Did the image size limit go up from old site?

So this bears context:

Spoiler for my anxiety to forum: (Highlight or hover over the text to view)
Up front, I DEARLY hope I'm on the right forum. I read the top notification and I really was unsure, but then I looked at the threads that exist here and noticed (conveniently) what clearly was a post AFTER others. I'm....not confident but hopeful that this is the right forum. I did my best.

My question is almost entirely summed up in the subject. I used the old site the day before the last day (so two prior) to the official conversion. I also used the new site the day after it went live, but less than 24 hours. So I'll ask this under the context that am unfamiliar with navigation of the UI itself.

Is the image size one can upload with <img src="link"> increased from the old site?

I used the current site as it was being discussed, but only dabbled in it gradually until it went live. So I don't even know what the old versus new limit is, or if they are the same, what that limit is. It's, as best I can tell, not in plain view. Maybe I missed a "patch" note, either at the bottom of a FAQ that was edited, or maybe there's a forum I don't know has the information. If so, point it out.

The “img src” command just points to an image hosted elsewhere on the Internet, it does not store anything on the site itself.  So there is no size limit.

Really?! huh....this is part of why I fell off the computer science coding cliff in around 2007. I can USE outlets, but I don't understand them from a procedural stand-point. Thanks!

I guess that's that. Unless some missing component exists. This thread can probably be closed.

As mentioned there is no file size limit as it's a link.

The dimensional size "X pixels wide by Y pixels tall" on the new site is handled differently than on the old site.

On the old site whatever sized image you linked was what showed up and with really wide images the rest of the content of the page could get distorted because of that, causing you to potentially have to scroll left and right to see all the content.

The new site does its best to keep the images from breaking the formatting and for very wide images should allow you to scroll left/right to see the image while keeping the rest of the text and other page elements intact.

So if your question was prompted by noticing something different with regards to linked images hopefully that's the change you're seeing.

Thanks for that too. No, I hadn't tried it on the new site. At all. Never. I'm very glad text is now bound to its own element. That's great new! I didn't know that either! I'll definitely now, just give it a go and go wide on my image. :)  Hopefully this isn't "in before the close", since (hopefully!) there's no infraction. Thanks! It's time to try this out, with the information above given. So I'll be signing out of this forum. This thread can be (for my purposes at least) closed. Thanks!
