Seasons of Numenera

Gish raises a hand and a few black fireflies gather above the palm, “All those curses and poisons the Ressurection Vampires use make them more dangerous and more difficult to kill. These will not make them much easier to kill unless I can tailor them specifically to the vampire in question, but I can tailor them to us and keep their corruption from easily spreading into us. They can probably overcome it if they capture someone and spend enough time but I hope that it is a lot of time.”

They merged into each other until their light became golden rather than black, “Let your light so shine that they may see your good works.” The golden fly went into his own mouth, “If you have a hard time putting down your own defenses and trusting my magic, you can say no or simply refuse the warding spirit. Would you like one? We should go back and offer to the others. I only make undead of the willing. They are a plague that changes others unwillingly and twists the living and free willed.” For a dead man he was quite offended at other dead.

He began back toward the ship.

The Red Martian has cultural taboos regarding unlife. However, if anyone else wants the option?

She returned the now repaired tech though it took a bit back to it's owner. She had no idea what was going on.

"Yeah... I don't trust sorcery. Never have, never will. Thanks for the offer, I'll trust in my own powers", he said, not so much out of cultural taboos but out of paranoia.

When Evelyn turned up though with the fixed computer, he literally opened up his visor and smiled. "Whoah, amazing! Good job, techie. Thanks!"

The rest of the crew thank Gish but decline either through cultural taboos or through the uncertainty of the mysteries of death and life. Only Tessa seems to consider it for a moment then she holds her hand up indicating that she will pass. Perhaps at some future time she will have cause for or the need of this.
At this point with the vampire menace gone it might be time to continue to hunting mutant Lunarians or searching the crystal pits of the moon due west from their current positions.

"Let's get back to business", Willbrand announced after Gish was turned down, quite business-like in demeanour. "Let's hunt down the mutants first to get it out of the way before they attack more people."

Evelyn was actually torn on the issue. She wasn't much of a fighter choosing to often flee rather than engage her species primal fighting nature due to her trauma but so having a ghost shield could be useful. But it might make her look too weak in front of her new mates and they seemed disinclined to having the dead around.

Baelek smiles warrior to warrior. The thought of getting to the hunt and the job at hand. You notice that he had been looking at an old leather-bound style journal on an upright pedestal table in the central common area of the Martian gunship. You notice that there are seemingly hand-drawn sketches of what looks like various Lunarians and their mutant brood.

Oola sensing your disquiet comes behind you and begins rubbing your arms from behind. She does not understand what was said but she can sense that there was a measure of gravity with a choice. She for her part is glad to not understand much of the languages. She was an ex-daughter of a clan chief of her people and now she was a pleasure slave and a dancer. She took a form of solace in her position. She would rather care only of fine silks, rich suiters, and a carefree life.

Willbrand will wonder over to the journal, opening it gingerly with a gauntleted hand. Using his newly repaired computer, he'll try to scan it to translate any writings and even extrapolate 3D images from the drawings, with whatever degree of accuracy it's possible.

Alright but since you all refuse prevention, don’t complain to me about the pain of the cure. I’m not letting them take any of you simply because they want to and you overestimate your ability to resist their domination. Just know, the cure looks like this…” he collected more of the fireflies into several gold ones which he then caused to fuse together into an almost fist sized golden scorpion.

Maybe only their elite forces can do that though, I hope that she is particularly good at it for her people and you all have more sense of self than the lawbot. I’ll keep this dose on hand and hope she isn’t hiding the ability to do it repeatedly. West, you say?

In reply to Ulysses Willbrand (msg # 925):

You are able to gather some valuable information on the Lunarians mutants. Bald, mean-spirited, shark-toothed, grey-skinned, stooped beings with elongated heads. The moon's Lunarians were the moon's version of wasteland mutants and raiders.

   https://forum.rpg.net/index.ph...his-tsr-game.865212/

Image showing Lunarians:

These beings were the result of bad genetic manipulation of stock humans and the moon's own environmental toxins and radiations playing havoc with these original human settlers. They are not complete savages having complex social structures and laws. They are able to use technology and aquire much of this from their raiding. They are genetically very capable of feats of dexterity and speed. Able to climb near sheer surfaces. From a genetic stand point they can and do continue to mutate every third or fourth generations.
Of these mutations, only a handful survive and are viable. Some giving way to what Baelek's own people call,"Battle Master", gene types. Their raids include looking for human and near human settlements to raid. Their goal being loot and the inhabitants of these settlements as food.

In reply to Evelyn (msg # 926):

Tessa says that the rest of the persons on board need to be advised that they will soon be hunting the vicious and carnivorous Lunarians soon. These Lunarians while brutish and base with vile demeanors and even more vile habits were for the most part a natural problem in the outer areas and territories of the moon. They should not be taken lightly as platoons of trained pure genome Lunar troopers had fallen victim to determined raiding parties of mutated Lunarians. You notice the centaur looking at you with desire in his eyes.

