighting bits in the new Star Wars Battlefront 2 by Dice weren't half bad. They were multiplayer or campaign only, of course, so they didn't have nearly as much variety as you got in either XW or TF. And, of course, since they were console games the power, targeting, and shield controls weren't nearly as good. Still, the graphics were great and the flight controls were smooth and intuitive.
All in all, I thought starfighting was the highlight of the game.

Yeck. Yeah, every time I've built my own system I've run into hardware glitches: faulty memory on one, bad CPU on another. It's the bane of building a custom system. Still, the quality in the end makes up for the hassle.

Oh, gosh, I wish. GenCon is up in Indianapolis, so we didn't have money for it this year. We're hoping maybe not next year, but the year after to be doing well enough to justify making it there. We've got a couple of people in the industry we've been chatting with on Twitter and email that we'd love to play with in person. :)
No, the con we went to was the Austin Anime Convention. We did a panel on Running Anime in RPGs on Saturday. They stuck us in a tiny room for the panel, but we still got like 40 guests and most of them stayed for the whole thing and they asked lots and lots of questions. Let me tell you, that was a serious shot in the arm. lol. We also did some gaming in the Board Game Room all three days, and that was fun. We got a couple of likes out of the con already. Hopefully we'll snag a few more over the next week. Either way, it felt like it was good local exposure for us.
We're planning on hitting up the local wargaming con in November, Millennium Con. I'm gonna try to run a game of RECON and a Savage Worlds scenario, and I think one of my partners is going to do Traveller and maybe The Veil? At any rate, we're looking forward to that.

I GM as such, It depends on how your character approaches the situation. Attempt to outsmart it? thats intellect. Attempt to dodge/outrun it? thats Speed. ect

Then I would try to use Intellect to counteract the dark energy using mind shielding psychic techniques. So spending an Effort to make it 6+ (3-1 Edge= 2 Intellect Points), and I am trained in Intellect Defense Tasks, so that's 3+ if it applies (and also +2 armor against such effects).

You could fire an orb. These are artillery weapons so there is a possibility that the weapons damage could catch the other characters in the detonation. You would need to roll an 17+ on a D20. This plus a max of 2 mod choices for the roll needed. Risky but could be done.

Do I understand correctly that the vampire ship is now "empty" of life/defenses and the 3 outside the ship are working to loot it?  Is the entity that slid away on the opposite side of the vampire ship or attaching itself to Baelek's ship?

Given the high risk of damaging an ally, Dacc-Dacc would not have fired unless a much safer firing solution presented itself or there was no other option to end the creature's attack.

The ship may contain life. Vampire ships are naturally shielded from cursory scans. Baelek is looking for something but what, is anyone to guess. The language barrier is a thing but, he did arm himself so you can assume he expected trouble. The Vampire Blood Weird is sliding across the vampire ship. Baelek's ship is far enough that it would not reach the Martian ship unnoticed.

House rule time,(something I have been using in this system as a house rule hack)

It's called luck/bonus dice

If you rolled a 1 or 2 you get a bonus 1D6

If you rolled a 2 or 4 you get a bonus 2d6

These dice can be used to augment all manner of rolls and contests in the game mechanic.

However they must be declared before you make a roll and they only refresh when I the GM say.

So use them wisely! :)

I can even skip sexual stuff, as long as I'm not involved, because I don't care, as long as it's not fixation over or depiction of sexual assault. That's my red line.

Ok all, another Homebrew you should all know about.

Cypher system uses flat dmg values, 4, 6, ect

I have modded this. Values are either 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12

This is for hand-to-hand, small weapons(daggers and such), firearms, spells, ect
It is a ladder in dmg values representing weapon sizes, spell dmg, ammo type, ect.

This scales to vehicle and ship dmg as well similar to the jump in weapon sizes in the old Star Wars rpg from FASA

Yeah, it essentially mummifies things though. In case of insects or other exoskeletons it withers the insides but little changes on the outside.

All PCs/Players can interact with all threads but at the discretion of the players.

All intense sexual content will be posted on the new thread as to be "off camera" from the other players not willing to read the posts. Then the Player/PC or NPC can return when their actions and interactions are of a non-intense sexual nature. To allow them to continue in the main storyline as they wish.

