It would have been nice to have been in a situation where the PCs could role play amongst themselves, but we were stuck in a place waiting on an NPC.

well we sort of can do that in OOC.  If it is fun enough the DM might even accept it IC. Taking the GMs picture into account I am thinking something like

Gora is actually Geradine Freemantle a young High School student who struggles with her PE classes.  She is way more interested in The History of Gerbils and other such ilk.  In any case one day as she was searching the Library for Tel Dicksons Treaty of Hamster Philosophy the young inquisitive researcher stumbled on an impressive book titled Vin Tarques Sheemarqui.  Reading the words out loud in what she thought was the right way Gora found these words seemed to mean "Lets get out of here."

Ripped from her world into a hall where she discovered a strange old fellow and a bunch of glowing orbs that one by one become other strangers, some of whom were not human... humanoid for the most part but not homo sapien... ERR and the DM.

Any relationship between the character mentioned above and Gora the Half Orc are totally fictitious and are most likely the work of Venger.

Well although I'm mostly recovered from the poison oak, my mom seems to have had a series of mini strokes. She's having mobility issues as well as some memory loss. I just want folks to know in case I go a spell without posting, I will be endeavoring to post at least 2-3 times a week though.

oh goody a DM with the same troubles I have... well I do not have poison oak.  So your one up on me.  Good for me bad for you I guess, but then life is full of problems.  Both Large and small but the worst are the annoying ones.  Mine are the amount of poisonous beasties that inhabit the area.

Update on Sunday

I'm very busy today and tomorrow

For the next few week, I am going to be traveling and it will be harder for me to post.  This game has been active enough to really draw me in, so I am going to be dropping out.  Good luck to everyone.  GM, please remove me.
