Shawn: The Middle of the Night
The tapping became irregular, intermediate. Shawn could see through the half window it was a kid's shoe, toe point tapping the window gently amid the darkness as if trying to get someone's attention. Suddenly, the shoe disappeared, and seconds later a shuffling sound was heard.
Leonard's face appeared. He was outside.
"I thought you might be in the basement." Leonard spoke through the half basement window with a muffled voice.
"Wow. What a party you must have had last night." He said, this time whispering. "I snuck out to tell you something." As if realizing he was doing something he shouldn't be, he followed up with.
"Don't tell anyone I snuck out."
He seemed better after last night's adventure. Cleaner, a change of clothing. No vomit. Even though he was in the darkness, his face wasn't as pale as when Shawn last saw him.