As your GM that is the easy part

I'm fine with combat and destruction, I make room for swearing (we do it at least sometimes in real life), and the inferred sex, or even plainly stated sex... But I haven't encountered a story that needed graphic sex.

I try to think of actual situations. People do have sex. Some are less reserved than me... But to tell story the conversation and non-sexual intimacy gets the important bits I think.

I ask to simply not even have access to it, as that makes it adult and this game isn't/wasn't rated for that when I joined.

I'm fine with NC-17. I don't mind nude people running around or things being implied or to set an atmosphere- I love Conan for example.

My problem is when it gets too gratuitous or the focus is there. It's not that I'm triggered or a prude- gods know I've got my own kinks. It's the reading of that stuff, that, well... bores me. To tears. Puts me off the mood for good.

I don't mind visceral. I don't mind sexual (I do draw the line at assault or clearly creepy/slimy stuff- that, to me, being reproduced *is* offensive). It's like movies; I don't mind a sex scene, I'm just not interested in it especially when gratuitous or soft-core porn. I got real porn to watch when I want to, why bother in a movie?

Same with TTRPGs.

I had Evelyn move to a new thread and the main thread is active for tamer stuff.

As to what I had prepared. I intended on having Demona wake up and cause some havoc. After an event that triggered her awakening. (The event is secret to not spoil it). But Demona is a character from my sit-down group. The character has been a foil to the party (in-person) group since 2017. Anyways she is dangerous, a predator, but sexual too. So lots could have happened if she came awake. I will keep her asleep as to stay true to the agreement on toning the sexual stuff down. And to keep her true to her nature by her not acting differently, if she was awake.

Not a big deal, it is just a game after all.

I mean, sexual as in with NPCs, as I said, as long as it's not graphically depicted or crossing the lines mentioned before, I'm fine.

With PCs... I consider it a must to approach PCs OOG and ask them if they would be interested in anything like that to get consent. Some people might be enthusiastic, some might want to try it... and more importantly, some might be triggered, and no amount of the former is worth even one of the latter in my book.

Try not to do too many posts, too soon.

Hey gang! New player here. I have a character who is a robot (in the ballpark of IG-88 meets general grievous) - he has an identity that is mostly male (though somewhat neuter being a robot) and it earns money as a bounty hunter (true to the IG-88 portion). It is very old and has had its memory erased multiple times--does not know who built him or why. Is curious about its origin, but not really driven to find out. It is pretty low-tech mechanical compared to most of the current tech out there, has 2x 18" blades that extend from his forearms and retract to recess inside them.

My designation is Z5C-8, but you can call me what you like if you find that to be too cumbersome.

My biggest question is how would you like me to join the story? I could be currently deactivated in a crate or storage bin in the cargo hold of the ship that just launched or maybe in the next location you visit.  Whatever you find least disruptive...

I don't we'd find a lot of things disruptive, at this point the easiest thing is Baelek, the Martian NPC whose ship are currently in has you in a storage crate indeed somewhere and decides to take you out now since he might think we could use the firepower.

Ok those totals represent how many LUCK & Hero Dice you get. These can be used to absorb damage, add to a roll total. add damage to a roll,  or mod almost any roll. Yes. They can be traded with other players. These must be declared and rolled before a roll happens. To be valid for a roll total.

You get four D6 Luck dice

and two D6 Hero Dice

These rarely refill till a scene or milestone is completed and you only gain more after a milestone is met and then sparingly.

Nothing explosive per se but there is a 35% chance you could hit something that is. Roll 2D10 and roll under to find something to shoot at that will blow.

Well in Cypher there's no real Margin of Success so a 9 is as good as a 16 in this case XD. IIRC, it's the 17,18,19 that give a little bit of a bonus, and 20 that gives a big one.

I know Gish can probably here her through the portal but in her defense she was hoping someone would close it .

That isn't unreasonable, though Gish is focusing on destroying the abominable individual rather than removing 4 of her possible feeding targets from more convenient range. There are more and easier targets nearby and if she feeds, she gets worse.

At least that is the suspected nature of vampires regardless of dimension.

Just realized the other end of the portal is in a very public state and not some sort of docking bay or something so oola and Evelyn were butt ass naked in the square.

I had thought it was in an office but that was wrong I guess. The good news for public decency, may perhaps be that the portal joined shadows, so not everyone has to see folks coming and going. Naked or close to it may be a common thing in these worlds.