Bae'lek nods pointing to the west on the large computer screen that is in the center of the cockpit area of the Martian gunship. It would seem that is where the mutant Lunarians are reported to have been causing all the recent trouble. There is also the possibility that there are survivors trapped behind the homesteads against the mutant Lunarians.

Gish nods, “I’m not much for taking point in a military operation but I think that these things seem no unlike live versions of undead I am familiar with. I think I can likely get some stock of shock troops out of any that are killed efficiently. Their souls would likely chafe a little at being directed to wait sometimes but knowing there would always be more violence waiting for them- eventually -goes a long way to placating aggressive spirits. I would stay near them in the hold in case they get antsy.”

He doubted the others were keen on having more undead on the ship but they seemed to have a violence prone life recently and while he wasn’t currently communicating it he envisioned bodyguards and soldiers, even something in the way of limited weapons crews enhancement since the undead have had enough sleep generally.

I might even be able to fashion another of your Fiend Mortars, if we find the right kind of violent souls…” He didn’t know what THEY called the red attacking spheres they stored in the launcher’s bay… but he knew what he called those kinds of weapons.

Evelyn had no interest in the centaur but as she stayed close to Tessa it became clear Tessa was in charge when it came to her and probably Oola too. Her work services already were sold by Tessa. She didn't know much about the Lunarian situation however but knew it was probably best to stay on her toes.

Seasons of Numenera

The Martian gunship speeds across the rough lunar surface. The gray and alabaster ground speeds across at rapid speed as the gunship's engines hum and roar. Watching the projected map of the surface on the digital map of the ground digitally represented on the technical device. Out of the viewport, the scene is blank but in time that changes. Out on the horizon, you see two plumes of smoke. The smoke is rapidly disappearing in the thin atmosphere. One of the plumes is white and thin the other is thick and oily, black and dark against the horizon.
Further scanning by Baelek reveals that the dark plume is from what appears to be the remains of some permanent structures. These structures look broken and damaged. Likely a settlers' structure and it seems to be in distress. The scans reveal that the other plume is the exhaust of some form of Lunarian mutant vehicle. It seems that it is rapidly speeding to some unknown destination.
Baelek growls in his throat and a steely look comes into his dark eyes.

Willbrand looked at Gish with a puzzled look. "You just want to... make undead soldiers? Is that it? Is that some kind of world domination plot I'm not getting?", he casually asked, off-the-cuff, while still monitoring their quick trip- which was cut short by the detection of the Lunarian vehicle.

"Contact."

Gish shook his head and smiled, “My world was filled with death but very little violence. Violence seems to be the way of this world. I would rather have soldiers to do that violence for me than do it myself. I do not want to trust or burden my freedom to folks who have so many other problems… you don’t seem the type yourself, That would die for my freedom. I already died once for it.

A difference between me and my master being that I wouldn’t sacrifice any of your life just to make me look pretty. I wouldn’t lie to you or keep energy to myself more than I need. I am content as I am and if I can set up a proper Temple; my magic would become a tool of the public around me and the work of years could be done in months or days. I would allow the aged and infirm grandfathers to turn in a few years for half a century of caring for their loved ones maybe more. Maybe I could figure out, with enough time and help, how to bring life back to my old world- and how to get there,
” he clicked nails that were well kept but a bit long perhaps on the wall near him from time to time while speaking no, though it left no mark it was almost like he was calculating absently.

Seasons of Numenera

The scans show a rather large fast fast-moving antigrav vehicle. Nothing of any recognizable make or manufacture. More along the lines of parts and pieces salvaged together and modded to work together. The scan show the vehicle to be 28,000 square feet and at least 3 stories tall. The various outcroppings, walkways, core structures, and towers look like a mad engineer's wet dream. There are a wide array of weapons on the mutant's craft. Some are energy-based and some look solid ammo-based. You see Lunar and Martian-based weapons from Mazsers to particle cannons. Some old .50 cal guns are also visible. The craft is shielded as the mutants have spotted you and the pale blue flicker of an iridium field can be seen against the sun's rays playing across its surface.

The craft has accelerated to 400 kmh and is speeding towards the terminus of the light and dark of the moon. If it reaches that dark zone the lunar surface becomes more unpredictable. Lunar craters are larger and deep. Thin lunar mountains stick upwards like needles, radiation bursts, and magnetic storms kick up fierce dust storms. Then there are the spacer tales of strange ravenous beasts lurking in the dark side of the moon. Mutated and deadly by the inhospitable environment of the dark side of the moon.

"Can we take it?", Willbrand asks Baelek, unsure of the relative strength of their craft and the lunar ragtag creation. He had seen so far Baelek's ship was... primitive, but that didn't necessarily mean ineffective in a fight. If anyone would know the capabilities of his ship, it would be the captain- assuming he could assess them properly. Willbrand had been under one too many CO's who thought themselves invincible.

Regardless, he tried to put a target lock on it, while slowly checking the condition of the ship's weapon systems.
