Question about rpol character sheets

If I use one of the character sheet templates located on the site, do I need to add/delete spaces if the visible formatting changes, or does it auto-align when I save? I've tried a couple of these, and it seems like whenever I post one the formatting gets all skewed.

Question about rpol character sheets

If it's made of tables, there's generally a certain amount of formatting built in that won't change significantly once you've input your data.

If you use a strictly text based sheet, especially one that relies on fixed width text to maintain its formatting, you'll need to manually adjust things as you put in your own text to keep it looking correct.

Question about rpol character sheets

Some things:  Spaces in the wrong places can cause a table to skew. So can putting too much text in a table cell.

In character sheets I've built, in particular, I have a fairly odd style -- I tend to use whitespace to show how relatively large a cell in the table should be.  If you fill in a cell, back out or delete some of the whitespace to line things up and it should be fine.  (It may be all right if you  go two or three spaces larger, but I wouldn't go much larger.  I constrain all columns to definite widths as a percentage of the overall table.  Going too wide can cause the effects you are seeing.

Incidentally, since I've started using the responsive site, I'm building tables to a maximum width of 700 pixels. With a full HD (1920 X 1080) display, this is narrow enough to prevent side-scrolling.  This is true even on a 1600 X 900 display zoomed to 125%.  (My eyes ain't what they used to be...), but I digress.

Were there any particular character sheets with which you were having problems?

Question about rpol character sheets

I'm not sure if they were templates from the Resources thread or made by the GMs, so can't say for sure, but these are good tips. Thanks!
