The next day Sara found herself outside on the curb. Dad and Mom were inside discussing the recent results, or what they thought the results were, of Sara's recent meeting with the Doctor.

And so Sara was outside. It was chilly, and a plastic bag from someone else's lawn was blowing down the street. Behind it, was Jimmy. He was running down the road hair tucked under his hat flapping, partially from him running and partially from the whipping wind.




"Shenanigans!" he yelled with hyper glee as he ran towards her.

"What?" Sara asked, distracted. She was in a somewhat atypically thoughtful mood ever since that talk.

"You know, Shenanigans!" he yelled again, stopping in front of Sara and breathing heavily. "Don't tell me you don't know what Shenanigans are? You know, Causin' a Ruckus!?" Jimmy explained, as if saying the new words would shed light on what he was about

"Where?" Sara peered at him, leaning forward.

"Where?!" Jimmy asked, looking confused."Boy you aren't from around here." Jimmy said.

"All that means is like, breaking stuff. Like it's time to go cause trouble." he explained, somewhat annoyed with Sara's lack of the colloquial language in these parts.

"Yeah, I'm not from here," Sara replies, annoyed now. "Okay, let's go."

"You bet you're not from around here." Jimmy said, somewhat put off by the fact that his good news about Shenanigans was overlooked. He had the look of disappointment and annoyance that comes with someone who told a good joke that wasn't appreciated."

Shenanigans are doing things that adults don't want you to do. Or that other kids don't want you to do. It could be sneaking around or breaking stuff. Anything to 'Cause a Ruckuss." Jimmy explained as he led Sara through the bushes that divided her yard from the neighbors yard. A few moments later they were walking past some other neighbor's backyard and down a small path deeper into the interior of the neighborhood and among homes that Sara hadn't seen before.

Then Jimmy crouched down into a squatting position among the bushes, clearly trying to hide.

"Get down and I'll show you how to sneak about." he told Sara

Sara rolled her eyes. Like she needed lessons. Still, she did as told for now. "Who lives here?" she whispered.

"Look." Jimmy pointed upward and into the yard. It was a tree house carefully constructed in a tree up high. The boards to the tree house were pristine and painted with some kind of stain that made them shiny, though you could still see the wooden grain in each panel. A ladder from the trunk of the tree led up to the tree house and kids voices could be heard inside.

Sara listened in; did any of the voices sound familiar?

Sara listened to the voices. She didn't recognize any of them and none of them sounded familiar. Then again, the tree house was high above and the voices came out muffled. It sounded like a conversation, like a....




"A secret plan!" Jimmy said to Sara in a harsh whisper. "That's what they're doing up there, hehehehehehe. But my plan is to make another secret plan that they don't know about. Do you know what my plan is, hehehehehehe."

Jimmy sifted through the dirt with one dirty hand and picked up a rock. He gave Sara a toothy grin as if begging her to guess what his plan was.

In lieu of a response, Sara picked up another rock, aimed and threw it at the wall of the tree house, only then turning to acknowledge Jimmy. "Is that all?"

Sara threw the rock with arm that might have been a cannon. The rock shot threw the air and a loud 'CRACK!!!' could be heard, a single wooden plank on the side of the tree house falling off and landing onto the grass.

"HAHAAH!" Jimmy laughed "Look at that! Look at it! It broke right off! That was awesome! HAHAHAAH!"

Jimmy laughed so hard he dropped the rock he was holding into the bushes. Then he searched around for it, pulling up a few brown leaves and crunchy pieces of autumn grass and then clearing a small area before grabbing a hold of the rock and holding it up the sunlight.

"Yeah!" He shouted and then looking over at Sara. "FIRE IN THE HOLE!!!"

The meaning was clear: It was time to bombard the tree house with rocks.

Sara's snark gave way to a grin as she enjoyed the damage she inflicted. She quickly picked up another rock and threw it... past the tree house. Annoyed at the miss, she went for it again and one more time after that.

The rocks bounced off roof and sides of the structure, one sailing wide and missing its mark.

"Watch this!" Jimmy shouted and he began his own assault of the tree house, picking up as many rocks as possible and throwing them with savage glee.

Big rocks, small rocks and even a few jagged ones flew through the air. Some landed softly on the roof. Other landed with a hard 'thump!' sound as they peppered the sides of the tree house. A single plank of wood cracked down the side and on the corner of the tree house, a splintering of wood, a thrown rocking taking a nearby chunk of wood with it.


OOC: Sara Rolls Dexterity + Athletics is she decides to continue, for each rock she wishes to throw.

Of course Sara was not going to quit now, though getting fired up about it does not seem to help her aim much. She grunts, annoyed at being unable to replicate her earlier success. "Stupid..." Taking a deep breath, she locates a big rock that somehow escaped both of their attentions until now and scores a solid hit. "Ha!"

The rocks flew about in what was quickly becoming a bombardment.

Suddenly, a door or window from a nearby house opened. An adults voice could be heard shouting out in the direction of the tree house. Or was it at Jimmy or Sara.

"What's all that racket!!?" The adult, who seemed angry said.

"Run, before they catch us!" Jimmy shouted at Sara and he tried to pull her arm in the direction of escape, deeper into the bushes and back into the coverage of autumn trees, whose leaves were now red, gold and brown.
