I recently downloaded the old 1998 and 2000
X-Wing and Tie Fighter games the ones that were like really hands on flight sims. I have a new flight rig so,...I can relate.

Oh, man. I used to love those so much back in the 90s. I picked them up on Steam a while back, but I don't have a joystick anymore so I can't play them properly.
X-Wing was great, but I thought Tie Fighter actually handled better. And the squadron management controls in Tie Fighter were revolutionary at the time.

Yeah. I like them. They are really challenging and Tie Fighter has more bells and whistles. And I can't be sure as of yet but I think you cant barrel roll in X-WING but def can in Tie Fighter. We need a remake!

You know, the starfighting bits in the new Star Wars Battlefront 2 by Dice weren't half bad. They were multiplayer or campaign only, of course, so they didn't have nearly as much variety as you got in either XW or TF. And, of course, since they were console games the power, targeting, and shield controls weren't nearly as good. Still, the graphics were great and the flight controls were smooth and intuitive.
All in all, I thought starfighting was the highlight of the game.

there is a group of fans that are updating X-WING with modern sound and graphics. You can see their progress on some youtube videos. I hope they release early this coming year.

yeah. I just had my computer die and to get the design and the rig I want built took longer then I wanted. I should be here from now on as regular for me.

Actually the new rig had to sent back. It had a firmware glitch or something. Everything is fine as I have not been online much. But hoping my tech guys can make good. Either way I should be fully online again soonish lol

Yeck. Yeah, every time I've built my own system I've run into hardware glitches: faulty memory on one, bad CPU on another. It's the bane of building a custom system. Still, the quality in the end makes up for the hassle.

Yes. Latest update is, they are rebuilding it from the ground up. So,.......I will get it in 2 to 3 weeks. Add another week for me to Install what I need and want.lol

Lol I should have one up and running by July 22nd. That is also our next sit down game with the group. I have been without my own rig since around June 16th, lucky for me I'm a per internet\online "kid".

lol I didn't get into the web until late--like, 2006 or later--but now I use it so much for research that I just don't know what I'd do without it.
But as for actually living without a working computer? ... But writing on my phone is... I mean, ... No. I don't know if I could do it. :-b lol
